ON MAY 25, NEW YORK STATE VOTED TO eliminate a “luxury” tax on menstrual products, which the goods had been subject to as non-“necessities” (think medicine, food), joining a handful of states and cities that have done the same. The next day, similar legislation passed in Illinois.
