The House’s Latest Move Could Be a Big Threat to Trump’s Presidency

A sweeping new probe launched by the House Judiciary Committee could be the most revealing yet about the president’s alleged misconduct.

Donald Trump insists that the investigations into his campaign’s ties with Russia are all a “hoax.” But an expansive probe that goes beyond Russia was launched by the House Judiciary Committee on Monday, and could lay the groundwork for impeachment proceedings, potentially posing the biggest threat to date to his presidency.

Jerry Nadler, the House Judiciary Committee chairman, has asked more than 80 witnesses and entities for a range of documents as part of a turbocharged investigation into what he describes as the Trump administration’s “abuses of power.”
