The Oscars Won’t Take Any Action on Netflix—For Now
Despite reports that new eligibility rules might be announced targeting the streaming service, no such changes will go into effect for 2020.
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) announced on Tuesday. The move came after months of sound and fury over the growing domination of Netflix in the world of movie awards, as well as that the industry titan Steven Spielberg was amassing forces to take on the streaming company.
