About this audiobook

Every time Kevin Spencer sees Tina Zabinski, the Most Beautiful Girl in the World, he’s in danger of tripping, falling, and making a fool of himself. He can hardly say a word to her. But Kev knows he’d be the perfect boyfriend for Tina. He’s not bragging. Just pointing out the obvious.

Kev decides to take a scientific approach to getting a date with Tina. After all, love is based on chemistry. When new kid Cash Devine zeroes in on Tina, Kevin hustles to find the formula that will make her forget all about Cash. In Gary Paulsen’s companion to Liar, Liar and Flat Broke, Kevin’s experiments in true love are truly hilarious.

Suddenly finding himself in love with Tina, Kevin Spencer figures that since chemistry is involved with love, he should take a scientific approach to becoming Tina's boyfriend. His approach is hilariously deliberate and highly impractical: in order to observe how love works he tries to create a romantic evening for his parents, and he sets various friends up on blind dates, to varying results. The humor can be rather subtle and sophisticated for the target reader, but kids will get what they will out of it.

Kevin takes his understanding of the scientific method and attempts to apply to it learning about romance. His naivete and innocence about relationships and dating makes not only this character, but even his crazy antics all the more endearing. The girls who were bored by Hatchet will love Crush.

I really liked this book because it's a romantic book.

After scheming to make his life easier by lying (and that not working out), and scheming to make his life easier by making a lot of money (and that not working out), Kevin decides he will go about things scientifically this time and attempt to make Tina his girlfriend by conducting experiements about what makes people fall in love. He sets up a romantic date for his parents, attempts to ask his sister for advice, tries to set up his brother (and the entire hockey team) with dates, and even tries to set up his friends...but he's still too nervous to do any dating himself. Funny, and probably the most realistic of the three in the series, it is a quick and light read.
