About this audiobook

An epic of awesome power from Terry Goodkind, the second installment of the bestselling series A Sword of Truth

Kahlan has at last gained the one goal she had always thought was beyond her grasp ... love. Against all odds, the ancient bonds of secret oaths, and the dark talents of men long dead, Richard has won her heart.

Amid sudden and disastrous events, Richard's life is called due to satisfy those treacherous oaths. To save his life, Kahlan must forsake Richard's love and cast him into the chains of slavery, knowing there could be no sin worse than such a betrayal.

Richard is determined to unlock the secrets bound in the magic of ancient oaths and to again be free. Kahlan, alone with the terrible truth of what she has done, must set about altering the course of a world thrown into war. But even that may be easier than ever winning back the heart of the only man she will ever love.

War, suffering, torture, and deceit lie in their paths, and nothing will save them from a destiny of violent death, unless their courage and faith are joined with luck and they find the elusive...Stone of Tears.

Narrator's performance was dismal. Think back when you were nine and playing "I will rescue you!" with a friend. That strange quiet but pretending to be loud false urgency seemed to overshadow a decent story. I stuck with it because he doesn't narrate the next installment in the series.

After listening to the Wizards First Rule, this was a chore to get through. The narrator was terrible. I have loved the books, having read them all. His narration has as much energy as someone reading a 600 page newspaper article.

I love this book, but dear God the narrator is horrible. He is monotone and I can't even tell the difference in the character voices. It was a cold shock to my system after the great narration of the Wizards First Rule. I've decided to just read the 2nd book rather than listen to this horrible narration!

I enjoy the sword of truth books but an audiobook’s most important feature will always be the person who does the narration. Sadly this was like listening to a synthesized robotic parody of someone talking. Almost utterly devoid of emotion and lacking any sort of feeling for actual story telling.

This is a great series, a great book, but it has a horrible narrator.

Great book. Narrator ruins it. Sounds like a robot. Siri or Alexia would do a better job.

I have already read, and truly love this book, but the narrator for this audio book is absolutely horrible. I would have rated this at least a 4 with only a decent narrator and could have easily gained a 5, but the narrator dragged it down.

I love this series. I do not love this narrator. Very monotone. It’s like listening to a speak and spell narrate. ??

TRIGGER WARNING: RIDICULOUS AMOUNT OF RAPE, EVEN DONE TO PREPUBESCENT GIRLS!!! I managed to cringe my way through several scenes involving the descriptions of rape victims, men discussing how they are going to violate a woman, etc, but I bore with it, listening in small amounts, as much as I could bare, because I loved the TV series so much and wanted to know what happens in the books. But I reached my breaking point and deleted the audiobook download when the underage girls were gang raped to death. F-ing fantastic. Made for a great listen... Nope, sorry. The plot is really intriguing, but it's just too much to bare with all these rapes... I get that rape happens. Bad guys being bad guys. I get it. But THIS MUCH?! No. Just, no. Such a disappointment... Oh, and the narrator is rather awful, too, sadly. No emotion or depth to his voice, difficult to tell who is talking, etc. Again, such a shame...

I love the book, I love the series, never a dull moment. Would have been five stars if the person reading was better. The narrator makes it really hard to get into. Some how he can make an action scene seem very dull. Worth pushing through for such an amazing book and series.

If you haven't read this books you need to. These are the best books I've ever read have read them many times. Now because they are so good I'm listening to the audio books. Don't always have time to sit down and read so listening to them instead is just amazing. Best books ever.

The story itself is of course great, but doing it over via audiobook I am having difficulty with this narrator. He sounds terribly flat and robotic, and unfortunately I see narrates a couple more further in the series. Ugh. But I'll try to stick it out because I loved the books. Update: OMG this narrator is torture. Hangin in there but he makes it difficult.

took me a while to get used to Jim after Sam's performance, but he really grew on me as the chapters progressed. Well done, Jim!

The first book and this one are my favorites! The are just brilliant! I’m amazed over the imagination Terry Goodkind possessed. It’s a huge loss that he’s no longer with us!

Narrator is pretty rough, but otherwise good. Took me a while to get used to it.

The story is five stars but the narrator is the worst I’ve come across. At times it is hard to tell if the narrator is human or a synthesized computer voice. Absolutely the worst narration ever, and I listen to a lot of audiobooks. Five star story, 0 star audio.

Generally good and clever book, but unnecessarily rape-y. Character growth/arcs could use work as well, although they're definitely better than the first book in the series.

If you enjoyed the first book you will love this one as well. As others have said, they changed the narrator and he isn't great, but I had no problem listening.
