About this audiobook

The tree, the fireside, the candles, the presents and the festive food may be the main features of the traditional Christmas, but so were the stories, the poems, and the traditional tales. Here, is a delightful confection of Christmas texts: the story of The Nutcracker told with Tchaikovsky’s immortal music, Dylan Thomas’ A Child’s Christmas in Wales, as well as nineteenth and twentieth century poems and the always affecting tale of The Little Match Girl. An enchanting collection for those family Christmas evenings.

Focusing on the her own Kennedy, Bouvier, & Schloosberg family traditions, Caroline Kennedy Schlossberg presents a charming collection of her favorite Christmas tales to those who love to celebrate the spirit of the holidays. A must read for all other Kenndey-ophiles out there. It brought me a feeling of holiday joy reading such a lively, warm book written by a person who has experienced so tragedy in their lifetime.

This Christmas book offers a delightful range of Christmas offerings, from poetry and rap lyrics to short stories and emails. Although the expected “Gift of the Magi” makes an appearance, the collection also includes “A Chaparral Christmas” by O. Henry. Who knew that Macy’s actually has a Santa Guide? You don’t expect to find a Christmas story by Truman Capote. The organization is lightly themed and moves back and forth through time periods, but that doesn’t matter. This is a great melting pot of the traditional and contemporary. Lots of diversity here, including “Christmas in Qatar,” “Pedida de la Posada” and a speech by Martin Luther King. This is a hearty book, best digested in bits. The green and red illustrations are clean and vibrant, making the book a great holiday gift.
