About this audiobook
There are the small betrayals: the unkind word, the petty lies. And there are the betrayals that break hearts, destroy worlds, and turn the strong sweet light of day into bitter dust.
When Evie Johnson started at Wyldcliffe Abbey School for Young Ladies, her life changed in ways she couldn't possibly have envisioned: the discovery of her link with Lady Agnes, her special bond with Helen and Sarah, and their sisterhood in the astonishing secrets of the Mystic Way. Above all, Evie's love for Sebastian has turned her world upside down.
Now Evie returns to Wyldcliffe for another term and more danger. Surrounded by enemies, she lives every day in fear that Sebastian will fall into the darkness of servitude to the Unconquered Lords. The Wyldcliffe coven is plotting to destroy Evie and use Sebastian to secure their own immortality. Evie and her sisters must master the power of the Talisman before it is too late. But could it be Sebastian himself who will ultimately betray Evie?
In this companion to Gillian Shields's dazzling Immortal, magic and sweeping romance cross the bounds of time to deliver heart-stopping emotion and suspense.
Gillian Shields
Gillian Shields is the author of Immortal, Betrayal, and Eternal, the first books about the sisterhood of the Mystic Way, as well as many other books for young readers. She spent her childhood roaming over the Yorkshire moors and dreaming of the Brontë sisters. After studying in Cambridge, London, and Paris, she became a teacher. She has taught in a girls' boarding school and also in a drama school where it was rumored that the ghost of a young girl could be heard crying in the night. Gillian was inspired to write this series in celebration of the power of first love, the strength of female friendship, and the haunting mystery of the past.

- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5I read the first book a lllloooonnnngggg time ago, way before I was a blogger. I liked it and when Waldenbooks (AKA Borders) went out of business, I end up picking up this book. I hoped that since the first book fell a little flat for me, the sequel will pick up.Plot: This plot remains the same as the first with a few differences. Evie is back at the border school, picking up what is left of her life. We all know that in a border school no secrets stay hidden. And before you know it, Evie is back into the same mess she was before, this time alone. I think the plot follows what most people will enjoy. It has that border school feel, with drama and lots of mystery. The beginning felt a bit slow since Evie was recapping what happened in the first book but once you hit mid-middle, things starts to pick up.Love: I found this love to be really…strange. He is supposedly dead but not quite. Not sure if that makes any sense, but he gives her clues and helps Evie gain the tools she needs to fight evil at the school. The story also switches pov of both Evie and Sebastian. I found Sebastions pov kind of pointless. He pretty much said the same things over and over. I do however, like that his love for Evie help me stay strong.End: The ending has a bittersweet moment in which Evie has to face loss all over again. There are few minor characters that peaked my interest and I’m anxious to see what roles they will play in the next book.Overall, indeed this book did pick up some. This story does give the reader a bit more meat to chew. We learn more history on the school and why the evil resides there. Betrayal brings more emotions to the readers and more depth to the story. Betrayal is good.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5I found the finale of this book to be worth while despite the book's "emo" tendencies. The characters could have survived a few more devastating setbacks on the way, and the two friends seemed somewhat flat, but I did really empathize the main character. And I loved how Shields chose to end the book.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5The Book Betrayal is the second book in the Immortal series. This book is about a girl named Evie Johnson and how it is her second term back at Wyldcliffe School. Wyldcliffe is filled with mysterious things. Evie's life doesnt get much easier then it did the last term. An angry teacher gets revenge on Evie and tries to kill her and her friends, but doesnt succeed. Evie ends up having to kill her boyfriend Sabastian, and almost dies herself. That is basically what this book is about. I really like this book because it is the second book in the Immortal series and has alot of ups and downs. I think that this is one of the best serioes i have read so far. This book was written by Gillion Shields and is a Gothic Romance. It has lots of mystery, ghosts, and fights. I rated this book with five stars.

But could it be Sebastian himself who will ultimately betray Evie? “ I found this sequel to Immortal to be even better than the first in the series. Shields seems to have really hit her stride in this second book. Both main characters, Sebastian and Evie seemed to have grown a great deal from the end of the first book and the beginning of this second book. While Evie’s obsession with Sebastian can at times be troublesome, she is still a strong female character, capable of thinking for herself and making the right choices, particularly at the end of the book. Readers who enjoyed Libba Bray’s Gemma Doyle Trilogy will enjoy Shields’ Immortal series.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This was a fast paced, adventure filled book. It continues where Immortal left off, and in my opinion, even better than the first book. I love how this story stresses female friendships. I love that Sarah and Helen are there for her and they have open conversations and a close relationship. While this is a love story, I am glad that Evie makes room in her life for other things. Harriett was an interesting addition. She was well written in that I felt much like Evie- I wanted to like her but something about her just doesn't sit quite right. I could not give it 5 stars because at times I was ahead of the plot. I also don't like that Evie and Josh have that connection-- Sarah did have a crush on him, and even though they talked about it and Sarah is okay with it-- I wish there could have been another guy instead of him to take that place. She beautifully crafted the ending, and it fits well with the book and its themes.
