- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5When Theodore Geisel came up with his distinctive style of verse in the 1950s, I don't imagine he thought it would be bringing joy to people with dementia half a century later. But surely he would preen just a little if he saw my partner reading this book to her mother, who has advanced Alzheimer's, doing the fish in different voices, and saw the unmitigated delight of her audience. Thrill to the anarchic energy of the cat, mock the prissy moralism of the fish, shake your head in mock seriousness at the ethical dilemma when Mother returns at the end! It's all there, using a minimal vocabulary, repeating the same words in different configurations so no one's powers are being taxed, and bouncing along with enough energy to enliven the weariest of brains
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Perhaps Seuss' most iconic; the perfect blend of his absurdism and narrative.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Some people seem to have given this less than a 5 - there's nothing so strange as folk...
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5A classic, fun, Dr.Seuss story.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Here it is, the one, the only, the Cat in the Hat.Nothing can compare to Dr. Seuss's Cat in the Hat. A rainy day with children home alone looking for something to do, and boy do they get what they asked for!How can you not love the Cat in the Hat?

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This book was one of my favorite book when I was growing up. I enjoy hear the rhymes in the book which keeps it very engaging. The picture are also very illustrated in a deep way that captures the audience attention. I have this book at home myself and love to read it, and look forward to using it in my future class. This book can help students with rhyming by listening and having the students point out the two rhyming words. Excellent activity!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Talk about being beloved and sentimental. Both the late, great author Dr. Seuss, and his gift of literature to every child who is a beginning reader - even The Cat in the Hat - are just that: Beloved and sentimental. The very first time that I read this special effort, it had been raining outside ... Not only in the great picture book, but also in the real world. I can remember it so vividly - as if it were only yesterday. And the feeling I got from the irony made me feel so happy ... So tremendously joyful. I really love rainy days.
(Smiles) ...
My one-year-older brother and I took turns reading The Cat in the Hat (a single page each in unison) on that gorgeous, rainy day way back then. We drank cold milk, and ate Lorna Doone shortbread cookies, as we pretended to be Sally and Dick being whisked away - via transport of the Thingamajigger - on an exotic adventure. Talk about being beloved and sentimental.
Dr. Seuss' The Cat in the Hat is a fun-filled and well-composed picture book worthy of every child reader - whether he or she is just a beginner or maybe a little more advanced. It has endured for many generations, and I reckon that it will continue to for many more to come. Thank you, Dr. Seuss.
Yet another five-star legend in children's literature. - Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Who doesn't love the Cat in the Hat? Although my perspective on that troublesome cat has changed a bit now that I have children ;) Fortunately, my kids didn't learn to blame their invisible friends for their messes. Still, a great lesson about NOT following the crowd (so to speak).
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This is a classic in the children's book world! Who doesn't love Dr. Seuss? In fact, I remember when this book was read to myself. If you're looking for a fun, easy read this is a must have.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5While I love Dr. Seuss, this may be one of my least favorite of his books because it has been over read. I do however like how fun the story is. The Cat is very tricky, and I love that. He comes up with games that make the kids think and entertain them. I also like how the fish is the voice of reason in the book. He tries to get the cat to leave, but is ultimately turned down. Eventually, the kids see things the fishes way though. I also love the characters of Thing 1 and Thing 2. They kind of act like the wild side of the children. They do everything that the kids would not do because they would get in trouble. My favorite part is when the Cat is cleaning up with his machine. I especially like the ending, when the children debate whether to tell their mother what happened or not. I also like how the book asks the reader whether they would tel too. The main theme of the book is "letting loose." This is shown by how the Cat makes the kids come out of their melancholy and have some fun.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This book is an all time favorite! I have enjoyed this book since I was a child and I still do today!
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5My daughter (Ashlea) and I got costumes at Halloween in 2015. She is the Cat in the Hat. I am Thing 1. We were having such a blast. Headstart does not celebrate holidays or anything like that soooo when Dr. Seuss's birthday month came up, my agency let us go in to read to all of our classrooms in costume. The kids loved it. We were even invited to Family Fun Night! My daughter loves the mom's dress in the book so we mentioned if anyone grows up and makes dresses to remember my Cat in the Hat. lol One of the UPK classes sparked up a conversation about helmets when the cat falls off the ball. Very interesting conversation there. The question asked at the end, "what would you do if your mother asked you?" the responses varied. Ashlea as the Cat always gave her response too. it's easier to tell the truth because if she finds out later you could get in more trouble for lying.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This was a fantastic book to re read as an adult! I thought that the plot made the book. This plot was always interesting to young readers, was appropriate in terms of one event leading to another sequence in a way that helps young children understand how plots are supposed to work. For example when the cat messes up the drapes he tries to fix them by wiping them off on the sofa. Then the sofa is messed up and he attempts to fix that by wiping it off with the mothers dress which then becomes messed up. There is a clear sequence in this example as well as throughout the book. Another thing that really made this book great was the language. DR. Seuss chose to make this a rhyming book for early readers and is very successful at this skill from the very beginning just by the title of the book "The Cat in The Hat". The entire book rhymes and additionally the author was very good about choosing some words that would challenge the students on this reading level which is a good language quality. The purpose of this book is to help young readers begin reading themselves and make them want to read.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Two kids are stuck inside on a rainy day and then all of a sudden the cat in the hat comes busting in. He insisted to show the kids his tricks by holding a bunch of objects while balancing on a ball, the cat in the hat drops everything and makes a mess. The fish insist he leaves because their mother would not be happy if he was there, and then after he makes a mess the fish is very upset with the cat in the hat. The cat in the hat ends up coming back to clean the entire house with his machine right before the kids’ mother gets home. I really liked this book, I would read this book to introduce rhyming to my students of any age.
