About this audiobook

“There is an enemy. There is an intelligent, active, malign force working against us. Step one is to recognize this. This recognition alone is enormously powerful. It saved my life, and it will save yours.” —Steven Pressfield

Could you be getting in your way of producing great work? Have you started a project but never finished? Would you like to do work that matters, but don’t know where to start?

The answer is Do the Work, a manifesto by bestselling author Steven Pressfield, that will show you that it’s not about better ideas, it’s about actually doing the work.

Do the Work is a weapon against Resistance—a tool that will help you take action and successfully ship projects out the door. Picking up where The War of Art and Turning Pro left off, Do the Work takes the reader from the start to the finish of any long-form project—novel, screenplay, album, software piece, you name it. Do the Work identifies the predictable Resistance Points along the way and walks you through each of them.

No, you are not crazy. No, you are not alone. No, you are not the first person to “hit the wall” in Act Two. Do the Work charts the territory. It’s the stage-by-stage road map for taking your project from Page One to THE END.

The concepts that Steven describes in the book are profound and as universal as the Law of Gravity. This is not a one-time read or listen type of book. It's worth listening to everyday because resistance is with us every day. As I write this, it's exactly one month after my resignation from my day job. I've always wanted to focus on my music career because that's what I find true fulfillment in. Since leaving the company, I've been doubting my decision to quit, with the voice or resistance telling me to go back and get a job, but after listening to Steven, am now looking at my new future with more confidence and enthusiasm. I see big things coming my way. Thanks Steven. Keep up the great work.

Sensible. Could probably do away with all self help books and just do it as the author suggests.

He gets it. Resistance is within but I had no idea we all have it. Thanks to the author for such insight and giving the wall a name.

It's a tangent on his War of Art. Basically just a big fat pep-talk to get you motivated to do your thing - novel, movie, business, whatever. Not bad considering I got the eBook free when it was first released.I do like his "foolscap" method of keeping the basic idea on one sheet of paper, three acts, an ending and a theme.Points worth pondering, anyway.

Steven Pressfield's short take on getting hard work done is fantastic. I don't give many 5 start reviews, less than 10% of the books I read get them but Do the Work deserves it. Right now it's up there with Twyla Tharp's "The Creative Habit" when its come to practical ideas to tackle big tasks.
