About this audiobook

For Dr. David Beck, the loss was shattering. And every day for the past eight years, he has relived the horror of what happened. The gleaming lake. The pale moonlight. The piercing screams. The night his wife was taken. The last night he saw her alive.

Everyone tells him it's time to move on, to forget the past once and for all. But for David Beck, there can be no closure. A message has appeared on his computer, a phrase only he and his dead wife know. Suddenly Beck is taunted with the impossible -- that somewhere, somehow, Elizabeth is alive.

Beck has been warned to tell no one. And he doesn't. Instead, he runs from the people he trusts the most, plunging headlong into a search for the shadowy figure whose messages hold out a desperate hope.

But already Beck is being hunted down. He's headed straight into the heart of a dark and deadly secret -- and someone intends to stop him before he gets there.

Good, readable, interesting twists with some predictability thrown in. This was only my second Coben, but already I'm seeing a common theme. Overall enjoyable, though.

This book is one of the reasons why I love reading! It was the first book I have read by this author and I did so in record time because it is that good. It's a fabulous suspense novel about an 8 year old incident involving David Beck and his wife Elizabeth, which had ended in her death. But that night and the incidents leading up to it comes roaring back when the now Dr. Beck receives an anonymous email from his "deceased" wife... his hunt to find out the truth of how she is alive ensnares him with the powerful and ruthless Griffin Scope and has him running for his life. Coben unveils the truth of the secrets these three families share in a manner which has you anxiously turning the page to find out more. The inter-connectivity of the families and the secrets going back twelve years are superbly weaved! An excellent read; I was sorry when it ended. Forgot to mention, it is tinged with romance! Really there is something for everyone in this book. I highly recommend.

I recently read this book for a book club that I participate in. It is a quick read that had me turning pages late into the night. Dr. David Beck has been trying to rebuild his life since the tragic murder of his wife, Elizabeth. Suddenly one day Dr. Beck gets a mysterious email that contains secrets shared only with his wife. How could anyone but his wife know those intimate details of their relationship? Author, Harlan Coben hooks you from the first page and keeps the pages turning until the shocking ending. It was fun to discuss all the plot details with the other members of my book club. There is also a French movie based off this book. It doesn't come close to the level of suspense that the book does. If you are looking for a good thriller, suspense, or mystery read, Tell No One is certainly a fun read.

Harlan Coben writes so many twists and turns into this thriller you can't help but wonder how he kept track of it all. Like many mass market thrillers, there are a number of points in the book that give you reason to question a character's actions-- and all too often character's choices seemed forced, as if they were doing something merely because it fit into the author's thriller template. The action centers around pediatrics Doctor David Beck. Beck's life-long love was murdered eight years prior, but suddenly he starts getting cryptic messages with details that only she could know. Is she really alive? Why does she tell him, "They're watching-- tell no one?" Beck abandons everything, including good reason, to follow the possibility that his Elizabeth is still alive and on the run after all this time. The set-up is good, but I'd lost my suspension of disbelief by the end. Trying to guess who really did it and why is like trying to guess who will win an election that's up for bids-- it simply stops mattering after a while. Similar to some David Baldacci and some John Grisham books-- it's a thrill ride with little substance.

This is not Coben's best; perhaps one of his subcontracted works, Still, I kept reading because I didn't really know what was going on and there was enough sustained tension.

Stand-alone suspense that has familiar themes but is really well done. A pediatrician who works with an inner-city clinic still mourns his new bride, the childhood sweetheart he'd married only months before she was murdered while they were at the family's cottage celebrating the anniversary of their relationship. That was eight years ago. Now he receives an anonymous email that is phrased in words that only the two of them would know, such as "kiss time", the exact time they originally kissed. This sets off a whirlwind of events and violence over several days in which he tries to determine if it's a hoax or she's somehow alive, people around him start to get tortured to death, and he is accused by the FBI of having killed her in the first place. It's pretty tense, for all that it seems it's been done before, and I was hooked, hoping that the time wouldn't be wasted. It wasn't! Now I'm going to look into Coben's other (crowded) backlist, of which this seems to be the first I've read. Isn't it nice to find an established author you've only just discovered?

For Dr. David Beck, the past eight years have been a nightmare of memories of the night his wife was murdered by a serial killer. Still lost in his grief, he gets a cryptic email at work which convinces him that his wife is still alive. He is told to tell no one and that people are watching. He is caught in a dangerous saga of unearthing what really happened and who is behind it.

I didn't get any work done in the past 2 days because of this book. It kept me guessing and had a very intriguing plot. I felt like there were a couple of loose ends at the end, but overall I was very satisfied and had a great feeling at the end of the story. This is the first Harlan Coben book I've ever read, and I am definitely a fan now and will continue to read his books. I loved his writing style, and felt like he was reading it to me even as I read.

Not too bad. The ending seemed rather abrupt, but that may have been partly due to listening episodically in the car.

This is the first Harlan Coben book I have read and I definitely plan to read more.
Talk about a page turner...it had me saying "Just one more chapter," and some days/nights I couldn't even stop with just one more, no matter how late it was getting or what else I had to do.
I enjoyed the New Jersey/NYC setting (that I've heard he also uses in some of his other books) as a fellow NJ resident myself (like the author).
The are so many plot twists that even if you think you have figured out the main mystery there are other things going on which keep you guessing. Some reviewers have said that this made the book unrealistic or unbelievable. So many things kept creeping up that you didn't expect. But I was just fine with getting completely absorbed in the plot (with all it's many twists) until everything is revealed, bit by bit, right up until the end.

Dr. David Beck and his wife, Elizabeth, were deeply in love and celebrating their anniversary the night his wife disappeared and he was attacked and left to die in a remote lake. Several days later, her mutilated body was found, branded with the initial of a known serial killer. Eight years later, Dr. Beck, a pediatrician, is still grieving the loss of his wife when he receives an odd email, presumably from Elizabeth or someone who knew details only she could have known. As Dr. Beck follows the digital leads left by someone who wants him to know what happened to his wife, he finds himself under investigation and pursuit by the police, who now suspect that he may have murdered her after all. This is a fast-paced thriller, which keeps you engaged until the end to find out what happened to Elizabeth. Although it was somewhat farfetched, I enjoyed the suspense and twists and turns, which were a little more complicated than I initially thought.

David Beck became widowed at a young age when his wife was abducted & murdered. Now, eight years later and seemingly out of nowhere, he receives some email communication which leads him to believe she might still be alive. This was a decent, fast-paced thriller. Some of the technology references are now a bit dated and I found the ending a little far-fetched, but it kept me interested and was a quick read.

Dr. David Beck is currently a fugitive on the run, wanted for the murder of his wife eight years earlier. Strange messages start appearing in his email, and they could only have come from his dead wife. As he seeks to find answers, he ends up with more questions...dirty politicians, dirty cops, and deadly people after him...is Elizabeth alive?

My first Harlan Coben, but it won't be my last. Dr. David Beck's life was turned upside down when his wife was murdered and he was left for dead. Eight years later, a mysterious email arrives. Could his wife still be alive? You won't put this one down until the end.

This is a solid 3 for the book but extremely frustrating in Kindle format because of the huge number of formatting and spelling errors. Yikes!

I truly didn't see the ending coming though I'm not sure if I really believed it. Beck's character didn't seem to have the motivation to kill (because he didn't know about Elizabeth's abuse) or the regret that I assume someone would have who ended a life. Also, I find it a little far-fetched that Beck wouldn't realize that his/his wife's beating, her disappearance, and the entire mess than ensued had EVERYTHING to do with the earlier events. He doesn't seem to come to that realization until way too late in the story. In addition, I don't believe that the characters would not have shared some of their information. Why wouldn't Linda tell her brother about the abuse pictures? Her loyalties would seemingly lie more with her brother than with her deceased sister-in-law. Especially after the two bodies were found and foul play became more plausible.

One thing I really enjoyed was the Tyrese storyline. I liked the interactions between Beck and him and the trust that each character had in the other. Though Tyrese is certainly not the most moral of characters, I found myself rooting for his people to kill Scopes' men and get Beck out of dicey situations.

I thought this book was thrilling and it definitely kept me guessing until the end. I bought this in a double-book pack for Kindle and I am really excited to read more by this author!

**It is always awkward for me to read a book where there is a character named Flannery. I'm sure other people have this problem more often but I really don't enjoy it--especially when the character is a quasi-sleazy lawyer!

Beck is a widower, or so he thinks until he starts to receive mysterious emails which could only have come from his wife. As with Coben's other novels as Beck tries to understand if his wife could've survived he puts not only his oen life but the lives of everyone around him in danger. A fiendishly twisty plot which is, nonetheless, a very fast read.

I thought this book was a bit disappointing. Started off ok but was just a bit silly in places. Dr. David Beck hasnt got over the death of his wife 8 years earlier then he gets emailed out of the blue, his wife isnt dead but hiding from some right nasty evil people. The baddies are trying to shut her up and stop Beck from finding her. The chase is on the couple are reunited and stop the bad guys. OK book, I think with some of Harlan Coben stories there are alot of similarities.

I tried this because it was on the Ultimate Reading List for Suspense, and that's the only reason I gave it over fifty pages, because the writing here, oh, it is painful in a way that I can't believe this is just a weak book for this author, but the work of a hack. No sappy cliche is left unwritten. There are popular thriller writers who can boast strong prose--Dean Koontz and Dennis Lehane spring to mind. Coben is evidently not one of them. The way he bounces between first and third person and his pedestrian prose reminded me of James Patterson. I can live with pedestrian prose if the characters are vivid creations or the plot really clever. However... The hero? A pediatrician, David Beck, who works in the inner city who says he tries not to play "Benevolent White Man" (I kid you not, the character uses that phrase to describe himself.) He has a lesbian sister who has a son she conceived through artificial insemination she's raising together with her partner, a plus-size model. All police officers in the book are pot-bellied, big nosed thuggish fascistic morons (but the neighborhood drug dealer has a heart of gold). The villain? An Eeeeevil billionaire. What else? If you're liberal, you may very well find the socio-political sensibility condescending, and if conservative, unbearably PC. I managed to find it both.I'll say this for the novel. If I read past page 50 because of the recommendation, I kept reading because Coben does a good storytelling striptease. Thus the (generous) two stars. I once read that the key to any novel is control of information, and I think that's never truer than with a suspense or mystery novel. This one does have an intriguing premise. Eight years ago Beck's wife and sweetheart from childhood, Elizabeth, was seemingly killed by a serial killer. Except on the anniversary of her disappearance Beck is sent an email with a link to a live webcam on a busy city street. And when he clicks there on the screen is his wife looking back at him. Coben throws us just enough intriguing tidbits every once in a while that I kept reading to find out what was at the bottom of the mystery. So, last straw? That the ending to me was such a cheat I wanted to throw it against the wall. The worse kind of trashy book is the kind to make me read for hundreds of pages and then makes me soooo sorry for every hour of my life I'm not getting back.

A page-turner with perhaps one too many twists in its tail. Nonetheless I was hooked on the book throughout and the mix of first and third person narrative was not as jarring as I have found it in other books. A solid and well written thriller.

Dr. David Beck cannot escape the past. Eight years ago his wife was killed and though he was near her he couldn't save her. Just when he starts to regain his life he receives a message on his computer that only his wife could have written. The note ends with an admonition to tell no one and David begins a search to find the truth about what happened all those years ago.A quick read, sometimes predictable. I've read better.
