About this audiobook
Dave Pelzer's bestselling memoir, A Child Called It, introduced the world to the Pelzer family and the shocking abuse that took place in their home. Dave was fortunately rescued from the Pelzer household by the time he was twelve, but at this point, his brother Richard became the target of their mother's alcohol-fueled rage. Subject to nocturnal beatings, denied clean clothes, and forced to swallow Tabasco sauce, Richard Pelzer suffered daily abuses throughout the remainder of his childhood. Now, for the first time, he shares his story. At once disturbing and uplifting, it is the story of a boy who found the courage to survive years of physical abuse-and how the human spirit can triumph even through the most sever and horrific circumstances.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5What this book does is validate 'A Child Called It' and display in the most horrific way, how a women who was so mentally unstable and full of her own anger picked on children to relieve some of that anger. Richard Pelzer went through such unimaginable abuse and came out with the ability to heal and to love and be loved. I applaud this author and his brother. Although this will always be part of his life, my hope is that he continues the healing process. It is also my hope that any reader of this book who has similar experiences, get the help they so richly deserve. Well done...

- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5It was interesting seeing a difference in prospectives between him and his brother David. It’s sickening to know a mother could be that way. I hope she got help!
- Rating: 1 out of 5 stars1/5This book is depressing, like really depressing. I wouldn't recommend it, the author has no moment of hope.
