This review may be a little biased because I love the Twilight Saga. I read the series for the first time when I was 15. I'm 19 now, and currently listening to the Twilight audiobook as my very own lullaby! Twilight was the second series I ever read, after Harry Potter, and therefore, it has always stayed a favourite of mine.

It took me four years to finally get my hands on this book. I hadn't actually expected a whole story in here. I'd expected it'd be a bunch of events from Bree's life. But when has Stephenie Meyer ever written what I expected? As always, she was way ahead of my expectations.

The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner, though a short story, was in itself a complete story. It had well developed characters, a flawless storyline and the Meyer flair.

I'm trying my best to sound professional here but I might as well be fangirling because this review does not sound professional at all!

All in all, Bree Tanner was a short, beautiful and heartbreaking read (though not so much because we already know what happens at the end) and I'm so glad I finally read it!

It just explained a lot, like how dirty and loathsome the Volturi is, which we already know since Book Two.

A nice bit of fluff that didn't add anything or take anything away from the main storyline. Why this particular character was chosen for a short story is beyond me though.

A couple of days ago Saari surprised me giving Twilight three whole stars and then when yesterday I espied this thin volume in the library, I thought, let's give Steph another chance, it's not from Bella Simplicissima's point of view and not as wordy as Twilight, it can be eben readeble. No luck, and this time I didn't force myself to finish.
I'm so sorry for Fred, his character would have deserved better writing.

After the hype, I expected more from this book than I feel like I was given. No chapters, maybe because it's a novella? But it just seemed to go on and on and on and on and....you get my point. There were no good breaking points and it felt - monotonous. I enjoyed finding out more about the Volturi and how Victoria amassed such an army, but Stephenie Meyer could have done so much better. I recommend this to folks, but only because it provides insight into the Twilight series. But it's not really necessary at all.

The only good thing about this book was that it took so little time to get through. I wasn't expecting to like it but I thought I might find at least something to be interested in. However, it was just so... boring. The thing that annoyed me most was that there are no chapters. It's just one continuous block of text which was really irritating. There was no break or anything separating one scene from the next. This was far worse than any of the main Twilight books- at least they had some appeal. Bree's story really wasn't a story that needed to be told.

    Eh...

This was fun because it only took a couple of hours to read and it expanded on some of my favorite stories. However, the novella is a bit flat. The primary issue, I think, is that we all know Bree Tanner is doomed from the beginning. This knowledge really makes it very difficult to empathize with or attach to her. It's just not human nature to invest in a character you know won't carry on for very long.

I will give Meyer credit in that she does manage to make Bree very integral to the Twilight saga as we previously knew it, which is impressive as she says she wrote this novella while editing Eclipse, so she had to work within the frame she had already created. This relevance, however, is not enough to overcome the ambivalence created by knowing the end of the story.

Furthermore, Bree is just a bit flat herself--until the extreme end of the novel. She is a typical character--the teenage girl driven into evil and darkness by neglect and desperation. We've all seen it before. The world she is drawn into is also typical. It's mono-chromatically violent. Cars are tipped over. Bodies are piled waist-high around ravaging vamps. Read it before. What made Twilight interesting was the anomalies of Meyer's vampires--their compassion, their depth. It isn't surprising, then, that the best part of Meyer's novella is the end--the part in which we see the Cullens and their complexities from a new perspective--Bree's

Meyer just isn't a talented creator of evil. She isn't convincing or nuanced or innovative. Bree Tanner's story didn't play to Meyer's strengths, and we as readers can detect this problem in her uninspiring prose.

It wasn't too bad. It was nice to get an inside look on a newborn vampire's thoughts, and what transpired before the big fight. The only faults I have with this book is the ending was a bit anti-climatic. I felt it was unfinished. Also, It started with Bree already having been changed....It should have begun with her as a human. The background parts were not very descriptive.New book idea, Mrs. Meyer! I think it would be cool to get an inside view on Riley's life, and how Victoria came to find him.

I really liked this book, I didnt think I would at first, but it was good to read from another persons perspective instead of Bella, Jacob and Edward, it was good finding out about other vampires with powers such as Fred, it also made me realise that it wasn't Bree's fault at all, and even though you already know the ending you kind of want bree to survive!

A lovely little "side-note" - as i call it - to once again immerse the reader into the lovable world of Twilight without completely going off and examining what was going on at every moment (but through other characters) this gave the reader a chance to see what it is like for an unwilling new born when they are in their first initial stages of transformation.

I can't believe I've waited this long to read this book! As someone who basically devoured the Twilight Saga, (and especially the Host) I definitely plan on reading anything from Stephenie Meyer. Anyway, I find myself so sad that I won't get to learn more about these characters. It was a very interesting look into becoming a vampire from the other side of the story. I really liked Bree and reading from her point of view. The story was obviously very short, but it still made me really wish that it would end differently this time.

After reading "eclipse" you will know just how short the life of Bree Tanner was. This is a great "short story" of her life. And I loved reading about the other side. Bree Tanner would have made a great addition to the Cullen Clan.

The novella is very good. It explains how Victoria was raising her army to kill the Cullens. I even cried in the end for Bree.

I wasn't expecting it from such a short book but it was incredibly good! I waited a long time before reading it, thinking it wouldn't interest me that much because it didn't involve Bella but I was wrong. I felt truly sad for Bree and fell in love with her character. So young, so sweet and naive but strong as well.

I definitely liked this book better than the Twilight Saga. Even though it's a short story it's very well written. I like how the point of view in this book is a newborn's point of view. Also this book shows how the vampire war started. ( the vampire war was included in Eclipse from Twilight ) If you read all four books of twilight this is a MUST READ.

Couldn't help thinking that this was only written to plug the gaps in the series i.e. explain things that should have been explained before.Nice story but I found the characters a little weak.

This was a great little edition to the Twilight series. I loved that Stephenie gave us a behind the scenes look from another person's point of view. Hope they keep coming!

I have to begin this review by saying I have read all the other Twilight series books and I loved them so I went into this knowing I would like this book. It is shorter than all the rest as it focuses on the very short life of a newborn vampire. I didn't find this "cheesy" or too short. I loved that Stephanie provided a different view into the world of vampires, as we have already seen so much through Bella's eyes. I think this was a great addition to the Twilight saga and I'm sure Twilight fans such as myself enjoyed it. I would recommend this book only to people who have already read the Twilight books as this novel serves to fill in gaps for the reader and provide a new perspective. New readers would get confused if they started with this book first.

It was an alright book. It was nice to get the back story on what went down with the 'newborns'. I really liked Diego and Bree, just a shame on how they come to an end! I wouldn't buy this book, check it out from a library. But all Twihards should read it.

I hate reading a book that I already know how it ends, but this book makes it worthwhile. Bree becomes very likable and I wish the storyline was different. It was odd reading about the Cullens from someone besides Bella's viewpoint, but I enjoyed the different perspective. I had forgotten about Jasper's scars until I saw him through Bree's eyes. I never think of him as one of the major fighters because he is so slight in build. Bree made me see him differently. There are at least two more plot lines added to the Twilight saga in this book: one is about Jane and the other is about a vampire named Fred. I wonder if Stephenie Meyer plans to take them further.Oh yes! I really wonder how the wolf pack would feel about being called "howling vampires."

I would only recommend this book if you like the Twilight books. If you did, this novella about a minor character in Eclipse gives a nice bit of background story. It is a very quick and enjoyable read, but it did not grip me as much as the original books.

Another book sharing more of the backstory to the Twilight saga. I wouldn't say the story was much of a surprise or breakthrough, but if you're a Twilight fan you might find it interesting.

This is an Eclipse novella.Bree was a very minor character in Eclipse, and I did not really find her particularly interesting. I thought the first half of the book was boring, and it was not until the second half when the newborn army was preparing for the upcoming battle that I started getting into it. It does add another dimension to the story, so I think that most Twilight fans will probably choose to read it.I wasn't crazy about the narrator, Emma Galvin. This is my first experience with her, and I did not really enjoy her reading.MY RATING: 3 stars!

First of all, the title is completely unimaginative and sounds like a working title. The title is the plot line. The characters were so dull, that I had a hard time getting through the 170 odd pages. I didn't even care when Bree realized what happened to Diego and just wanted her to die, so I could be over it already.Bree Tanner is just the tragic side of Meyer's Mary Sue.I love the Twilight Saga train wreck. ;)

It is great when an author can take the time to create a backstory to one of their characters. Bree Tanner is an interesting persona and this novel does her justice. This book gave a depth and interesting perspective in the eyes of Bree. Rich in detail and romance, and an added bonus to the Twilight Series.
