This is the third book in the Eclipse Bay series and I think this was the best one. The third Harte sibling is the main character in this book. Nick Harte returns to Eclipse Bay for the summer with his 5 year old son Carson. He is hoping to get Octavia Brightwell to go out with him. Carson develops a friendship with Octavia and is entering a picture in her art show. He does not want his dad to mess things up. A valuable picture disappears from her gallery and Nick is hired to help her find out what happened. They finally go out and things move pretty quickly after that. An interesting mystery, romance and a little family drama thrown in for good measure.

Light, enjoyable romance from Krentz. Not paranormal in any way, although it ties into her Arcane Society series in that the heroine of Running Hot lives there for a time and conspiracy-theorist Arizona Snow appears in both novels.

    Synopsis
Octavia Butler has come to Eclipse Bay to heal the rift between the Hartes and the Madisons caused by her aunt. But Octavia finds more than she counted on when she becomes the object of affection for heart-breaker Nick Harte as well as the prime suspect in the case of a missing painting.

    Review
Unfortunately, Nick and Octavia are as bland as a couple can get and it is difficult to care about their romance.
The mystery of the stolen painting is trite and the investigation utterly predictable.
Only Nick's adorable son Carson and the reappearance of Rafe and Hannah stop the book from being a complete waste of time.

3rd in the trilogy; an average read; tries to inject some suspense but ended up skipping through the parts; some good parts but very terribly light weight

The last Harte unwed, widower Nick Harte has his son Carson to consider. He has relationships, sure, but the women in his life all get "the Talk" and he never stays the night. But art owner Octavia Brightwell is something different. She's turned Nick down six times, for one thing...The supply of Madisons may have dried up, but Octavia has her own connection to past events in Eclipse Bay. And old history has a way of coming back to haunt people. Catch up on what's going on with the Hartes and the Madisons in the final book in the trilogy.
