BEWARE: lethally seductive alpha male of immense strength and dark eroticism, do not look at him. Do not touch him. Do not be tempted. Do not be seduced.
With his long, black hair and dark, mesmerizing eyes, Adam Black is Trouble with a capital T. Immortal, arrogant, and intensely sensual, he is the consummate seducer, free to roam across time and continents in pursuit of his insatiable desires. That is, until a curse strips him of his immortality and makes him invisible, a cruel fate for so irresistible a man. With his very life at stake, Adam's only hope for survival is in the hands of the one woman who can actually see him.
Enter law student Gabrielle O'Callaghan, who is cursed with the ability to see both worlds: Mortal and Faery. From the moment she lays eyes on this stunning male, Gabby is certain of one thing: He could be her undoing. Thus begins a long, dangerous seduction. Because despite his powerful strength and unquenchable hungers, Adam refuses to take a woman by force. Instead, he will tease his way into Gabby's bed and make her want him just as he wants her.
Now, no matter how hard Gabby tries to avoid him, Adam is everywhere, invisible to all but her—perched atop her office cubicle in too-tight jeans, whispering softly from behind the stacks of the law library, stealing her breath away with his knowing smile...all the while tempting her with the promise of unimaginable pleasure in his arms. But soon danger will intrude on this sensual dance. For as Adam's quest to regain his immortality plunges them into a world of timeless magic and the deadly politics of the Faery queen's court, the price of surrender could be their very lives. Unless they can thwart the conspiracy that threatens both mortal and Faery realms...and give them a shot at a destiny few mortals ever know: glorious, wondrous, endless love.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5AUTHOR: As with all of the books in this series, author Karen Marie Moning puts the male in peril. By means of association, a female is thrust into becoming an object of the perilous situation. In this case however, Karen is in her top sense of humor form. SYNOPSIS - THIS BOOK IS HILARIOUS!!!!ADAM BLACK is punished for assisting Dageus in book 5, “The Dark Highlander”. Aoibheal, queen of the Tuatha Dé Danann, has cast him into a human body and into a fog called the Feth Fiada causing him to lose the ability to see, hear or make contact with anyone in the “immortal” Fae realm. She sticks him right smack into middle of the 21st century with very very little of his immortal powers. Adam stumbles upon the fact that a member of the Fae Council is attempting to dethrone Aoibheal. Adam must warn the Queen. GABRIELLE (Gabby) is a Sidhe-seer. The only human capable of seeing immortals in the Fae realm. She is Irish and her ability is a trait that the females in her family have had for centuries. Realizing that she can see him, Adam gets his hands on Gabby (hmmm) and wants to use her as his eyes into the Fae realm. They are now both in peril. Adam is the only one that stands in the way of avoiding the overthrow of the queen’s throne. Gabrielle is the only one that can see Adam’s enemy Darroc as he tries to eliminate Adam. Adam and Gabrielle travel from Cincinnati to Scotland. He enlists the help of the Kelter Druid twins, Drustan and Dageus. SEX SCALE: Of the following five options: 1) NOT very descriptive and requires imagination' 2) WILL make you wiggle a little) 3) WISH it was me; 4) OH boy, do not have to use my imagination at all; 5) EROTICA and well over the top******THIS BOOK GETS A FOUR for "OH BOY, no imagination necessary". Adam is obviously droolingly handsome*****FAVORITE PART: Reactions of women when Adam is made visible. HI-LAR-I-OUS….and….All the gifts he showers upon Gabby….and….Sifting.LEAST FAVORITE PART: the entire book was so funny that I did not find a least favorite part.YOU WILL LIKE THIS BOOK IF YOU LIKE: Adam Black, a mischievous Fae at the mercy of a mortal. Adam? Someone else’s mercy? Sifting. Oh, you do not know what that is? Read to find out. Compacts. Hunters. Attempts to Overthrow. Lots of really cool Gaelic words to learn. This book gets FIVE STARS. Great humorous plot. Can you imagine Adam Black being punished and being at the mercy of a mortal woman’s ability. The stuff Adam can come up with when he gets his mind set on something. Amazing!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This had to be my favorite book in the series. I was enthralled with Adam Black from the first highlander novel and could not wait for his tale. I was not disappointed.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5This is about the Fae Queen's fool Adam. He has been screwing with humans too much and the Queen is irritated. So she takes away his powers. See what happens!
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Cute, fluffy. Just what I was in the mood for.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Karen Marie Moning is one of my favorite romance writers. This series is what opened me up to time travel and the idea of paranormal romance. It's probably because of this that is holds such a special place in my heart. I have read and reread this series countless times and still am never disappointed.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Adam Black is a immortal Faery being, who has lived for centuries. However then he is cursed and stripped of his powers and turned into a mortal, and invisible to all. He is desperate to find a way to reverse the curse, for he despises being invisible and having no abilities than a mere mortal. Gabrielle O'Callaghan has the ability to see things that a normal mortal could never hope to see; for she has the ability to see Faeries in their natural form as they roam the earth. Her grandmother had the same abilities and trained her to never let them know of it, since they are the last of their kind. She would be in great danger if even one Faery were to find out of her abilities. One night coming home from work, she views one laying on a bench and she is utterly captivated by this highly sensual being who mesmerizes and stirs up her senses. Then Adam notices that a young woman is looking at him, and he shockingly realizes that this is the one person that can save him, for she is the only one that can see him. At first Gabrielle is terrified of this being, whom she knows can destroy her in a heart beat, for she has read all about their special gifts and powers. In the book about Faery's her grandmother gave her, are tales of Faeries and their exploits and she is scared to death of them; however there is something different about Adam Black. Adam Black sticks to her side like glue and crumbling down her defenses by bringing her breakfast in bed, and doing hours and hours of work for her, and saving her life. For after she does a deed for Adam trying to talk to one of his people for help, they are now being hunted and they have to shift from place to place. Adam is more convinced than ever than his old rival is breaking their laws and hunting him and Gabrielle whom he knows he needs to protect at all costs. He can't see any of his people, only she has the ability. Adam finds himself relying on her abilities more and more. The more Gabrielle and Adam get to know one another, the closer they become and stronger the desire between them builds. Gabrielle has never known such passion as she has felt with Adam; for he is a mesmerizing being who captivates her and brings her to a sensual plane the likes of which she has never known. However there is a danger that is hunting them, and they must use every resource they can to keep from being destroyed!I was captivated all the while reading this book, I love reading Karen Marie Moning, this is only the second book that I have read from her, and I think I am beginning to fall in love with her stories; especially this one. It left me eager to read the rest of her books, hoping they are just as genuinely intense as this one seemed to be. It was filled with desire, wit, suspenseful action that leaves the reader on the edge of their seats, and a timeless magic that leaves you breathless for more. Gabrielle has such inner strength, all she wants is to get married and have a family. She has never been able to find a stable man that could accept her and her gifts. Then walks in Adam Black the most mesmerizing and sensual man she has ever met and one that she is surprised has a physical reaction to her. Despite the danger the surrounds them, she finds herself falling head over heels in love with him, despite the fact that he has lost his soul and tends to be tormented at times. Any reader will of course fall in love with Adam Black, pure Alpha male and everything that goes with it. I definitely found this character to be irresistible, and wished I had someone like him to come home to LOL. However a woman can dream can't she? But on a more serious note, I definely found this a emotionally intriguing read, that I purely thrived on and loved every moment of reading it.

One of the highlights is the connection to Moning's Fever series. While I am not a rabid fan of the books, primarily due to Mac's vacuousness and the excessively drawn out writing style, the detailed world building, engrossing Fae invasion plot and Barrons (*swoon*) make them worthwhile.
The insight in The Immortal Highlander into the backstory of a Sidhe-seer family and the history behind Darroc's relationship with Adam are particularly intriguing and add to my appreciation of both Adam and Gabby's story and Mac's struggles in the spin-off.
Another excellent aspect of the book is the return of Gwen and Drustan, and Chloe and Daegus from the previous two installments - it was great catching up with their romances.
Now to Adam and Gabby. To be honest, I was expecting more from Adam's redemption. Yes, he is gorgeous, sensual and sexy but he doesn't seem to learn humility or what it really means to be human until the last few pages. There should have been a more gradual development and recognition of his humanity. Gabrielle, on the other hand, is my type of heroine, full of spice and sass. She definitely gives Adam a run for his money and their interactions are wonderful.
Overall, this is a fun read but it doesn't quite succeed in knocking Daegus off his pedestal. - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This is probably one of my favorite books of all time. I’ve probably read it over a dozen times and this is the first time I got to listen to it. It was nice to have both experiences. I definitely will be doing the reading and the listening again.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I love the way she ended this novel! I got all teary eyed at my office haha
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Adam Black is back in action and there’s a bunch of it. This was a great story with a wonderful ending. I can’t wait for the next one!!
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Satisfying overall, it just missed something the MacKeltar ones before it had. It was interesting to see how Adam handled situations as a 'human.'
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Best damn Romance novel I have read in YEARS.. Not neccessarily for the quality of writing... but she does definatly have a knack for the sexual tension and well... sex...
