About this audiobook

A mysterious circus terrifies an audience for one extraordinary performance before disappearing into the night, taking one of the spectators along with it . . . In a novella set two years after the events of American Gods, Shadow pays a visit to an ancient Scottish mansion, and finds himself trapped in a game of murder and monsters . . . In a Hugo Award-winning short story set in a strangely altered Victorian England, the great detective Sherlock Holmes must solve a most unsettling royal murder . . . Two teenage boys crash a party and meet the girls of their dreams—and nightmares . . . In a Locus Award-winning tale, the members of an exclusive epicurean club lament that they've eaten everything that can be eaten, with the exception of a legendary, rare, and exceedingly dangerous Egyptian bird . . . Such marvelous creations and more—including a short story set in the world of The Matrix, and others set in the worlds of gothic fiction and children's fiction—can be found in this extraordinary collection, which showcases Gaiman's storytelling brilliance as well as his terrifyingly entertaining dark sense of humor. By turns delightful, disturbing, and diverting, Fragile Things is a gift of literary enchantment from one of the most unique writers of our time.

Good story, but it was nothing at all like the description. Scribd needs to fix this.

Brilliant. Surprising too. Not surprised that it was brilliant but surprised by what happened in the story. That's all.

I really enjoyed this book! I read it three times on October 3, 2022. I thought Neil Gaiman did a really good job performing this story! I thoroughly enjoyed his narration.

This has nothing to with the book itself, I love Neil Gaiman. But this book only contains the Sherlock Holmes story.

a fun little twist on Sherlock Holmes, with bonus points for throw-away literary gags. Gaiman is always a great, and this is no exception.

Nice little short story. It was interesting to listen to but a little bit predictable.

I am a Sherlock fan. Nail Gaiman’s voice is also similar to Benedikt Cumberbatch’ which was extra fun.

    Summer 2018, audiobook:

Neil Gaimen's masterpiece in honor of Arthur Canon Doyle & HP Lovecraft, based on "A Study in Scarlet."

I had a delightful time watching this play out as a "Sherlock Story" far into the future, with our unnamed duo sluthing the case, of The Great Old Ones. I laughed delightedly at the inworld advertisements showcasing even more literary characters (Vlad Tepes/Dracul, Victor Frankenstein, Spring Heeled Jack, and Dr. Jekyl). A short fast read, I can still see why this masterpiece won so many awards and is constantly on several recommendation lists.

A good story, but the description is not correct, and should be more accurate, or the audio is wrong.

This was a very interesting, rather dark take on the classic Sherlock Holmes stories. I haven't read any Lovecraft, so I can only say, the Sherlock Holmes-esque part of the story was great.

HP Lovecraft Sir Arthur Conan Doyle Written & Narrated by Neil Gaiman = WIN.

This is a short story (from Fragile Things if the reviews I've read are correct) offered as a freebie by Audible and it's written by Neil Gaiman. If you are a fan of Lovecraft and the Cthulhu mythos and/or Sherlock Holmes, this short story (seriously, 48 min) is awesome. Neil Gaiman is also a fantastic narrator, so this is a win all-round.
