    I would rate this book ? 4 1/2 stars ✨.

It has a very sad ? twist in the middle.

Amy & Dan are way to young to experience what they have.

This was fast paced and action packed and it was wickedly good. Unlike Alex Rider it's not overly sad and unlike Cherub - I like the main characters. As a reader, I relate to Amy but I love Dan's way of looking at things. They're a great team. Nellie, the au pair, is hilarious. She's laid back and loyal and can speak a seemingly million different languages. The rest of the Cahill family kind of suck, but what's an adventure story without a villain? Or ten? The plot is riveting - the mix of fiction and history is fascinating and I'm flying through the series. They're not particularly long - but then this kind of book never is - or at least never feels like it is. I can't wait to read the rest. 4.5 stars rounded up to 5.It's odd. A lot happened in this book but I'm not sure that anything actually happened. There weren't lots of clues or historical lectures but it seemed nonstop - I'm just not sure what they actually did. And the reveals! Nellie. The Man in Black. Mind blown.

A fun way to teach history, and really get kids and young adults into learning. Even as an older teen, and adult, I still learned from these books, and enjoyed the ride along the way.

Children's series fiction;adventure/mystery. Linda Sue Park's contribution provides a vivid setting, great historical details (pirates!), and plenty of adventure to satisfy young readers. This is also the book in which the identity and motives of the man in black (now dressed in gray) are revealed.

Amy and Dan Cahill are continuing their hunt for the 39 Clues and this story carries them into the world of pirates and treasure and permits them to learn information so that they can once again use their nanny, Nellie's aid.Every child loves adventure and this one is definitely one they would enjoy.

Amy and Dan are heading into the Bahamas, propelled forward by a lead they found while pursuing the last clue. Along the way yet another suspicious incident makes them look at Nellie with worried eyes. They decide the time has come to corner her, and after they rent a car and are heading to a water amusement park they take the opportunity of enclosed quarters to ask her some questions. What she tells them throws them for a loop. Grace is the one that hired Nellie, to protect the children on the hunt, and to answer to McIntyre. Amy is devastated. There are only two people in the world she trust any more, and now she learns that one of those people has been lying to her all along. With their relationship in tatters, the trio arrive at Oceanus, a famous Bahaman water park. They don't really expect to find a clue there; Dan just wanted to play. While they are enjoying the attraction, someone slips them an anonymous note, in code, directing them to check out a cave on the east side of the beach. Amy and Dan check it out, and almost get caught underwater when the tide rolls in, but then it wouldn't be a Cahill adventure if they don't face life-threatening circumstances. Amy smacks her head against the cave wall, but the kids survive, and emerge with a bear claw on a chain. Another great installment. This series has worked out its earlier kinks and really found its niche.

I loved the action and all of the near deaths in this book. I found out so many clues and can't wait to read #10

The way the authors of this series blend fact with fiction is absolutely astounding to me. I feel compelled to look up every little "fact" stated to see if it's true or simply part of the Cahill canon, but I stop myself because I REFUSE to destroy the temporary suspension of disbelief with this series (at least until I've finished it).

This is book #9 in the 39 Clues series. My fourth-grade son and I continue to enjoy this series. Amy, Dan, and their au pair Nellie head to Jamaica and continue to piece together the mystery of the 39 clues. These books are action-packed, and I think that's what has kept my son so interested in this series.

This next installment of the 39 Clues series continues strong, and presents answers to a number of very important questions -- such as, who is the man in black that has been following Amy & Dan around this whole time? We also get more of a glimpse into Nellie's real role as 'au pair', something that's been hinted at during the previous few books. One thing that surprised me in this book was a rather intense tragedy, and when it happened I kept waiting for things to turn out all right -- for a big reveal that what had happened was all a mistake, that the individual was okay, or something along those lines -- but no dice. For that reason alone, if you're reading this installment of the series with younger children, be prepared! There may be tears, and I'd suggest a discussion with the youngster over what happened. In all, however, an excellent continuation of the series. On to the final book!

One thing I have to say about this series is that I have read much more of this series than I usually do, and I think that really speaks to what compelling reads these books are. First of all, they do a great job of bringing snippets of history to life - something Rick Riordan does in his Greek mythology books too. I think this might also make tweens read more about these events. The clues and the branches of the family can sometimes be confusing, but I think that just makes kids keep reading. This one went a lot faster than the Gordon Korman one - I am surprised at how well she writes suspense and action. There is also a surprising innocent death, which is painful for the Cahills. At the end of the book, however, there are some great rewards - they discover why Nellie has always been mysterious, and why their branch of the Cahills is so important. Good one and I can't wait for the big finish!

Dan and Amy head to the Caribbean in their search for the 39 clues, but what they find is something much more important. Nelly and the mysterious Man in Black are both keeping secrets from the siblings... secrets that are about to be revealed as the series nears its conclusion.

When your Grandmother dies leaving a fortune to the ones who can solve the clues, 14 year old Amy and 11 year old Dan Cahill find themselves embroiled in a race around the world with danger lurking around every corner. Book 9 finds the siblings along with their nanny, Nellie, flying to the Bahamas following and deciphering the latest of the 39 clues. A coded note lands the trio fighting a rising tide while searching inside an ocean cave. Stories of pirate ancestors and ships' treasures fill their minds while in Jamaica. Dangerous relatives seem to show up where ever they are and leads to the death of an innocent person. Suspicion grows between the kids and Nellie, but we discover who she really is and what she is up to. Appearing in previous books, the man in black is also revealed. While I understand why middle schoolers might be drawn to this series, I lost interest in the second half of the story. The story felt long and drawn out and could only summize that award-winning author Park was given an outline and had to fill expected amount of pages. The voice actor used a screechy tone for Dan that caused me to fast forward just to get past it. This isn't a book that the average reader could follow easily without having read the series from the beginning. I needed to look up earlier book reviews to follow the many different characters and background story. Recommended. Ages 10-14.

At least the end is in sight for this series. The book finally answers the question about who Amy and Dan really are, but 9 volumes is way too long to be asking. Is it just me, or do others think this is Scholastic's feminist answer to Harry Potter? Way more female protagonists and antagonists than I'm used to seeing and the link to Anne Bonny seems gratuitous.

Like all of the other 39 Clues books I loved this one. Finally we find out what line Amy and Dan belong to. We also find out that their au pair Nellie is not necessarily who she claims she is. She has been secretly reporting in to someone else. Dan and Amy seem to gain more strength and confidence to carry out the tasks at hand. We also learn in this one the true purpose of the hunt for the 39 clues. I am just sad that I have to wait until the final book comes out. I believe that is in August.
