About this audiobook
Alastair de Grey has a single reason to live: vengeance. More beautiful than Lucifer, twice as feared, and thrice as cunning, he'll use any weapon to punish those who fooled and betrayed him-even an impertinent maid who doesn't know her place. But the more fascinated he becomes with the uppity redhead, the more dangerous his carefully designed plot becomes. For the one contingency he forgot to plan for was falling in love . . . and he cannot survive being fooled again.
Meredith Duran
Meredith Duran is the USA TODAY bestselling author of thirteen novels. She blames Anne Boleyn for sparking her lifelong obsession with British history (and for convincing her that princely love is no prize if it doesn’t come with a happily-ever-after). She enjoys collecting old etiquette manuals, guidebooks to nineteenth-century London, and travelogues by intrepid Victorian women.

- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5This book was a wonderful read. Alastair de Grey the Duke of Marwick had become a hermit, after learning his deceased wife had repeatedly betrayed him. He refuses to leave his room or communicate reasonably with anyone. Olivia Mather becomes the Dukes housekeeper so she can hunt for information about her family in his home. The story is full of twist and turns as Olivia tries to bring Alastair back into real world again while still secretly searching his private documents.Olivia was very determined in her tasks and she bullied Alastair a bit, but he needed it. I liked Alastair, his character changed a lot through out the story, he wasn't very likeable at the beginning of the book, but improved a lot the further you read. This was a different romance and I highly recommend it.I received a free copy of this book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5A terrific romance for any era. Love, love, loved this book. Unlike most romances, Olivia and Alastair are a great couple who, as opposed to becoming instant soulmates at first sight, fall in love over the course of the story the more they get to know each other. In a desperate attempt to ensure her safety from the murderous intentions of Lord Bertram, Olivia Holliday takes a position as housekeeper to Alastair de Grey, the Duke of Marwick, a prominent political figure, counting on finding information she can use against Bertram (a political rival) to keep Bertram from ever threatening her life again. Of course, there is a problem. Alastair has spent the past year locked in his bedroom, drinking and wallowing over the death of his wife. Alastair is not grieving the death of his wife but the discovery immediately afterwards that his wife had been consistently cheating on him with several of his Peers. Olivia quickly realizes in her new position of housekeeper that in order to find the information she needs she will have to get the Duke to leave his bedroom so she can search for the papers amongst the piles of paperwork he has stashed away there. Unfortunately, Alastair is not inclined to go anywhere and refuses to be moved. Olivia is left to take his slacking off household in hand and begin a campaign to get the Duke to take an interest in the world beyond his room again. It becomes a battle of wills as Alastair is determined not to be moved from his self pity and Olivia finds herself becoming invested in returning Alastair to the man he once was. Olivia is able to hold her own intellectually with Alastair much to his surprise and eventually they both begin to find enjoyment in their battle. Olivia finds herself caring for Alastair more than she could ever have foreseen and is not sure where this will leave her. Meanwhile, Alastair finds himself discovering who he is now is not the same man he once was and the change is much for the better. The story is strong and pulls you in and the characters keep you there. The romance is solid and builds as the characters begin to really see each other and fall in love. There is a bit of mystery and adventure that is brought into play and even the cheating late wife becomes more than just a one note memory. This is a wonderful romance with bright characters involved in an engaging story. Fool Me Twice is part of a series by Meredith Duran and I look forward to reading the other books in the series.I received this book in exchange for a fair and honest review.
