- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5This book is a great read for kids during halloween. Where most kids are afraid, this book would replace that fright and make fun of the scariness of halloween.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5This book is about Junie B. Jones who is a first grader and scared about Halloween. After a boy in her class told her five scary secrets about Halloween, Junie B. decided the only way to brave Halloween was to dress up as a scary clown. Unfortunately she does not end up actually scaring anyone while trick-or-treating, but instead causes her usual trouble. Finally Junie B. scared her dad when he came home from his business trip and she was unexpectedly still wearing her clown make up. Critique (Genre): This is a good example of realistic fiction because kids tell each other made up stories all the time, some of them that end up scaring the other person. Halloween also scares many younger children, and some children really enjoy trying to scare people just like Junie B. did. The characters are all developmentally appropriate for their age and the setting and plot are realistic as well. Media: Pencil Drawings
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Such a fun book for me as well as young children top read. I think that young children would get a laugh out of all the Junie B. Jones books. Junie B. Jones is afraid of Halloween because of what another chid told her. So, she decided to be a clown that had scared her and her grandmother. When she was out trick-o-treating she couldn't scare anyone but that night when he dad came back from a business trip she fell asleep with her makeup on and she scared "the pants off" her dad.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Junie is afraid of Halloween because she's been told a pile of lies about it (which she can't tell), so she tries to get out of it. With that vetoed, she comes up with a plan to be scary herself, by dressing as a clown. The other kids don't seem scared of Junie, but she gets one good scare in by the end.
- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5Very cute little book. I couldn't help but noticing the poor grammar (in the sections that weren't supposedly written by the main character).
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I loved the part when junnie.b's dad was surprised. Thank you for writing this book. From:Charmy To: the writer
