About this audiobook

MacKayla Lane was just a child when she and her sister, Alina, were given up for adoption and banished from Ireland forever.

Twenty years later, Alina is dead and Mac has returned to the country that expelled them to hunt her sister’s murderer. But after discovering that she descends from a bloodline both gifted and cursed, Mac is plunged into a secret history: an ancient conflict between humans and immortals who have lived concealed among us for thousands of years.

What follows is a shocking chain of events with devastating consequences, and now Mac struggles to cope with grief while continuing her mission to acquire and control the Sinsar Dubh—a book of dark, forbidden magic scribed by the mythical Unseelie King, containing the power to create and destroy worlds.

In an epic battle between humans and Fae, the hunter becomes the hunted when the Sinsar Dubh turns on Mac and begins mowing a deadly path through those she loves.

Who can she turn to? Who can she trust? Who is the woman haunting her dreams? More important, who is Mac and what is the destiny she glimpses in the black and crimson designs of an ancient tarot card?

From the luxury of the Lord Master’s penthouse to the sordid depths of an Unseelie nightclub, from the erotic bed of her lover to the terrifying bed of the Unseelie King, Mac’s journey will force her to face the truth of her exile, and to make a choice that will either save the world…or destroy it.

The best! Bonus track by Jericho Barrons is awesome and chilling at the same time.

I really, really, really wanted to LOVE LOVE LOVE this book. I was prepared to hand over 5 stars like I was an easy lay. Seriously. Because I think bad boy Jericho Barrons is sexy like rawr! I think V'lane is sexy like rawr! Mac kicks ass! And the MacKeltar druids? Do I need to say more?

    Sadly, yes I do.

Shadowfever is the end of the Fever Series, the 5th book in arc. It got 3 stars because it answered most of the questions I had to my satisfaction. Also the smexy between Barrons and Mac was....RAWR. Animal. Yum!

But for the whole book I really wanted to tear Mac's head off her freeking shoulders. And then shove it into to chest cavity. And kick her. Because for the sweet love of all that is right and holy in this world she would not SHUT. THE. FUCK. UP. It seemed like nearly this entire book was in Mac's head. With Mac's 15 gazillion questions. And OMG! If it hadn't been for the fact that it was the end of the series I seriously would have given up.

That is a crying shame really because KMM creates some awesome characters. She does sexual tension and angst amazingly well. The Fever world is breathtaking in it's complexity and depth, the dialog is clever, snarky and fun. I'm glad to hear there will be another three books set in this world but I won't hang around for all of them if the first one ends up anything like this. :(

Wow. What a great read. A lot of twists and turns and characters who aren’t what they seem. JB and Mac. What a fun relationship. I love Jericho!

So my normal review layout is going to be a bit different because of this story, but I don’t want to reveal too much about this story just my general thoughts on it. Now first off I will say that this was the best book of the series. We really see Mackayla be honest with herself more than in any other book. Which is what I liked most. We still have the bantering between Jericho Barrons and Mac, but there was more in the relationship that happens in this book, than the previous books. The bantering got annoying after a while, I mean we had five books of it, and most of the time I wanted to shake them and say “wake up and smell the flowers” and be honest with each other. I really enjoyed the world building that Karen Marie Moning has done with these books. Her other paranormal series, we see the beginnings of what happens in this happen, but the focus is on the actual romance, but these books the focus was the dangerous world of the fae and how it collides with the humans. I loved seeing the MacKeltars in this book, boy do I love them and poor Christian, I adored this supporting character and he does get a run of bad luck right? I hated what we learn about V’lane to be honest, because he was so amusing to me. But it did blow me away which is what Moning probably was trying to do, really shock her readers. What we learn about Barrons and his eight, well that was exciting and fun. I do hope in the spin off series, they ease off on Mac, because she isn’t as bad as they think, but one thing I liked about them was how they force her to face up to the truth and threatening her life all at the same time. And when Jericho and Mac finally come together, I wanted to do a little dance because honestly these two were giving me a headache. I don’t know if any of you felt the same way but honestly these two could really get on the nerves if you let them. But what was most satisfying is when these two stop their bickering, and actually be honest about how they feel and the sex in this was HOT!! I mean the whole series is that way honest, very sensual in moments you don’t expect. I really liked the narrator, but I don’t like how they changed narrators in the middle of the series, that was annoying. I was really loving the narrator for the first few books, and then they change it up on you, and it took a while to get used to this new one, but she grew on me. This is by far the best book of the series, and holy cow Mac’s parents are just so fun aren’t they? And I hated and loathed Rowena more in this story than in any other books, boy I loved what happened to her (I know I am bad, but for real she was awful). Especially with what she had Dani do, I know from hearing about the spin off series, that something would drive a wedge between Mac and Dani, but wow I didn’t see that one coming. So many shocks and truths we learn, but some things were left hanging but Moning I would bet did that on purpose. I am curious to know if Dani and Mac work out their issues, if we see more of Christian, and Barrons eight—I would love to see more of them especially Rioden. He was super sexy. Overall I liked this series, but not sure if I would ever read or listen to them again, I am planning on reading her spin off series eventually. But I wouldn’t mind reading her Highlander series again, those are still and always will be my favorites of this author. If you have yet to read this author, I would highly encourage you to do so, she is spectacular in her writing and will win you over even if you don’t want it to happen. Loved this book and I adore this author, excited to see what comes next.

Wow. Incredible. And highly recommended. I cannot believe I went so long without enjoying this series! Once I started, I could not stop. I read all 5 books in a week.

Considering that this was a pretty long series and that so many questions were raised in all five books I was extremely pleased to have not only had all of them answered (except for one), but answered in a way that wasn't corny or predictable. That was one major thing; this series was anything but predictable. As soon as you had an idea of what the hell was going on you got thrown for a loop and were given a completely different answer to the mountain of questions. Reading all of them at once was a bit overwhelming at times because of the mystery to everything going on; got a little hard to keep up sometimes. I loved that it wasn't foreseeable or expected... I loved that I thought I had it all figured out but wasn't even close. I absolutely loved it.

The one small unanswered question or.. situation that I would've liked seen resolved: Dani. We find out Alina's killer and 'What?! It was WHO?!' Completely out of left field. Then we find out (and feel completely guilty for immediately hating Dani) that she was forced to do it by Rowena. We don't know what happened to her, they never duked it out, nothing. Considering she was such a huge part of the story I didn't feel she got the ending she deserved. But then again, maybe it's not the ending. :)

Now that I've finished the series, I really want to go back and be able to read them again to be able to understand what's going on when it's actually happening. :) Definitely taking up permanent residence on my favorite books of all time.

If there is one thing I can't stand in series books, it's the inability to pick up a book anywhere in the series and understand what's going on. I couldn't stomach the first disc of this overly emo drama of naval gazing book. I had no clue what was going on, save a dead body and the whiny main character. To me, epic fail. MAYBE if I read the rest of the series, it would help, but I don't like the feel of this book's start. It feels like the author took a 500k word book and just split it up into chunks. And it sucks.

Finally some sense to this series all your questions and Mac's answered. A great 1st part of the series very long but worth the time. I'm an auto book reader I had to restart 4 times to stay caught up. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. Well done KMM

Basically, every single one of these books makes me want to break into song and dance! They got the UNSEELIE oooooooout!! Shoulder. Chin. Shoulder, shoulder, shoulder. DOUBLE DREAM HANDS!!!! There may be minor spoilers in this review. They are mainly just spoilers about the general feeling of the end result, definitely not about any specifics or plot twists. I don't think it's any big spoiler to say that by the end of this book, the Unseelie are mostly wiped out of Dublin. Most people probably assumed that would happen or at least hoped. As I sit here wearing my "Dublin rocks" t-shirt (I'm not exaggerating), pondering and daydreaming, I have come across a great revelation. I am ruined. I am ruined for every single other urban fantasy. I am ruined for every other paranormal romance. Hell, I'm ruined for every other book EVER. How could I go back to YA after this? How can I go on in urban fantasy when I started at the top? How can I ever read another book again?!?! Of course, I'm being melodramatic but somewhere inside, I feel it's true. I know I'll get over it. Eventually. While I loved it, I had quite a few issues with this book, so here we go: 1. The Dani Perspective - Dani is a relentless spitfire. Unfortunately that means what often spews forth from her is fire and it's painful. It burns my eyes and my brain. I love Dani but enough with the rambling, woman! I felt like every time we were dumped into Dani's head, it was tedious and unnessecary. A technique that is used by writers of lesser talent to rachett up the tension between the scenes that you actually want to be in. KMM is better than that. She doesn't need to use this ploy. Not to mention, it's annoying as feck inside Dani's head. 2. The Gimmicks - The Dani Daily, the quotes and song lyrics before every "part", the conversations with the Sinsar Dubh, switching of perspectives. Once again, KMM is better than this. And if all these things are so important to the mythology of the series, where were they in all the previous books? Why fling these on us now? We didn't need them. All it did was take away from time I'd rather be spending with our main characters. 3. The info dumps and recaps - By the halfway point, I felt like almost nothing had happened. So much time was spent rehashing past events and reintroducing red herrings and 'clues'. This was happening much more often than was necessary. Along with tons of internal dialogue and speculation. Am I this? Am I that? Is he this or that? Blah blah blah. Just get to the action. 5. Lovetastic Endless Forever Love - Yes, its what we've always wished for! But as soon as Barrons and Mac got together and (sort of) declared their love, I was bored. I know that's childish of me but I wanted hate sex! Not loooooove sex. Boring! I know that once again I'm being melodramatic but KMM basically turned us into Pavlov's dogs, training us to drool every time Barrons acted animalistic. And she did it with good reason. I felt the scenes thereafter were a little too cheesealicious. And apparently, Barrons has a magic wingding!Oh damn, I'm drooling again... MEEEEEE-YOW! 4. And the thing that pisses me off the most - I still don't know what the feck Barrons is! I mean, I know "what" he is, but I don't know why or what the hell it has to do with the rest of the story. It's like she took two completely unrelated stories and mythologies and meshed them together. It frustrates me quite a bit. But do I care? A little. Would I take any of it back? Hell no. The way I see it is: it's about the journey not the destination. Much the way I felt at the end of Lost - What the batman was the smoke monster? Maybe it was Batman! The effing writers don't even know!! And Battlestar Galactica - I still don't know what the bejesus Starbuck was? Was she Jesus?? Hell if I know! Hell if she knows! Sure, I was disappointed that I didn't get the exact answers that I wanted. I'm not always sure if I got ANY answers (mainly with Lost). But regardless - the journey was incredible, intense, and inspiring. If I had been hung up on the answers, I never would have been able to feel the full range of the emotions of the characters. I wouldn't have been able to vicariously live out adventures through the people in the book or on the screen. If I only focused on the logic and found myself unable to suspend my disbelief, I'd have the emotional range of a robot (well, these days that might be becoming less and less limited but you get what I'm saying, I hope.) Maybe life isn't always about the answers, maybe it's about the search. I love it when you get inside a book. You become the book - flowing out of and into it like some sort of monster, helplessly attached. KMM's books are the Sinsar Dubh and I am the Beast. Overall, i was consumed by these books. I loved the series, the story arch and the characters. What an amazing journey! I feel like dancing around throwing confetti, riding a magic carpet through the sky while singing, and slathering my face with birthday cake!! I don't know what to do with myself now. I'm going to have to revert to the hermit version of myself, who can only be consoled by eating peanut butter and apple slices while watching Buffy or Battlestar reruns and is only truly happy while watching and singing along to the Buffy Musical "Once More with Feeling." We've all talked before about who should play the characters in a movie, but I've changed my mind -- I don't want a movie. I WANT A FECKIN TV SHOW!!!! I want to see Barrons every damn week. Not just two hours of glorious hotness and beauty in one year. I want twenty-two hours!! For years to come. Don't you want to see someone who looks similar to this on TV? Seriously. With the mega success of shows like the Vampire Dairies and True Blood, why hasn't someone come up with something to compete or stand on the same level but from a different mythology. With the right people at the helm, this could. This could surpass it. Not to mention, I would love to see Kristen Bell on a series again and she's perfect for Mac. God knows it would be difficult to find a man hot enough to play Barrons, but it would be so worth it when they did. I'm actually getting goosebumps talking about seeing him on my TV every week. Really, only in a TV show, could the characters fully be explored and fleshed out. Only then could we really experience their changes. Shadowfever was the #1 NYT Bestseller. That HAS to speak for the power of it's reach and it's fans.

You know a book (series) is epic when…1. You cannot put it down. Literally. All life around you becomes unimportant. Sleep? Don't need it. Food? Will accommodate as long as you can eat one-handed while holding your Kindle in the other.2. You invest in the characters. You dream of them. You wish you could meet them. You want to be them. You miss them when they are gone. More than you miss your family. 3. The story comes to life. You are driving down the street expecting to see a rhino-boy at any moment (or insert fictional creature of your choice).4. You are in love with one of the characters and if he showed up on your doorstep you could die happy. Jericho Z. Barrons. Enough said.5. Even the secondary characters that you know next to nothing about pique your interest so much that you want to stalk the author until she promises to write a book about them and then stalk her until she actually writes it and you have it in your hands. This is what the Fever series did to me. I finished Shadowfever two days ago and I am craving more. I miss Barrons so much. *Sigh* There's not much else to say. I knew it was going to end eventually but still I went through it as fast as I could because I had to find out what was going to happen. As they say, don't cry because it's over, be happy because it happened. I'm happy.

I listened to all of these books back to back. This one was really a disappointment. I found so many parts of it so incredibly boring! Parts of it were so out there and not necessary. The only parts I enjoyed were with Barrons and there wasn’t near enough of him! Her constant inner conversations drove me nuts! This one was just not for me!!

I was afraid to start reading this because I have been disappointed by series endings before, but KMM drew me in again and answered my questions with series, wrapped up cliff hangers and satisfied me with the ending, without leaving a bitter taste in my mouth.

Don't read this book unless you have read the other four, which also benefit from some of her Highlander series. (I'm now ready for Christian Keltar's story.)

I read it in one day: afternoon to early evening.

I can't express how much I enjoyed this book, it evolved much more than the first instalment.

It has almost everything you might wish in a finale.

    Points slightly spoilery points:

*we partially get to know what is Jericho Barrons, we still don't where was he created nor how or what's his definite purpose, him and his companions
*the author finally shed shone light on the evil book and what it exactly wanted, and fanally put it to use or rather to rest
*Mackayla roses to her full potential and fully accept what she's becoming or maybe what she alwas had been.
*We unravel the mastery death of her sister and killer.
*More knowledge about the fae history and realms
*FINALLY MACKAYLA GETS SOME SENSE INTO HER BRICK OF A HEAD AND ACCEPTS HER RELATIONSHIP WITH THE ONE THAT'S ACTUALLY NOT TRYING TO STAB HER IN THE BACK!
    *Good riddance of certain characters

In summoned words its the near full package for a logical, quite happy ending.

And it's deeply satisfies my disappointed self in the rest of the books.

PS- the one thing I did not like (among other ones of course) and what irked me the most was that there was waay too much detailed recaps of the other books, its like rereading previous scenes form previous ones word by word and that's just get waaay boring, this book had a total of 600 pages, it could've been less if the author knew how to summarize half of what she recounted.

This book was perfect. I won't go into any detail, because I think that would just take something away from its brilliance. It's one of those rare books that you read and think, "Wow! That was exactly what I wanted in every way".

I had a love-hate relationship with the previous books in the series, giving them 3 or 4 stars. But this was the perfect conclusion, it turned everything I thought I knew from the previous books on its head. The writing was absolutely stunning compared to the sometimes mediocre stuff in the other books. The answers to all those mysteries were incredibly satisfying. I grew to love the characters and the world and everything.

    Enjoy!

For you visual learners, what it feels like to read this series

Even though I never rated an individual book 5 stars, I think these 5 first books, taken as a whole, deserve a 5 star rating. It was engrossing and addicting, even when it was going off the rails.

The endless and what turned out to be pointless tangents the story went off on though, really started to grate on me. I know they were there to lead us readers down the wrong paths and to keep us guessing but after a while I started to find myself becoming less invested because I knew nothing was going to come of where Mac was heading.

Still, the world building was amazing and I definitely recommend this to any and all; must like fantasy/paranormal.

The next time you all come at me to read a series I'm going to run away crying, this stole my life for a couple days.

What a ride this series was, though at times, it was slow moving and bumpy. I found the ending satisfying, though I'm not still not convinced that it's love between Mac & Barrons. One time Mac mentioned seeing lust and fury in Barrons' eyes and that sums up their relationship to me. I think my problem was that I was doing what Barrons told Fiona and Mac not to do, romanticize him. When Barrons says this to Mac near the end of the book, I realized that I needed to do the same.

“I’m not the hero, Mac. Never have been. Never will be. Let us be perfectly clear: I’m not the antihero, either, so quit waiting to discover my hidden potential. There’s nothing to redeem me.”

So while I don't think it's a love match, they are right for each other.

The twist and turns in this book astounded me; I didn't see them coming and I couldn't believe them either. The truth about the Seelie Queen and especially, V'lane, blew my mind. I wanted to kill him. I wanted Mac and Barrons to destroy him. He put her through so much hell. The kicker is that I liked him before this. I didn't want V'lane and Mac together, but I was hoping they could remain friends. Ha!

If it wasn't for my emotional investment in Mac, I probably wouldn't have continued reading this series. Many times I felt it was moving too slow, talking about unimportant details. A lot of the plot was dragged on, IMO. Sometimes I felt like I was watching Lost all over again. So while it wasn't the best series I've ever read, my feelings for the characters will stay with me.

ETA: One thing I wanted to mention and I forgot. The main thing that pissed me off about Barrons was how he didn't want to answer ANY of Mac's questions! Not one, as if she didn't have a right to know. She definitely did. A lot of the grief she suffered was due to lack of knowledge that Barrons' could have provided. Plus, he was just a jackass to her all the time.

WOW. THIS BOOK WAS SO LONG AND SO AMAZING.

Well, it's not the longest I've read, but it seemed longer than it was (in a good way) because there was so much going on. The Duality sort of confused me. When she is in the white mansion. Your constantly wondering what and who Mac is. I think it's funny how Mac says that she's bi-polar, and while you read this book, you can see all the different attitude flips. I myself have a few friends/family how are indeed bi-polar, and you can see it. One second she is terrified, next it's EXTREME despair/agony, then it's a rage and hatred so deep she seems different, and of course she gets a kiss and is her pink bubbly self again. I think the flips in her attitude are part of what make her such an interesting character to read. I need to reread the series, to catch everything again.

    Questions that DO get answered:
    Who's the King?
Where's the Queen? Who is the Queen?
    Who killed Alina?
What is Mac? Who is Mac?
    Is her family ok?
What is Barrens after the book for?
What is Vlayne after it for?

There is just so much in this book that if you say one thing you end up spoiling so much. So let's just say that this book has everything you can imagine, and everything you want, plus way more.

    Shadowfever
    3 Stars

Shadowfever is a huge disappointment. The world building and secondary characters are intriguing and make you want to continue, as does Phil Gigante's narration, which is completely captivating. Nevertheless, Mac's incessant drivel and the endless repetition of scene after scene from earlier installments ruin it all.

The first 1/4 of the book drags on and on with no end in sight. I found myself begging Moning to "GET ON WITH IT ALREADY" and was on the verge of calling it quits when Barrons finally put in an appearance and the plot actually began to move forward albeit slowly.

In general, the storyline is good with some compelling twists and turns. However, the slow pacing and constant diversions with Mac's never ending rumination detract from the tension and suspense, and by the time the surprising revelation finally arrives, you've lost interest and couldn't care less.

Mac seriously gets on my nerves. Her woe is me attitude and sexual attraction to every male in the series are tiresome, and I cannot, for the life of me, understand what the hell they all see in her. If she weren't the heroine, I would agree with Ryordan that she needs to be killed.

In sum, if the book focused on Barrons as the main character, the plot was tightened up and the page count reduced by 200 pages or so, then Shadowfever would rate 5 stars. However, even Mac and Barrons' silent conversations and their intense sexual chemistry cannot compensate for the inherent shortcomings of the disjointed writing and poor pacing.

I might continue with the spin-off series as Dani is an endearing character but I will probably wait for more books to be published before getting into it as Moning has a nasty reputation for cliffhangers.

I can't believe that it's finally over, after waiting every painstaking year for the next one in the series. All questions have been answered, some which have been completely unexpected and some which we kind of figured out. So many revelations, this book kept me on the edge of my seat. It starts off where Dreamfever left off, so i had to go back and read that first - I was confused after reading the first chapter of Shadowfever, it had been that long! Shadowfever took me by surprise, it was sooo good, my favourite of the series now!

If this would have been book number one in the series, I would not have read any of the rest. It seems as though she was paid by the word and she babbled on and on about anything and everything.

It's been a while since I've had a book that pulled my in so completely that I can't put it down. One day. That's all it took to finish this 600 page conclusion, and I'm thinking about starting it all over again, just to really absorb every minute detail.

KMM does not disappoint in the final book of her Fever series, and I have to say this is my favorite author by far, for this genre. I wish other authors would take note, as this is how a series should end. I wish I could say more, but I would hate to give away any major details. I will say this, however. The *new characters that showed up in this book, was the icing on this sinful cake!

Ok...where do I start, other than to saw this was AWESOME!!!!

At the beginning of the book, I was a little stunned. I must say, the whole Barrons being the beast thing didn't actually surprise me, but the fact that Mac had a total meltdown over it....not what I was expecting at all! I figured she would have a good cry and want to lay down and die a little...not go all crazy chick on everything in her path! I am impressed that she did and totally love her for it. But it was still unexpected. She always finds a way to surprise me.

Dani really stepped up in this book and I loved seeing her that way. I was a little surpised that she was the one who led Alina to slaughter (even though the fact that it was all Rowena's doing didn't stun me in the least...bitch). I know Mac truly loves her, and when Barrons was speaking with her about it so calmly, telling her that she really needed to think hard about killing her...LOVED HIM THEN!! It showed a side of him that I was hoping to see but didn't really expect to.

On the topic of Barrons...jealous much?? I knew it from the beginning, but man did he ever show it! I was not expecting his son to be alive (so to speak) and can't imagine what he was going through. I still can't belive that he actually opened up to Mac so much after she discovered his son (and was almost killed in the process...sad to say, it was one of my favorite scenes though). I figured Barrons would have been pissed...his usual self. Maybe it was the fact that he saw her throat ripped out, I don't know. But he definitely put himself out there for her to see and it was great.

V'Lane being Cruce?? Actually didn't surprise me in the least. There was always something about him that just didn't click right. Although I always thought hat he and Mac would be awesome together if the while Barrons thing didn't work out...actually, that opinion still stands. I fully believe that V'Lane/Cruce DID have genuine feelings for her in some way. It may not have been the best match, you know...with the whole him trying to become the Unseelie King and all and being pretty evil...but it still would have been interesting.

DEG....totally a little selfish. I was not expecting him to be the King (but I was glad that it wasn't Mac...will get to THAT thought in a minute) and I know he kind of helped out at the end...but he still left everyone to deal on their own after he picked up his Concubine. I understand that he was happy to see her and all, but he could have helped Mac out with the Song of Unmaking at the very least. That pissed me off to be honest. The one thing that Barrons had actually asked for, she couldn't get and I'm pretty sure the King could have done something about it after all she had been through. Really....would it have been that hard?

Now Mac...Concubine? Unseelie King? Book? Fae? Holy identity crisis much? I'm happy that she found her way and has a real chance to be happy now. I think she really deserves it and worked her ass off to get there. I was thrilled that she was willing to pretty much give herself up to give Barrons the spell he wanted for his son and was overjoyed when he wouldn't let her. Guess the thought really does count when it comes to Barrons...who knew? Smart chick though....didn't see the K'Vruck thing coming. I never would have even thought of using him to kill Barrons' son. It is sad that he had to die, but happy that they found peace over it. I do have one problem though (I love how things change so much in this series) what the hell IS Mac? Thinking that about Barrons all this time, I never really thought much about her. Maybe I missed it (I DID stay up til 3am finishing this, lol) but I can't remember actually finding out what she really is? I know she has the book inside her, which makes her somehow part of the King. I know the King has been keeping an eye on her all these years (although other than the prophecy bit, I really can't put my finger on why). To be honest, I was surprised that she didn't end up being the Seelie Queen at the end. That's is what I figured would happen, although I'm glad it didn't. Would have seriously done some damage to her and Barrons' relationship I think. But seriously, what is she??? Did I miss something important?

All in all, I loved this book. I still have some unanswered questions (but that might just be me missing parts in my all-nighter reading marathon to finish) and thoughts about how things should have been...but this rollercoaster ride was great! So sad that it had to end, although I'm not sure I could have taken much more. I haven't felt so strongly reading a book in, well....ever.

The Fever series followed her Highlander series. I loved the Highlander series and hope she writes more of them, This series takes place in Ireland and follows an American girl that goes to Ireland to find who killed her sister. The people that she meets are not all they seem to be and they have diffident agendas of their own. Fairies, magic, and supernatural beings co-exist with the humans. This series does absolutely need to be read in order.

My 2nd time reading this book.

The first time I read this book, I thought it was the last. I can't begin to express how incredibly happy I am that there will be more. Mac finally let's Barrons see how she feels. This is epic, but she also finally confronts the evil she's been chasing. Which is just as epic. We see just how much she's grown over the course of the five books. We see how much Barrons has opened up as well. I wish we'd had a little more closure with Dani, however I've begun reading Iced now, so I'm sure I'll get that closure this time around. I love Moning's writing and can't wait for more Mac books to be written and published.
