Saria Boudreaux grew up on the Louisiana Bayou, which may explain why she feels a special affinity to the place's eeriest secrets. However, even Saria is taken aback when she finds several corpses all containing leopard bites. She fears for her older brothers, who are were-leopards though she knows her siblings would not commit these atrocities.

Saria decides not to call the cops, but instead contacts the land owner Jake Bannaconni. He sends Drake Donovan to investigate the serial killings. At first sight (and sniff) Drake realizes that Saria is his mate as he struggles to control his euphoric inner leopard. He also senses she is on the verge of her first shift. As he makes inquiries into the murders and starts his courtship of his beloved, Drake learns a lesson about life on the Bayou when none of the leopard-shifting families including Saria's kin cooperate.

This story could have gone in some interesting directions and places, as the South, and Louisiana especially, is rich fodder for authors. But for some reason Christine Feehan doesn't utilize the tools she is given. Its like she has never met a person from the South, never seen a swamp, never felt that all pervading mugginess of the Deep South. She doesn't explore the personalities that grow in the South, she doesn't really visit the flavor of the Creole. I liked the characters for what they could have been. Hopefully she will improve this series in time.

Definitely my favorite of the series so far. This was more plot driven than some of the previous books and I really liked that. At it's heart is a murder mystery, with the victims apparently killed by leopards. The main couple in this, Saria and Drake, are great together and have a good chemistry. Not as much macho posturing as in the other books. And I loved the setting in the swamps. This was a good read.

This is hands down my favorite Feehan book -- any series!!! I love Drake, he has that sexy powerful alpha male attitude. Combined with the desperate need for his female. Saria has a combination of innocence and "street smarts" to make her an interesting female.

I wish that Feehan focused on the series more. But then, we'd probably end up with the same alpha male lead that is cranked out in her books like the Drake series, Ghostwalker Series, and the Drak Series. I am not sure why the leopard series is so much better than the rest of her books.

Anyways, this is a must read book!

Once again Christine Feehan writes a story that will keep you reading. There wasn't much conflict between her Hero & Heroine in this story, it was more how they stood together in all they faced.

This story is a little different from the previous books. It isn't set in the rain forests of the world but in the swamps of Louisiana. We see a lair that is in trouble in this story which has not been the case in previous ones. In the other stories the woman didn't know they were leopards because they had either not been raised by their parents or their parents had been killed when they were very young. In this case Saria knows that her brothers are shifters but they have never told her that she might be able to shift. I have always been fascinated with the people that live and make a living in the swamps. These are a dangerous and disorientating. There are few landmarks and it is difficult to see the sky most of the time. It is also a very beautiful place from a distance. It isn't a place I would ever want to spend any time in but I can admire the people and the area.I was thrilled that this is Drake Donovan's story. I have been wondering if he would ever be able to shift again. I almost cried the first time it happened. He seemed to feel so much joy in being able to let his cat run free after so much time. This story is a little more from Drake's point of view. Ms. Feehan brings out his feelings about meeting Saria. He is so shaken by the intensity of what he feels whenever he kisses her. His joy at being able to shift and finding his mate is very distracting. However he is all alpha male and use to leading a group of dominate males on rescue missions. I think that he is just the person that these people need to lead them.Saria Boudreaux has more or less raised herself from the time she was ten years old. Her leopard loves the swamp and it the one place that she seems to find peace. She is highly intelligent, creative and more than a little stubborn. She is trying very hard to make a living off her photography. She also runs the family store and bar by herself. I am not real impressed with her brothers. Instead of protecting her and helping her when she was young that have left her alone to fend for herself. Saria is strong and not one to complain about her lot in life. She has carved out a place for herself and she is very happy with where she is. I sometimes wish we were all a little more like her. She is one of my favorite female characters. She isn't bitchy or whiny. She can be a little sassy and she has a good sense of humor. She is open minded and more accepting of what Drake explains to her than most would be.I think that this is the best book of this series so far. I loved the secondary characters the author brought to such vibrant life, Pauline, Amos, all of Saria's brothers, and Jerico. I can always hope that at least the brothers and Jerico get their own story. The villain in this story was a surprise and just as despicable as any of Ms. Feehan bad guys. The sex scenes are some of the best in fiction, there may not be a lot of them but they are scorching hot. This is a great paranormal romance.

Struggled to get into this. I was bored for the first third of the book and though I carried on reading for a bit longer, I didn't see it getting better so I'm stopping right now and marking it as DNF.

I loved this story! I really liked that the conflict of the story was outside of the relationship. I really liked both of the characters and enjoyed watching them fall in love. I also liked that Feehan didn't make "the first changing to a leopard" the focus of the story since that has already been done in prior books. I liked the plot and thought it had enough suspense to be enjoyable without being over the top. The only annoyance was how he kept explaining to us why everything she did was so brilliant.

Saria Bordeaux, is part of a family of leopard shifter, so when she finds a dead body in the bayou, she knows she needs to find help, and knows that she can't turn to her brothers, when its obvious the one doing the killing is a shifter. Drake Donovan has been sent to investigate upon hearing about the killing, and is drawn to Saria in a way he has never been drawn to a woman before. Drake knows that there is much more to Saria than meets the eye, and is earnest in finding the killer. Saria, has the strongest feeling upon meeting Drake that he is someone that she can trust, even more than her own brothers. The hunger that is building between her and Drake is powerful, and the connection between them genuine, so much so that she starts to wish for a future with him....Savage Nature is the fifth installment in the Leopard series by Christine Feehan. I just was so captivated by this story, so far I have truly enjoyed reading this series, but I think this would have to be my favorite book in the series. From the first page I was drawn into the story, the characters were so genuine and real, that I was left feeling like I was in their place, the writing was with such talent that I felt I was seeing it happening for real. The plot was intense and full of a roller coaster ride of suspense and romance. A Thrilling Tale!!!! One you don't want to miss out on if your a fan of Christine Feehan!!!!

This book was a lot better, in my opinion, than the book that preceded it, Burning Wild. This involves a character we met in Burning Wild and is a lot less dark. Drake Donovon goes to Louisiana to investigate some recent deaths. He meets local guide Saria and there is instant attraction. It doesn't take Drake long to realize he has walked into a hidden Leopard lair, and that something evil lurks among them. He and Saria work together to solve the mystery while Drake also works to win over Saria. A much better Leopard book than the first, with romance that hooks the reader immediately. The characters are well-rounded and fun, the antagonist a surprise, and we get a great happy ending.

I have only read the short story that fits into the Leopard People series, so I am sure there is much that I am missing about this series. I wanted to read this book mostly because of the Louisiana bayou setting, my home state. Even though I spent most of my life in Louisiana, I did not spend much time at all in the bayou, so this was as much a nostalgic experience as an education for me. I found Christine Feehan's descriptions and uses of the setting to be very well written and quite engrossing, as this actually kept me involved enough in the book to keep reading, over the actual plot.Much like when I read the short story in Fantasy by Christine Feehan, I found the plot to be overly dramatic and forced. Every scene, every interaction was told with such extreme emotion that I had to wonder if these characters ever had a chance to relax. The melodrama felt like something out of a t.v. soap opera with no natural flow to the time line.I did like a few of the characters, such as Saria and the woman who ran the inn. Many of the characterizations matched the typical stereotypes of the Cajun people who reside in the backwaters of Louisiana. The dialogue hinted at the Cajun accent without muddling the vocabulary so much that I would have difficulty reading it.While I loved Christine Feehan's use of Louisiana culture in Savage Nature (Leopard), I do not think I will be continuing to read any more of the Leopard People series.

I love this book, I started reading it and just could not put it down. These are two of the best written characters I have encountered in a very long time. They are realistic and are very in tune with themselves. It is refreshing to read about an Alpha Male who understands his female mate must be independent and strong, while the Alpha Female understands her males needs to take care of her at times and that allowing that does not mean she is weak.

“Savage Nature” is the 5th book in Christine Feehan’s leopard series and tells the tale about Drake Donovan. Drake has been in the Leopard series since the beginning and sustained a leg injured that made it impossible for him to shift. I the last novel his employer and friend, Jake Bannaconni had found surgeons to fix and graph Drake’s leg together to the point where he is able to shift again after 2 years. Drake is a dominant, alpha leopard and the need to be free and roam is overwhelming. Drake arrives to the swamps of the Mississippi river to investigate the claims of a shifter who is killing. An anonymous letter was sent to Jake from Fenton Marsh, property leased to 7 families by Jake’s grandfather that describes bodies killed by a leopard bite. When Drake arrives and meets his guide, Saria Boudreaux, and realizes she is his mate and is very close to The Han Vol Dan. The Han Vol Dan is when a female shifts for the first time and also goes into heat and accepts males in invitation for mating. Hopefully at this time she will be around her mate at the time since she will be throwing off strong sex hormones that entices other males to be more aggressive in order to fight for her. Saria seems rather oblivious to her nature. Drake also discovers that the town is a hidden leopard lair fun by a man by the name of Amos Jeanmard. He is one of the 7 families, who are all shifters, and there seems to be more to this investigation than a simple murder spree. Drake soon finds himself knee deep in trouble between family matters with Saria and her 5 brothers, the mismanagement of the lair and the 7 families, and the killer who shifts their focus to Saria, Drake and his team. This book was fast paced and full of many different plot aspects that kept you guessing on where our characters would end up that the reader was always engaged. The characters took over this story with their actions and history and you grew to love them and want them all to succeed. Saria is a great female for our Drake who has been crying for his own story for many books. I love that there isn’t an overabundance of carnality or bearing your soul moments between the 2 characters. Christine Feehan achieves the perfect balance in this book of action; plot twists, romance, passion, and dialogue to keep your eyes on each line and the pages flying by. The beautiful descriptions of the wildlife and the environment and the passion the characters use for their home is palpable. I was slightly disappointed with the rather shortness in the end, but I felt the story rounded out nicely. Fans of the leopard series should be very excited with this edition. It was in my opinion the best novel to date in the series and I gave it 5 stars. I hope she continues to write about our leopard shifters because as a group they have many stories to tell.

Its fun to see some of the same characters and meet new ones. Drake has had his leg operated on and he is ready to see if he can change into a panther again. He has not been able to do it for over 2 years and had given up on being able to change again.Saria is a young woman who has run wild in the swamps around her family. Her dad was a drunk and her mom died when she was little and her brothers were older by at least 8 years and she was alone with her dad for years while her brothers left home for armed forces. She is a guide in the swamp and is starting to get recongition for her photos. she cooked clean house and worked traped aligators, fished and hunted and mangage the store and bar her family has had in the swamp from 10 years old. While she is in the swamp at night in a blind trying to get a photo of baby birds she notices strange things in a remote place no one goes too. so after they leave she goes and finds a dead body that has been killed with a knife and panther bite. She found out really young that her brothers were able to shift into panthers and as far as she knew none else can do that and her brothers dont talk to her about it. Her oldest brother is a homacide detective so she doesnt want to go to police. So she writes a letter to owner of the land jake and sneaks it out and Drake and his team come to find out who the murder is and whats going on thier; I enjoyed the book. skiped pages of love scenes.
