About this audiobook

From the #1 New York Times bestselling author of Who Moved My Cheese?, a brilliant new parable that shows readers how to stay calm and successful, even in the most challenging of environments.

A young man lives unhappily in a valley. One day he meets an old man who lives on a mountain peak. At first the young man doesn’t realize that he is talking to one of the most peaceful and successful people in the world. But in the course of further encounters and conversations, the young man comes to understand that he can apply the old man’s remarkable principles and practical tools to his own life to change it for the better. Spencer Johnson knows how to tell a deceptively simple story that teaches deep lessons. The One Minute Manager (co-written with Ken Blanchard) sold 15 million copies and stayed on the New York Times bestseller list for more than twenty years. Since it was published a decade ago, Who Moved My Cheese? has sold more than 25 million copies. In fact there are more than 46 million copies of Spencer Johnson’s books in print, in forty-seven languages—and with today’s economic uncertainty, his new book could not be more relevant. Pithy, wise, and empowering, Peaks and Valleys is clearly destined to becomeanother Spencer Johnson classic.

Recommended by Benjamin Hardy this is a nice short book. Contextualised in a way that makes it easy to understand the underlining message. To be grateful for the lows and respect the highs

Love the fact that it is short and packed with great wisdom. Also the use of fable and allowing you to extract your own wisdom is such a great way to teach without being taught.

Absolutely awesome book, the principles are basic, but very profound, just a reminder that they’ve always been there. We just need to follow them.

Really loved listening to Peaks and Valleys . so much so that the happiness comes from staying at the peaks without a sign of arrogance and leaving out of the valley is like coming out of a darkness. Coming out of a dark rainy fearful night...to see a dawn of peacefull day. Enjoy your life sharing with others how you managed to stay on peaks while leaving apart the sorrows of valleys. Understanding the truth behind was a nice feeling. Reading the book who moved my cheese was the begining. Thank you Doctor Spencer Johnson.

User friendly application of principles. The parable format helps to get out of the book what you need for yourself. The after interview was useful as well.

We learn different, I have always struggled with self help books that will give you a list of do's and don'ts , 7 ways to...etc. But this book tells a simple story and give you a chance to reflect and relate, the rest is up to you.

Some of the general ideas in this book are great but the format it’s written in I felt didn’t engage me with the character.

Spencer Johnson is know for his short fable type books to provide inspiration and self help. Peaks and Valleys follows in the same mold. The premise is a young man who travels to a high peak and meets an old man who is very wealthy and wise. The old man educates him on how to navigate the highs and lows the peaks and valleys of work and life. There are a lot of good thoughts and messages but nothing earth shattering. I enjoyed it but probably just as much because it was a short read.

This is a short book that uses a parable for explaining how to handle ups and downs in one's life. Although there is some truth to the concept that espoused by the author, I think the format is distracting. Albeit others such as John Bunyan have used this format, I actually did not like Pilgrim's Progress either. The concepts could have been explained simple and more succinctly.

A quick repetition of the fact that it is not our circumstances that define us but our response to those circumstances. A quick read and a quick reminder.

A moral fable that helps us understand how to live more of our life on a peak and less in the valley.

A bit sophomoric and it doesn't provide any new or Earth-shattering insight. However, it succinctly categorizes methods of evaluating situations a person may feel are overwhelming and depressing. Nice quick read.
