    Tony Kytes is a favorite with the girls but he's not terribly clever. If you meet an old girlfriend and she asks for a ride home in your wagon, do you say yes? And then if you meet the girl you are planning to marry, what do you do? Very soon, Tony is in a great muddle, and does not know how to escape from it. These stories are set in an English country village of the nineteenth century, but Hardy's tales of mistakes and muddles and marriages belong in any place, at any time.

    Thomas Hardy

    Thomas Hardy was born in 1840 in Dorchester, Dorset. He enrolled as a student in King’s College, London, but never felt at ease there, seeing himself as socially inferior. This preoccupation with society, particularly the declining rural society, featured heavily in Hardy’s novels, with many of his stories set in the fictional county of Wessex. Since his death in 1928, Hardy has been recognised as a significant poet, influencing The Movement poets in the 1950s and 1960s.

      John Lackland's son came back to his hometown,Longpuddle,in thirty years.In a wagon,villagers told him some stories about what happened while he was in America.In this book,four stories of them are written in detail.All stories are interesting.I like this book because each story is not serious,and heart-warming.I want to have such a hometown and friends who can talk about old days with.

      There are 4 episords about the village of Longpuddle. That village's villaders know each other well. So in the wagon for Longpuddle village, passengers talks about thier village's stories.That episords are almost interesting. And my most favorite story is Tony's. I think he was stupid, and the last of this story is great satisfaction!

      In this book, four stories are told by some villagers from Longpuddle. Those are about someone's mistakes and wit. Their funny muddle all make us give a short smile and feel small happiness. I "enjoyed" this book purely because all sories didn't have any lessons but some irony or joke. Easily I could imagine four villagers telling a stranger their stories with a great fun, and it also made me happy. In other words, maybe I can say that I felt as if I were in the wagon listening to tellers.

      This book is short stories.John Lackland's son came back to the village.And villagers talk to him about events of the village.This story is easy to understand for me.I had a lively image from this story.I like this story, because I feel the characters sounds like fun.

      On the way to the village of Longpuddle,John Lackland's son heard four stories which happened in Longpuddle.In the old days,everybody knew everybody,knew their parents,their children,their grandparents,and probably knew all their secrets too.And the stories like that have been handed down for many years,and will be handed down...There are four stories in this book,and all of themare very interesting.I like the second one especially,because it makes me happy.and I don't like the fourth one,because it's a little scary and unhappy.I wanted to read happy and funny stories,so I gave this book four stars.

      John Lackland'son came home to have a look at old village.When he took the wagon,the carrier told him about his old friends.That's why he wanted to find some friends.The carrier told funny four stories,and I like the first story about Tony.He wasn't not clever,I don't like him and understand why many women liked him.But the story is very funny.

      This book has four stories. One day John Lackland's son comes back to Longpuddle in thirty years. Villagers told him their rumors on the carrier to their village.These stories are a little sorry but very funny. They contain something heart-warming. Although I thought "How funny they are!", their happenings that are told in this book are very convincing. So I can enjoy them. In conclusion I think John Lackland's son's visit will be a rumor in the village.

      This is the tales from one small village called Longpuddle.There is small village, so everybody know everybody, and their families, and their secrets too.This book holds four stories, all of those are told by village people to the man who was born in the Longpuddle village but leave there when he was a child.The most comical story I thought is about Tony Kytes.I have heard that, if you tell a lie, there are more twenty lies need to gloss the former lie.I think, Tony's story is exactly fall under it.

      This book has four short stories happened in Longpuddle. Longpuddle is a villade's name. John Lackland's son asks the passengers to talk the villager's story.I think this book is human's interest story. All the four stories likely to happen acutually. Most interesting story is "Tony kytes Find a Wife". I think he is very lack of decision. But the person like him likely to exist in the world.

      In Longpuddle, everybody knew everybody. John Lackland's son came back to Longpuddle and wanted to listen to the tales from the peoples. There are four stories in this book. I like first one and forth one. Because main characters of these stories are very nice. For example, a clever girl, a foolish man and so on. I felt as "I" listened to the tales.

      These stories were spoken by some people who were passengers of the wagon which took them to Longpuddle.My favorite story is “Tony Kytes Finds a Wife.” Tony Kytes was a great favorite with the women.       This is some people's stories. There are four tales in this book.My favorite story is "Tony Kytes Finds a Wife". Tony Kytes was loved by three girls, he promised three girls to marry so he was in the trouble.I thought it was interesting that he hide girl in his wagon before he meets another girl. I can't understand why he promised three girls to ride the wagon home in same day.Last scene,it's a pity that he was reproached by three girls.
