About this audiobook

The fifth in the new Naxos AudioBooks series ‘In a Nutshell’, The French Revolution is a short and accessible introduction to one of the most important periods in European history. It brings vividly to life the implacable Robespierre, the frightened Marie Antoinette and the iconic image of the guillotine. But it also demonstrates the key role the Revolution played in the development of European politics.

Captivating review. Good narration. I only wish there was more detail, but i understand meant to be short.

As a broad overview this covered the topic at the surface level well. However, for more in depth coverage of the impact of the French Revolution on the people, I recommend reading/listening "The Black Count" which is the story of Alexander Dumas Sr. within the backdrop of the French Revolution.

This is good for what it is, a one hour summary of a ten-year series of revolutions. However, in that amount of time one can only touch on the basics, and the author can't do much but provide a quick summary of each major event in the period.

This isn't necessarily a pro or con, but this book assumes at least some prior knowledge of the Revolution. If like me you learned approximately nothing about the French Revolution in school, it may be a good idea to look up an article or video online to get the very basics down.

With breathtaking pace the author chases through the gripping story of the French Revolution, it‘s ideals as well as it‘s horrors.

Well narrated, incredibly concise, and told as a story with brief analysis - not just a list of facts. Brilliant.

I have always been a history buff and I love the Napoleonic era. This pre-Napoleon era is quite unique and is described quite well taking into consideration the name “in a nutshell”.

Es corto y conciso. Lleno de datos interesantes. para tener una aproximación global a la revolución francesa merece la pena. Lo único que a veces se corta abruptamente.

Maybe a bit too condensed. Although, if you pay attention to the names and dates it will. Provide a framework to build upon.

Too fast reading. The narrator could keep the pace a bit slower as the history itself is very complex
