About this audiobook

When Link joined his best friend, Ethan Wate, on a quest through a mysterious network of underground passageways endlessly crisscrossing the South, he knew the journey would be dangerous. But returning home to Gatlin, South Carolina was just the beginning...

Wounded during a climactic battle, Link discovers that tending his injuries won't be as simple as visiting a doctor and that healing his arm should be the least of his worries. For being bitten by a Supernatural does more than break the skin – it changes a person, inside and out, turning Link into someone more and more like the dark creature who injured him.

In this never-before-seen short story by New York Times bestselling authors Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl, listeners witness Link's heart-racing transformation. Dream Dark is set before the much-anticipated third Beautiful Creatures novel, Beautiful Chaos, and as a special bonus includes an exclusive sneak peek at the first five chapters.

I tried to imagine how Link would deal with his transformation from human to incubus and was glad to find out that I wouldn't have to imagine anymore. Unfortunately I didn't learn as much as I hoped in Dream Dark, it still seemed like Ethan and the Caster's story, not Link's as much. Although, I guess Link is now a part of the world Ethan finds himself in. Maybe this more was more of an introduction to his new world. It will be interesting to see how things progress or change for Link, especially how he continues to hide his new existence from his overbearing, meddlesome mother.

Lovable quirky Link will now be lovable quirky Linkubus. Yeah!

    A Linkubus-Linkcentric-Linktastic Tale. Quite enjoyable!

This is actually just a short story between #2 and 3. It didn't last but a little over an hour on audio. But I felt it was an important part of the entire story (series)

a quaint little small tale about what happened when Link got bit by the hybrid John in book 2 of the Castor Chronicles. Link thought the worst of his problems were when he despised his mother cooking but more things are going on then he knows about. And then there is the drama Riley is facing as a mortal girl, ex-siren how will she handle it?

I enjoyed this novella. Ethan's best friend Link has been one of my favorite characters in this series, so to see how he's handling this dark life, with the help of Macon Ravenwood, was fun. But even more fun were the sneak peek of the first five chapters of Beautiful Chaos. Let the new school year begin!

This was a great story. I liked it more than I like the Beautiful Creatures books. I love that it tells Link's story, and how he changes into an incubus. It did feel that Link's transformation to an incubus was an easy transition for him. He didn't seem to have any real problems. The story moved along briskly, and when it ended, it felt very abrupt. I wanted to keep reading about Link. I know this is a short story, but I still wish it was longer.

    Oh Linky-Link.
    He just needs a hug.

Very short, but a cute look into what Link thinks of, and how he goes about his transformation and dealing with things of that nature. I keep hoping for Ridley to end up being good and liking Link for real! And I'm very confused/concerned as to what the mission Link was sent on by Macon was about! Hoping to get more on that in book 3!

This short had a lot of potential, and I enjoyed knowing what was going on later in the story. It was from the point of view of Link (or the Linkubus) who is one of my favorite characters (along side Amma, and the sisters) so I was reflectively excited about this one. I thought that it was a bit over dramatic in the beginning, but for a between-the-books-filler and a short story I thought it was fairly decent.

Wish I had read this before the last book - now I understand it a bit better. It was interesting to get a story from Link's view - something that wasn't fleshed out in the series, but I didn't feel like I got to know him as well as I wanted.

    Dark Dream --

Short, but well put together. The story of Link but still told by Lena and Ethan, as explained by the POV from the very beginning. Which is a very odd and interesting way to do it, having the story of Link told by someone who isn't there. Once again making the narration and doubled story telling questionable, but beautiful.

The way it lets us get hints Mason and Ridely that the narrator looking back can point the listener/reader to but that people in that scene and moment might have missed entirely.

    Book Three Preview --

I didn't read this one because I will be reading the book so soon.

I really enjoyed this short story. It's a little snippet of Link after he turned Linkubus and how he's coping with that transition.

However, I was more than a little disappointed at the length. I got to about 40% of the way through, less than halfway through the file, and it was finished. The rest were a sneak peek of chapters of Beautiful Chaos. Colour me disappointed.
