It is now a perfect world for me. I can work on sewing projects and enjoy Robb at the same time.

Someone raped and murdered the teenage daughter of a cop, it was torture and it was personal. Well, that makes it personal for Lieutenant Eve Dallas too.

Eve is called in to investigate when the daughter of a police captain is found raped and strangled in her own bed. All the evidence points to a chameleon style killer who can adopt identities at will and become anyone he desires. Can Eve and her team stop him before he kills again?

Entertaining overall with a gripping plot, albeit one that is reminiscent of an earlier installment in the series Survivor in Death. The death of the first victim is heart breaking and the callousness of the killer is spine-chilling.

While it is enjoyable to see past characters putting in an appearance, the recurring characters appear to be stagnating. Perhaps it is because this is the 29th book, but it is almost as if Robb has a checklist of moments for each character: Eve has a nightmare (check), Roarke worms his way into the investigation (check), Summerset says something endearingly snarky (check), Peabody and McNab moon over each other (check), and so on. Robb really needs to shake things up a little in this area so that the character development matches the plots in intensity.

Despite this issue, the In Death books are fast paced reads with appealing characters and well-written storylines. Looking forward to the next one.

Standard story. Louise gets married, so that's nice.

The teen-age daughter of a Captain in the Illegals Division is found murdered in her bed. The Captain asks for Eve Dallas to find the killer. This was a good one. Eve has a psychological profile of the murderer but no pictures. He has managed to bypass a Roarke system, which Roarke is not pleased about. Together along with Eve's team at Cop Central they find the glitch in his plans. I like that Eve talks it out and that Roarke and others on the team can fill in where she has not gone in her thoughts which put her on the path to finding the murderer. She knows the why. She just has to find the who. I lost sleep staying up to read this book I was so intrigued by the path Eve took to find her murderer.I look forward to the next one.

Planning to surprise their sixteen-year-old daughter, Deena, with a holiday brunch and an afternoon matinee, newly-promoted New York Police and Security Department Captain Jonah MacMasters and his wife, Carol, return home early following a weekend away. However, instead of their planned family outing, they are horrified to find Deena dead, brutally murdered in her bedroom. When Captain MacMasters requests that homicide detective Lieutenant Eve Dallas investigate his daughter’s murder, Commander Jack Whitney summons her to the crime scene. The brutal rape of the young girl ignites Eve’s memories of her own abused childhood; nevertheless, they’re soon buried again as she goes about the business of investigating the crime. But can she find the monster who murdered a cop’s daughter without losing herself in the process?Twenty-ninth in the “In Death” series, this emotion-filled narrative forthrightly examines the heart-wrenching effects of murder on the members of the victim’s family. The ever-deepening relationship between Eve and Roarke is sure to please readers, as is the wedding that serves as the bright spot in the telling of this disquieting tale.Anchored by the strong sense of place in the world of the near future, the camaraderie and the relationships between the characters continue to be the heart of the story; however, the well-defined police procedural as Eve investigates is outstanding; the expected humor, banter, and romance are all here as well. The intriguing plot fills the pages with suspense and an underlying tension gives the narrative a persistent intensity. Readers, captured at the outset by the horrific crime they know will resonate even more than usual with Eve, will find it difficult to set this book aside before turning the final page.Highly recommended.

This read was a more random choice trying to fulfill my reading challenge prompt of “a book by a female author using a male pseudonym”. I didn’t realize when I started that this was one of a continuing series of crime thriller (number 29 in fact!), but it was written in a way that made reading it independently of the others wasn’t a problem. Eve Dallas’ plans for a quiet night in are dashed when she receives an urgent call from her superior to be the lead investigator when the newly promoted police chiefs teenage daughter is found dead. When Eve arrives to the scene she finds the young girl has been brutally raped and strangled to death. Delving into such a case brings up memories of her own past trauma, but Eve digs in her heels and gets to work. When another woman turns up dead, killed in the same fashion, Eve knows she is running out of time before the killer strikes again. Connecting the dots and digging into clues is Eves specialty but can she connect the dots fast enough, or will the tech savvy murderer slip through her grasp to finish his murderous revenge?I didn’t realize when I started this one that it was set in the future, 2060 to be exact. Although it wasn’t too scientifically advanced from current day to be distracting, it did make for an interesting take on a murder mystery. This book was pretty graphic and grizzly when discussing the details of the rapes/murders which honestly seemed overdone at times. The constant discussing of the case details with all the various characters seemed a bit too much and would have been much better without in my opinion.Overall it was entertaining and engaging. It kept my interest with the swiftness of the action and plot development (the whole book spans only a few days). The characters were likable enough if a little cliched. I did appreciate Eves tough as nails attitude and fearlessness. Like a dog with a bone, Eve Dallas does not give up on a case, she digs in, tooth and nail, devoting all her time and energy to bring justice to victims. Kindred in Death is number 29 in this series (wow right?!) If murder mysteries are your thing, this series has got you covered for quite a bit of reading!

People are being targeted for a crime done years ago. But its not their deaths the killer wants, its those closest to them...their children, their lovers, their parents. And it won't stop until everyone pays. That is until Eve Dallas steps onto the scene and begins her study of a criminal no one would even think to look at.

Great addition to the series. It says a lot for Robert's talent that I still look forward to a new book in the series after 29 books. The crime in this story was particularly gruesome and disturbing. But the whole gang is here to bring the perp to justice. And Eve has to deal with the responsibilities of being Matron of Honor at Louise's wedding to Charles. As always, there are quite a few laughs along the way. I do wish Eve would find out a bit more about her parents and what became of them.

This was an excellent installment in the In Death series. I read it quickly and ven after reading the end of the book (a fault of mind) I still wanted to read the whole book and couldn't put it down. I really like how Roberts used dialog to tell so much of the story, rather than description.

A cop's 16 year old daughter is dead. A bride-to-be realtor goes out to show a loft and never returns. A 90 year old woman is in danger. What do these people have in common? Eve Dallas and her team need to find the answer. Another great book in this series.

This one wasn't as fun as some of the others. The death described was difficult for me. I have more trouble with the cases that involve rape. All the secondary character happenings made it worth reading as a fan of the series.

I knew this was a horribly written book, even as I read it.

I've never read Nora Roberts: the romance version of this must be obscene. The Roarke scenes had me dying.

    Sci-fi mystery. A strange endeavor.

If I could give this book ten stars I would. It was wrenching and satisfying. It tops out as my absolute favorite of the series so far. I don't think I've ever hated the bad guy as much or cheered harder at the catch.

This book started out slow for me. I can't say for sure if it was the book or just a personal issue with me, but it did pick up after the first quarter or so.

I think one of the problems I'm having with the series lately is that Eve is mellowing out. She's still kick-ass, but she's losing her hard edge. That's ok, because I definitely want to see her grow and change. But it kind of takes something away from the stories, too.

The case was interesting and I enjoyed watching Eve puzzle through it. One of the best things about these novels is watching her walk through the murders in her mind.

Overall this was better than one or two of her more recent entries, but it wasn't as good as many of the early ones.

This was horrible. Really, year 2060 and here are no street cameras or any teenagers taking pictures or video of a New Year's Eve party? Couldn't get past that.

I Love Eve and Roarke. Eve Dallas is investigate the horrific death of Deena the daughter of Capt. MacMasters. The guy that killing is a revenge for what happen to his family when he was young. Plus Eve's friend Louise and Charles's Wedding.

I loved it! It seems like she is getting back on track. Some of her latter books have seemed too much like retreads to me. This was an engrossing book that was a real "I can't put this down" kind of read. My only minor complaint, since Nora Roberts is a romance writer by trade, why couldn't Louise and Charles's wedding have more detail. It seems like it was thrown in as an afterthought. She did this to Eve and Roarke's wedding too.

When the daughter of a cop is found dead on the Peace Day holiday it interrupts Eve and Rourke's plans for the evening. Eve is almost glad of it because it means she can avoid those awkward conversatoins about weddings that her friend is having. The girl is tortured and cruely treated before being killed and when another body turns up Eve is faced with a problem linking the murders together. It's a pretty typical story in this series, I enjoyed the story and the visit with two people I'm getting very fond of. It reads almost like a weekly TV serial, enjoyable and entertaing stuff.

Eve investigates the rape and murder of the police chief's teenage daughter. With the help of her team's e-knowledge and her own understanding of human nature (which hasn't changed in the future), Eve painstakingly investigates every clue and pieces together the evidence until she captures the killer. Gritty police procedural set in the near future with some humor.

This series isn't one that requires a lot of thought on the part of the reader. The books follow the same pattern. The characters are developed through the 35 books in the series so reading them from the start is a good idea but they aren't hard (looking back over my reading log I realised that some months I have read five or six of these books plus novels for school). To me this fact make them a perfect read for a decidedly gray Saturday (we had the lights on ALL DAY).This book continues the pattern of previous books in the series yet manages to still entertain. Although the all follow the same basic plot to me they stay fresh. What I enjoy the most is the humour and the interactions between the recurring characters in the books. They feel real. They are people that I can relate to. I really enjoyed seeing Jamie return, I've missed him, and I think that perhaps Roberts has introduced another character of whom we will see more off, Peach. If she does reapear I will be happy. The past few books in the series have left me feeling a bit meh but not this one. I was gripped. The interactions between the main and supporting characters that felt a bit samey in the past few books did not feel so this time. The drama that felt a bit concocted wasn't there. It all felt more natural. If you enjoy murder mysteries where you yourself don't have to figure out who the killer is this series is definitely for you. Since I am not much of a puzzle solver and ridiculously fond of network crime show this is a perfect series for me.

Peace Day for Eve is anything but when the body of a sixteen year-old girl is discovered by her devastated parents on their return from a romantic get-away. And since one of the parents in question is a solid policeman who only recently received his Captain's bars, of course Eve is on the case. With a few wedding nerves and some post-traumatic nausea to hold at bay, Eve charges into the investigation determined to get things wrapped up in time for her stroll down the aisle as Louise's maid-of-honor (in something... yellow?). With the ending a foregone conclusion - of course she's going to get the bad guy - it's all in the ride. While this trip isn't as strong as Eve's previous installment, it was still a worthwhile few hours of entertainment.

Woh! Eve Dallas is a homicide detective, so there's going to be a murder in every book for her to investigate. Usually, the In Death series straddles the line between romance and outright suspense fiction fairly evenly. This installment, however, almost falls completely into the suspense side. The victim is only 16, and her murder particularly gruesome and gut-wrenching. Though the love between Roarke and Eve is still strong, and there's more than one tryst between them here, fans of the romance genre may find this book a little lacking on that front compared to the previous novels. I thoroughly enjoyed it, but I love suspense books. The daughter of a cop is brutally murdered as a revenge message to him. But, what could a cop who investigates illegal drugs have done to warrant such fury? Eve is specifically requested on the case. Roarke's involvement in Eve's cases as an "expert consultant" happily continues and we get more interaction between them as a result. All the favorites are here, in particular the other cops. Mavis and a couple others make small cameos (which suits their characters fine) and the cop action gets ratcheted up. It seemed to me that there was more investigative technique, and conferences than ever before - which I thought added a lot of depth to the plot. Overall, and excellent read with good plot twists and the usual satisfying ending I've come to expect. Highly recommended!

Eve's latest case has her trying to find the killer of a cop's daughter. The rape and murder naturally brings back Eve's own past. Eve also has to do her part for Louise and Charles' wedding. This was a good mystery and a fast read. I like watching the relationship between Eve and Roarke grow and deepen with each book.
