About this audiobook
As a boy, Will Klein had a hero: his older brother, Ken. Then, on a warm suburban night in the Kleins' affluent New Jersey neighborhood, a young woman--a girl Will had once loved--was found raped and murdered in her family's basement.
The prime suspect: Ken Klein. With the evidence against him overwhelming, Ken simply vanished, spending the next decade as the elusive subject of rumors, speculation, and an international manhunt. When his shattered family never heard from Ken again, they were sure he was gone for good.
Now eleven years have passed. And Will, who always believed in his brother's innocence, has found evidence that Ken is alive--even as he is struck by another act of betrayal. His girlfriend suddenly disappears, leaving behind compelling evidence that she was not the person Will thought she was. As two dark dramas unwind around him, Will is pulled into a violent mystery, haunted by signs that Ken is trying to contact him after all these years. Will can feel himself coming closer and closer to his brother . . . and to a terrible secret that someone will kill to keep buried. And as the lies begin to unravel, Will is uncovering startling truths about his lover, his brother, and even himself. He knows he must press his search all the way to the end. Because the most powerful revelations are yet to come....
Gone for Good is at once a powerhouse of suspense and a haunting tale of love--the love between brothers, between lovers, between family members. It is one of those rare thrillers that not only make the pulse pound, but stir the heart as well.

- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Another very enjoyable read from this master of the mystery genre, and plenty of twists - just when you think you've got all the twists, then comes another and another! 4 stars.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5What a train ride! Just when you think you have it figured out, you are left second-guessing yourself. This is my favorite Harlan Coben book yet.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5What a train ride! Just when you think you have it figured out, you are left second-guessing yourself. This is my favorite Harlan Coben book yet.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5My first of many Coben books, and one of my favorites. A thoroughly twisted plot, backed up by some sympathetic, and some thoroughly weird, characters. I was so into it I couldn't put it down. You keep turning the pages to find out what happens next.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5A quick, good read! Lots of twists and turns. It's all about plot as the characters are a mite shallow. Good suspense, though. I think that I'll try another Coben.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5I enjoyed it and the only thing that keeps it from a five star is the credibility factor that surfaces too often. Start by understanding you must accept some events that are just too illogical and unbelievable to easily accept, and you will have a great time with this book! In the style of the Godfather, where a great read is not too distracted by unlikely happenings and convenient events falling into place, this book is both exciting and satisfying even if you catch yourself at times thinking...Really?
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Will's brother, Ken, was suspected in the murder of their neighbour/Will's ex-girlfriend 11 years ago. Ken has been missing since then and the family has assumed he was dead for that entire time. But, just before Will's mom dies, she tells Will that Ken is still alive. Within a few days, Will's girlfriend, Sheila, disappears, leaving only a note (that she loves him) behind. This has one of the best first sentences I ever remember reading. It hooked me right away and I stayed hooked throughout the entire book. There were so many twists and turns right up to the very end. I really liked some of the characters, too: I liked Will and the relationship he had with Sheila; my favourite character was probably Will's best friend and coworker, Squares. This is one I just didn't want to put down.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Brilliantly plotted thriller with multiple twists which, satisfyingly, I mostly didn't see coming but in retrospect they seemed inevitable. Not the best writing or characters, but what do you expect?
- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5This was pretty much a waste of time, to be honest. I thought it sounded okay from the description and the first few pages were okay but it sort of just got pretty mediocre from there on.
The characters were dull. Will felt so incredibly generic- there was absolutely nothing making him a distinct or memorable character. It felt like I'd read about him ten times before- he was just very flat.
The story itself was all right but not enough to warrant four hundred pages. All the twists were really predictable and felt like the writer kept changing his mind about where he wanted the story to go.
Overall, not an interesting read and not one I would recommend. - Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5When Will Klein's mother dies he discovers that his older brother, suspected of murdering Will's ex-girlfriend and long presumed dead, is alive. Then Will's fiancee disappears and Will is forced to face the truth of his past. With its twists and turns in the plot this is trademark Coben as he sets up and then destroys the reader's assumptions and is never predictable
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Gone For Good by Harlan Coben is the story of Will Klein. He lost his older brother Ken at a young age, when Ken fled the family home after being accused of murdering Will's ex girlfriend Julie and was never heard from again. Eleven years on and Will's mother is losing a battle with a terminal illness and gives Will the news that his brother is still alive. His mother's death and her shocking revelation sets a number of events into motion. Will's girlfriend disappears and he begins to find out more about his brother Ken and the past he never new about. The best character in Gone For Good is undoubtedly Will's friend, Squares. Squares got his nickname after having his swastika - that was tattooed on his forehead in his misspent youth - tattooed into squares rather than removed, to remind him of his troubled past. Squares and Will both work at Covenant House, reaching out to homeless youths and trying to offer them a better future. Will believes his brother Ken is innocent, however he is torn between a love for his brother and doing the right thing. There is danger and tension throughout this thriller and a twist that caught me a little by surprise.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Enjoyed this book. It keeps you guessing and liked the plot twists. This is my second book by Coben and I will certainly seek out more of them. Good read!
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5my first novel by Coben, and will seek out more! Very twisty mystery - my favorite kind.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Edge of your seat thriller. One of Coben's best.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5I have always like this author's books but I have to say that this one didn't come up to snuff as much as his others have. It's a good thriller with twists and turns but something was lacking I feel.Back Cover Blurb:As a boy, Will Klein had a hero: his older brother, Ken. As a violent mystery unwinds around him, Will knows he must press his search all the way to the end. Because the most powerful surprises are yet to come.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5This is the third of Harlan Coben's books that I've read. They've all been consistantly fast reads with entertaining plots. Although, there is often the plot twist you can see coming, there is just as often the unexpected twist. Well worth a look.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5This is the story of Will Klein, who lost both his first love and his brother on the same day eleven years ago. His ex-girlfriend, Julie Miller was found brutally strangled, and his brother became the subject of an international manhunt accused of the crime. When his new girlfriend, Sheila, disappears too, Will starts to delve into the past, not always liking what he finds...This was not the sort of formulaic mystery story that I am used to. Usually, a body appears within the first chapter or so, there are various suspects and eventually the mystery is solved. In this book, it starts quite slowly, and reveals bit by bit the events of eleven years ago. Also, bodies don't really "appear" as such, as they are referred to instead. However, once I got used to Coben's style and the style of the book, it was actually very gripping, and there were so many twists and turns that I was left feeling very dizzy! Each time you thought you were close to the solution, things were turned upside down again so it certainly kept me kon my toes.Towards the end it became very exciting and I had to keep reading to the bitter end...
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This was my first Harlan Coben book. It was amazing - I read it over a weekend and could not put it down. The characters are fantastic (I really like Squares) and every time you think you have it figured out things change. The ending was great. I will definitely read more by this author.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5As with all Coben novels - I loved this one and all its twists and turns and I loved the epilogue on this. I truly hope to see Squares again, maybe in a Myron/Win novel. My only real dislike with this book, which I listened to in the audio format, was that it was read by Jonathan Marowz (who's read most of the Myron Bolitar books). It was difficult to seperate this book from one of the Bolitar series (which wasn't all bad), but Will Klein had the same sort of quick wit, one-liners, and vocabulary as Myron.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This is a can't-put-it-down thriller. This books has more twists and turns than any book I've read recently. Just when I thought I knew what was going on and had it figured out, the book turns around and goes in another direction. Not to mention that each character proves to be an enigma. Will is a kind-hearted soul and his family's past keeps rearing it's ugly head. He's in love with a woman who is not who he thinks she is, his brother is not who he thinks he is, and his past girlfriend is someone who surprises him continually until the end of the book. Even the true bad guys are a surprise. This is my favorite Harlan Coben book, hands-down.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5This was really good. It started a little bit slow, but then once I got into it, I did not want to put it down. It is your basic murder mystery book, but there are so many twists and turns it kept me guessing right up to the end.
- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5Great beach book. Lots of twists and turns, keeps you guessing right until the end. The hero, Will Klien, is a unlikely and unwilling hero; and he has a great sidekick in Squares, who has loads of 'street cred' and also happens to be a world famous Yoga instructor.
- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5One of my favorite books by this author. The other is Tell No One. Both are very un-put-downable & kept me up til all hours to finish.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5WOW! An outstanding, can't put it down, page-turner if I have ever read one. You think you have it figured it then BAM, you don't! A must read for anyone who enjoys a good suspense book!! Highly recommended!!
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Make sure your safety harness is fastened tight, dear reader because you are in for a wild ride! Full of double crosses and double double crosses this one will have you on the edge of your seat until the last page.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Pretty good. I like this author a lot. He does a good job of setting up a story.
- Rating: 1 out of 5 stars1/5An appalling piece of trash. Gone for Good is an overwrought, cliche-ridden mess featuring implausible characters (especially the ex-Nazi KKK yoga instructor who also happens to be best buddies with every important person in the galaxy, and who saves homeless kids, too; I wish I were exaggerating, but if anything I'm understating the ridiculousness of this character; oh, and then there's 'the Ghost' [excellent creativity with the moniker, Harlan], a 'pale assassin' who's so utterly preposterous you won't be able to suppress your giggles, and, hey, I'd better get the hell out of this set of parentheses), a silly, 'here's something I made up I'll bet you never thought would happen' plot, and endless, excruciating passages about feelings. Just about every character in the book, especially the protagonist, spends loooong stretches crying, sniveling, moaning, holding someone desperately just to survive, and then bawling some more. I can't even begin to grasp the reasons for Coben's popularity.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5What a discovery, Harlan Coben is definitely a writer I want to read more of. He plays with the assumptions 'trained thriller readers' have. Most writers play by the rules and you know there is going to be an unexpected ending, but Coben gives even this rule a twist. He really is a brilliant author.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Every chapter the plot tosses and turns. You can never guess how the story will turn and until the very end good and evil are hard to be differentiated.
- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5What an utter waste of my time. Such a disappointment. Normally I thoroughly enjoy Cobans books, but this one had me rolling my eyes so much that I think I pulled a muscle! I found this book to be unbelievable, unrealistic and a bit insulting. Too many plot twists give this story the feeling of being rushed and lacking. Not worth the time or money.
