      This entry in the Stephanie Plum series features the capable female bounty hunter looking for several people, one of them a mad scientist type named Martin Munch, who's willing to trade the diabolical Wulf Grimoire the secret to world domination in exchange for women and money, starting with Stephanie. Her account humoir-filled of the chase gets her and sidekick Dutch into many serious debacles as it leads them deep into the Pine Barrens where the Jersey Devil allegedly dwells. Great reading, lots of fun.

      I really liked this book. I've enjoyed the Stephanie Plum series since it started and this book was no different. I enjoy the relationship between Stephanie, Ranger, Diesel and Morelli. Janet Evanovich has a sense of humor that can't be beat. It's an enjoyable book that I probably could have devoured within mere hours. This particular book has Diesel and Stephanie teaming up to track down a really bad guy named Wulf and a bumbling scientist gone bad named Munch. There is a monkey named Carl who is a highlight of the book. He's definitely comic relief. Lula and Tank's relationship finally reaches it conclusion in a way that I never guessed would happen. I don't know that it was all that believable but the between the number books aren't meant to be that way I guess. All in all I really enjoyed this book. It was a great story and a lot of fun.

      Somehow I missed this "Stephanie Plum Between the Numbers" book while reading the series. It was great to read (well, listen to since I had the audiobook version) what I consider vintage Evanovich. Some of the antics were humorous (Lula accidentally shooting a fuel canister and blowing up the entire depot; Carl's "eep" when Elmer accidentally ignites fuel stored in a mine). Carl the monkey is in most of the book, so is Diesel. Lula features in several scenes. Most of the other regulars are marginalized (Joe Morelli, Ranger, Grandma Mazur).One of Stephanie's FTAs and the man Diesel is hunting are working together in a business deal, so Diesel pulls Stephanie into his task--though later he does help her catch her FTA. Their work takes them to "The Barrens" where they encounter several eccentrics. The raccoons getting into Stephanie's jeep for a bucket of chicken sounds similar to another car that Stephanie "lost" (in a different book?). But part of the charm of the series for me is seeing how Stephanie "loses" another car. So it was disappointing that it was similar to one I'd read before.The story kept me interested, but I wouldn't reread it (which is why it didn't receive a 5).

      Another fun book in the Stephanie Plum world. Diesel is back, and in this story we get introduced to Carl the monkey. Readers of the Lizzy and Diesel series know that Carl the monkey also appears in those books.

      Like the other books that feature Diesel, this book has a mild supernatural element to it. If you don't like this, then you should just stick with the Stephanie Plum numbers series. I think it adds another level of absurdity to the story, and I enjoy it. I read these books because they are fun and silly, and I don't have to think too hard while reading them. They are escapist literature.

      This is not my favorite book in the series. I found the character Munch to be extremely annoying, and his reasons for wanting to kidnap Stephanie a little out of character for the series. Still, I enjoyed reading it, and hope the series continues for a long time.

      Plum Spooky was alright. Diesel's back, tracking down his cousin, Wulf, and Stephanie needs to find Martin Munch or her cousin Vinnie will go into the red. Apparently his boss is not one to cross. Diesel and Stephanie work together to find them since Martin and Wulf are in cahoots. It had the usual antics and made me chuckle a few times. It's a cute addition to the series. 3.5 stars

      This is one of the "between-the-numbers" novels in Evanovich's series about incompetent bounty hunter Stephanie Plum -- part of the series, but distinct from the usual installments. This one is longer than most of them, and less obviously holiday-themed, although it is apparently set somewhere around Halloween. But it does feature the usual supernatural elements, including a mysterious character called Diesel, and it turns the wackiness typical of the series up to eleven. In fact, I'd say this one really dials up the wackiness, with a plot featuring mad science and monkeys. Lots of monkeys. The (frequently monkey-based) humor here is dumb and often feels kind of forced, but when you're able to turn your brain off and just go with it, which I managed a reasonable amount of the time, it is kind of amusing. Which is generally about all I ask from these books.I am growing more and more uncomfortable, though, with the way that people sexually harassing and/or sexually threatening Stephanie is played for laughs and, when it comes from the men she's working with, treated as no big deal and only to be expected, or even presented as if it's supposed to be sexy. I'm never happy about that, but right now it makes me feel particularly squirmy.

      Stephanie Plum is a bounty hunter who goes after those who don't show for their court date. It isn't an easy job, but to find yourself babysitting a monkey named Carl, life does become complicated. Add to that a big guy named Diesel who takes up residence in her apartment, and....Martin Munch is on the top of the list of her Most Wanted. A small in stature, big in brains guy who is out to control the world. Partnered with Wulf Grimoire, a world wanderer, non-emotional character and you have a dangerous duo. Turns out that Wulf is Diesel's brother and Diesel is tracking Wulf to keep him from causing drastic damage.The action mostly takes place in an area called the Barrens. A strange, rural area with some mighty strange residents: people who have either chosen to disappear or need to disappear. The Jersey Devil, Sasquatch, the Easter Bunny and the guy who can do flaming farts are just a few. ATVs seem to be the best mode of transport for the terrain.Stephanie is up to her eyebrows in action and craziness in trying to 'get her man.' Between keeping the gorgeous, sexy Diesel at arm's distance, avoiding face to face time with either Munch of Wulf, and keeping an eye on Carl there is no lack of action and comedy.This is a zany book, as I think most of Plum's adventures are. A fairly quick read with enough twists to keep me interested and not solve the mystery by the middle of the book. I do look forward to reading more of Plum's adventures.

      Very enjoyable, even though this is a "between the numbers" book. Loved the monkey, I want to adopt one now. I thought the humor was pretty funny in this one, although crude at times. Evanovich's books are always fast, easy and light reads.

      This audiobook was mostly a waste of time. I enjoyed Grandma Mazur and Lula as usual, but the pack of monkeys were a little much. I did enjoy Carl for a bit, but by the third round of Super Mario Brothers, I was over him, too. I didn't see the purpose of throwing in Diesel, another possible love interest for Stephanie. As if she needed another inept complication in her life. And the supervillain Wolf" was a little much for me, too."

      I only read this because I'm playing a "Word Scavenger Hunt" and it really filled the requirements!

      Diesel..... Another man? So what I could not figure out was: "What was SPOOKY about this book?"

      So one of Stephanie's skips is some techno-genius, who has teamed up w/ Wulf (Diesel's nemesis & cousin). They have stolen some thing-a-ma-jig that changes weather..... They also have some mind control device...

      This is just more of the numbers series only with the addition of "unmentionables", people with special powers....

      More of the same, not as interesting, definitely NOT "Spooky".....

      This was not one of my favorites, as not as good as the others in the Plum series.

      Bounty hunter Stephanie Plum has Munch on her most-wanted list for failure to appear in court. Plum is the all-American girl stuck in an uncomfortable job, succeeding on luck and tenacity. Usually she gets her man. This time she gets a monkey. She also gets a big guy named Diesel.

      As all Janet Evanovich books, this was a great one. Though I'm not sure I haven't read one of her books that hasn't been great. Sooo...that must be the reason she's a New York Times best selling author huh? Get pointers for your books that you write from her~! Also, read her non-fiction book, that's the one I'm looking for now!

      Janet Evanovich sure can tell a story! As usual, I found her novel to be absolutely delightful. I thoroughly enjoy her characters and their sense of humor, as well as the plot and Ms. Evanovich's writing style. This novel is several hours of fun and entertainment.

      Janet Evanovich is always good for a laugh and this one doesn't disappoint. Like the 'numbers" books best but this still most enjoyable. There aren't many books that make me laugh out loud but you can't help the odd chuckle when you read the latest Stephanie Plum antics :)

      This was extremely boring to me at times. The only things that really kept me reading this were Carl the monkey and the fact that Diesel is really growing on me. I don't think I would recommend this to fans of the other books of the series.

      I love these books. They're so silly and fun. In this one Stephanie and Diesel are looking for someone named Wulf. How ridiculous! I'm just disappointed there wasn't more Grandma Mazur...or Ranger...or even Morelli!

      I listened to this one on audio. Plum Spooky is the 4th in the In-Between-the-Numbers Series. I have to say out of the two I’ve listened to this one was the better one. It could have passed as a regular Stephanie Plum novel, but it lacked the sex scenes.

      All the regular characters make an appearance, even Morelli and Ranger. Plus Diesel (yummy) returns to complicate things even further. I thought the plot was more developed and it was actually funnier than some of the other Plum novels I’ve read.

      While not part of the official by-the-numbers series, this is quite by the numbers reading. Stephanie is hunting Martin Munch and Diesel re-appears. To be honest I dislike Diesel's attitude to Stephanie and while some people might find the scenes where they wake up in the same bed cute, I find them kinda creepy. No means NO dammit.Stephanie ends up being pulled into mystery that involves Diesel's cousin Wulf and a lot of monkeys.It's readable but quite predictable. I'm going to need a break before I read the next Evanovich, I think I'm a bit burnt out on the kooky antics.

      The Stephanie Plum books are all enjoyable reads on a light and instantly forgettable level. This 'between-the-numbers' title is even less believable than most,in that they introduce a supernatural touch. They are none the worst for that. Do not expect any subtlety within these pages as schoolboy (and/or girl) humour abounds.

      I believe that Spooky was the last of the Between-the-Plums novellas, and I think that's a good thing. I'm pretty sure I'll much prefer reading about Diesel in his own series. I'm not crazy about mixing the normal Stephanie Universe with supernatural powers and such. Overall though, I did enjoy the story. Janet Evanovich has quite the imagination, lol. The monkeys were cute. Just a fun, quick mystery.

      I love the Plum series - laugh out loud, pure fun and I was glad to finally get my hands on this. Another rolicking adventure even though a little out there in terms of plot - perfect escapism though and sice I was ill it was just what i needed to cheer me up.
