About this audiobook

In the college town of Morganville, vampires and humans have learned to live in relative peace. Still, students like Claire Danvers know that after dark, studying can take a backseat to staying alive. But the tenuous good-neighbor policy is really turned on its head with the arrival of Mr. Bishop.

Bad to the bone, the ancient old-school vampire cares nothing about harmony. Staying at the top of the food chain isn't enough. What he wants from the town's living and dead is unthinkably sinister. It's only at a formal ball attended by vampires and their human dates that Claire realizes Bishop's plan-and the elaborately evil trap he's set for the warm-blooded souls of Morganville.

Finished this book feeling very meh about it all and not really caring who lived or died through it. Claire Danvers should have expected that at 16 her parents would insist on her moving to live with them once they had moved to live in her messed up town, but she wants to stay living with her friends. All of this is not helped by the arrival of Mr Bishop, who has his own plans, plans that really will change things and that involve a lot of the people living in the Glass House.Complicated and involved and I probably would have preferred this if I had read it closer to the previous book.

In the land of scary vampires the scariest of them all has come to town for unknown reasons to unite with a most unexpected relative and threatening all those that Claire loves. With the fourth book of any series it is very hard to talk about it without completely spoiling it. So, if you don't want to know what happens I'd suggest avoiding the back blurb :-)I very much enjoyed this installment into the Morganville Vampires series. Rachel Caine has managed to keep her story fresh, exciting and constantly evolving. Once again there is the matter of the cliffhanger endings the books in this series leave off on, but at least it wasn't in the very middle of an action or dramatic scene which was slightly more tolerable. Michael is still my favorite character by far and has a simply awesome scene near the middle of the book which would have made the whole reading worthwhile for me even if I hadn't liked the rest of the story as much as I did.I'd certainly suggest this book for those teens (and adults if they don't mind teen stories) looking for a vampire series while waiting on Meyers' next story. That is, if you don't mind cliffhangers!

Enjoyable book, and I like the way the storyline is progressing. My biggest complaint (with the entire series) is that each book seems more like a serial than a stand-alone novel.

The Summary: Morganville has new residents. Scary for Claire -- it's her parents. Scary for everyone -- it's someone who makes Amelia tremble. Bishop doesn't follow anyone's rules -- especially his daughter's.The Take Away: How does Caine wrap up a novel-length plot line, introduce a new one that's even bigger and make it look so damned easy? It's so not fair. But I love the titles for it.I hate that they are so short.I'm really curious how Amelia plans to save the vampires and the world she's created. It's amazing that outsiders don't notice especially since there's a college. However all of it makes sense as a whole. How in the heck does she do it?

This book picks up right where the previous one left off, right in the middle of the action. I love when books do that. I flew through this book as quickly as the previous three, barely taking time to eat or sleep. I would compare the infamous Mr. Bishop to Dracula - minus the romantic leanings. Nothing about him is remotely appealing, and he has no interest in making himself appealing, unlike the other two power players in town, Oliver and Amelie. Lots of subplots are developed, but this one felt like more time could have been devoted to these other elements and lengthened the novel a bit without sacrificing the quality of the text, such as exploring how Claire could wield the power of Glass House, the effect that Michael had on others when he performed, Claire's problem with her professor, or even Claire's parents reaction to the truth about Morganville. It feels as if there are too many characters in the script and not enough pages to give them all adequate time in the spotlight. I find the character of Myrnin even more fascinating in this book - he seems sort of like the dark town jester. I was also disappointed in Claire's lack of interest in her classes, given that she was so happy about her schedule change in the last book. The funeral of Eve's father seemed forced, like it was inserted in the plot as an afterthought, especially since we did not see her mother at the ball at the end of the book, even though it seems logical that Mrs. Rosser would try to use the occasion to make a specticle of herself, not unlike Monica Morrell. Wow, so I had alot of nit-picky things to say about this book, but I still really enjoyed it and I really like this series, especially the character of Claire, who has more courage and daring than anyone in the book. I look forward to the next one, Lord of Misrule.

Fast, easy, enjoyable read, but I would have enjoyed it more if I hadn't spent half the book wanting to hit Shane and sometimes Claire and Eve upside the head for being such complete morons. Jealousy impedes higher brain functioning, apparently, at least in Claire and Eve's case. Shane's impulse control problems - I'm not sure where they come from, but if he gets killed at some point in the series, I won't be surprised.

There's a new vampire in town, and he's looking for his daughter! No, no it's not Claire, we all know that by now. It's Amelie. We first met Biship in the wee end pages of the last book in the series, and he came rolling into Glass House following Claires Parents. I like that you get a little more of Amelie in the one. I don't like that Claire's parent aren't really in the book all that much, but whatever because I like Shane and Claire, and Claire's parents aren't reallllllly into Shane.Good Read. Once again...Cliffhanger.

Wow I seem to be giving out Maura's Choice a lot. That's sort of funny, but really I haven't read any books so far that I haven't enjoy thoroughly. But if I have to give a 4 stars to any books in the Morganville Vampire Series, it would have to be Feast of Fools. Anyways for anyone who knows me, you'll know that my favorite book series of all time is Morganville Vampire Series. I just love all the action, sarcasm, and Rachel Caine's clever writing. What can I say the whole book series is fast paced and has wonderful description. My best friend, who hates reading and vampires, somehow adores this series as well. Also what I love about the main protagonist is she isn't your damsel in distress and when she's in trouble she figures it out by herself. The storyline is very appealing and different then most vampire books out there right now, and in this story the human doesn't fall in love with the vampires because most of the vampires in Morganville are evil. Very few are good. My favorite character besides Shane and Claire is Myrinn. He is so darn funny and unpredictable. Also the romance portion of the book between Shane and Claire is nicely developed throughout the series, as well as Eve's and Micheal's romance. The only bad thing about this series is it always leaves you off with a cliffhanger which if you don't have the next book in your hands you'll go crazy trying to figure out whats going to happen next. Also the only book that was slow paced out of all of them was the fourth book, Feast Of Fools but it does pick up by the ending. My favorite ending of all time of a book was in Midnight Alley and my favorite book so far in the series is Dead girls Dance. I highly reccomend this series as it's well done and I gaurentee you'll like it.

For any of you who were frustrated or disappointed with Midnight Alley, Book Three, you’re in for a treat with Feast of Fools. Feast of Fools takes all that we learned or thought we learned from Midnight Alley and puts it all together in a very entertaining package. I could not put Feast of Fools down, and there aren’t a lot of books that I’ve read lately that I can say that about. There is a level of tension in the Morganville books that keeps you on the edge of your seat, even in the background scenes you’re waiting for the other shoe to drop. And it always does. Rachel Caine abuses her characters like a pro, and she doesn’t shirk because these are YA books. Claire and her friends go through hell just trying to survive in Morganville. Her characters are young, Claire is about to turn seventeen, but she is no Mary Sue. She’s smarter than the average bear, but it’s not rubbed into the readers face. Claire’s roommates make up the rest of the main characters in the series, and they are pretty normal, or as normal as they can be after growing up in a town run by vampires. But above it all, each book stresses how important friendship is to these characters. You know without a doubt that they are willing to die for each other. My only complaint is the cliffhanger endings in the series. I need to remind myself that Morganville reads like a TV series not like a movie. There really is no self contained storyline in each book, just a long arc that is being told throughout them all. In other words you cannot pick up Feast of Fools without reading the three books that preceded it.

I wanted to read Feast of Fools because The Morganville Vampire series has become an addiction lately, and I had to know what was happening with Claire the main character, how she would be selfless and help her friends. I also wanted to see more of her romance with Shane, because I think they are a great compliment to one another. In this one we have new players in town. Amelie's dad and his entourage come in and take a special interest in Claire and the Glass House. They were scary and imposing and even Oliver seemed to be toeing the line and concerned about their presence in town. Claire's parents are also in tow, and that makes life all that much more difficult for Claire as they move into one of the founder houses and are influenced and subdued by Bishop (A's dad). They want for Claire to move back with them and things just get tangled because they seem oblivious to the danger in some ways, but in others they are concerned and protective of Claire. Loved getting to see more of Eve as well as her romance with Michael. She is as goth as ever and he is adjusting to being a vampire (previously a ghost who only had form at night and couldn't leave the house). The friendship and loyalty in their house is great to read about and makes me a little envious. The whole plot line with Ysandre bothered me of course. I hated that she had that sort of power, and that humans had no defenses against the mind play. I really hope that something develops there, or they could just kill her. That too. Myrnin is in this one too and he amuses me. I like how he is described, powerful yet also so vulnerable. He shows a side to Claire that not many others see and everything revealed from his past, his great mind, his disease, all make him a very captivating side character. As usual, Rachel left me wanting to read the next book right away. Her endings tie up certain plot lines and then leave others open enough to crave the next one and get a taste of what the characters will be up against. Bottom Line: Loving the series, can't get enough.

Bravo, again for another awesome addition to the Morganville Vampires series. I am so thoroughly hooked to it now that I probably won't be able to function when it's finally over, (which I hope it never will be). Every ending leaves me hungering for more!

When I first started reading the Morganville Vampires series I fell in love with it immediately…or it could possibly have been that I fell in love with the rebelliously sexy Shane Collins immediately—but that’s beside the point. I very much enjoyed Glass Houses and there rest of the series. I bought Feast of Fools the day it came out, but it somehow ended up being set aside and never picked up again until this week. Now that I have devoured the novel I regret that I did not get back to it sooner. In the series’ fourth installment things really begin to get interesting in the vampire infested town of Morganville when Amelie’s “father” shows up in town and begins making demands. Though I spent most of the read in frustration with was the sort of frustration that keeps you turning pages to find out what will happen next. Rachel Caine is, admittedly not the most talented writer but her story is engaging enough—though because of a certain book we all know and…well we all know vampires have become dangerously cliché. For fans of the series I definitely recommend Feast of Fools!

The bad-guy vampire, Bishop, has come to town and he wants something. There's much speculation and anxiety as to what he wants but everyone is afraid they'll find out what come Saturday at the Ball.

The plot of Feast of Fools moves along faster than the previous three books in this series and Claire is right at the center of it all.

This book is incredible. This is another one that I couldn't put down and read in a few hours. I still love all the characters, even the new ones. Eve is still my favorite. The plot is amazing and, of course, it is well written. More than well written actually. I can't wait to read more. I need the next book!

Honestly, the only reason the rating gets bumped up to 3.5 is because Myrnin is just that cool. I'm a little tired of the constant bickering and friendly insults between the four main characters, and Eve and Shane get particulary hard to stand. Geez, if I had to live with them, I'd go crazy.Bishop is scary, though, so that's something. And like I said, Myrnin is just awesome. He's easily my favorite character in the whole series.

Feast of Fools lots of big things happening in this book; there's a new vampire in town who scares everyone (including our scary & nice vampires). Claire's parents have relocated to Morganville ... and all the usual trouble. This book builds up to the welcome ball that Amelie will be holding for Bishop while everyone holds their breath waiting for the volatile situation to erupt. One thing that's basically guaranteed with these books- they start intense and end intense, cliffhangers galore.I am very very hooked on this series and think it's better than a lot of adult paranormal series! I can't wait for the next installment, once again highly reccomended.

The fourth book in Caine's captivating new teen fantasy series, Feast of Fools shows a new twist on vampires...along with a good dose of mystery and love. From the very start of the series, I've been hooked. True, there were times, especially in the first book, when I felt like the story was moving a little bit slow. But it quickly picked up, twisted and turned many times, all the while still holding my interest, making me want to read the next book in order to find out what's going to happen to Claire and her friends.. especially Shane. I'm a sucker for romance, and the one brewing between Claire and Shane is both heart-warmingly tender and very passionate, a great combination, which Caine is able to weave togethre without making the love subplot innocent and boring or slutty and cheap. Sometimes a very hard thing to do, especially in a book written about teens and aimed towards a teenage audience *Though I would recommend these books to any vampire fiction lover..or book lover in general, no matter the age or gender.*Though the story line and writting is different from the countless other vampire books I've read, especially one of my all-time favorites, the infamous Twilight, I still have it listed as one of my favorite because it's different, but in a good way. It's interesting in it's own way, grabbing my attention and not letting go until the end of the book--and even then, I'm waiting, craving the next installment, the next chapter in Claire's difficult life. It's not easy living in a college town that happens to be run by vampires...dozens of them, in fact, and not all of them are good and innocent...I love how Caine is able to twist the story so many times, always keeping you on the edge of you seat, making you believe that you know what is going to happen next-- but wait! Everything's changing...., without slowing down the over-all flow of the story line or, more importantly, confusing the reader. Everytime you flip the page, you'll find yourself being pulled in deeper and deeper into the world of Morganville, Texas, realizing that nothing is as it seems, and maybe, just maybe, the only people you can trust are the people you live with...Then again, maybe not.... I love when an author is able to do that to the reader, pull them in until everything seems real, and you find yourself sighing with pleasure as the hero and heroine share a passionate kiss, or running, breathless and exhausted, away from a dangerous killer. Morganville Vampires provides all of that and so much more!5/5 Stars! Feast of Fools is a perfect combination of fantasy and real life, love and mystery, danger and adventure. A great book, a definite 'must-read' for any vampire fan, especially true Twilight fans.

Not as amazing as the third one, but definitely on par with the first two. This book felt a lot more about the relationships between the characters than about the plot that developed surrounding Bishop in the third book. However, by the middle of the book it really gained focus and the story was fascinating. There's a lot going on towards the end, and it required a good bit of concentration to understand what was happening, but it really was amazing. As usual, it ended on a cliffhanger that makes you want to read the next book straight away.

We were introduced to Myrnin (my personal favorite character in the series) in "Midnight Alley," and I'm glad to say he makes a reappearance in "Feast of Fools." I had a hard time getting into this series, but I can finally say at this point I'm hooked! "Feast of Fools" features more of gutsy Claire, bad-boy Shane, Goth punk Eve, and brooding Michael. Amelie's father, Bishop, arrives in town with an entourage. The town of Morganville is in grave danger just as Claire's parents buy a founder house and move to be closer to Claire. Now, Claire not only has her friends to save, but her parents as well. Myrnin may hold the key to the town's survival, but can Claire trust the aging, diseased vampire? Read to find out; you'll be glad you did. Warning: This book ends with a major cliffhanger. You may want to have book 5 on standby!

Yikes...Feast Of Fools was wonderful...and I truly can't separate the books in this series right now...they are one continuing saga...Feast Of Fools brought to Morganville the most evil of all of the evil vampires...Bishop!!! He is so awful and frightening and controlling and viperish and chilling that all of the other vampires fear him. The Masquerade Ball is frightening...and I cannot even begin to tell you why...the entire book is so delicious that anything I say would be a spoiler!!! So...let me try to summarize...Claire is in the midst of all of the excitement yet again...Shane ( her roommate and love interest) is under the spell of an evil vampire seductress and even Michael...the youngest of all of the vampires...is not in control of himself when Bishop is around. In spite of all of Amelie's ( Queen of Morganville and Clair's sometime protector) strength...the Ball is out of control. Claire's parents have moved to Morganville and are now aware of the vampires and much to Claire's surprise her parents are even at the ball. Her mother is Bishop's personal guest. Myrnin plays a key role in this book and like Claire...I have a love/hate feeling about him. When he is normal and good Myrnin is delightful but when he is bad...wow...there is no mercy in him at all. This series for me at this time is unstoppable. It is a must read can't put down... until the last book is done.

In this series you never know who are friends and foes and this novel is no exception.A new very powerful vampire is in town, and there are no question about his loyalties. He is so full of himself, it's plain scary. He wants to take over the town and is ready to put down any fool standing in his way. Will Morganville surrender? Will Amelie strike back? While Amelie is cold and calculative I really like her, she's smart and fearsome. While playing with the locals lives like they are chess pieces isn't very nice, to say the least, she's got a goal and we can't quite put our finger on it just yet, can't wait to see the bigger picture!I was a bit disappointed that Claire's parents didn't take a more important role in that book. With the big bomb at the end of book 3, I thought they would have a bigger impact in the story but they were only tools to Claire's misery. The end of this book sets an awesome plate for the next episode and I'll be diving in as soon as tomorrow =)

Like the rest of these books a short, easy, but thoroughly enjoyable read. Also like the rest of them, it finishes with a huge cliff-hanger for the next book.Claire and Shane get closer to having sex, but just about restrain themselves. Eve and Michael don't show such restraint, but it's all tastefully off camera. Amelie's father is scary bad, and the big bad for this story and at least the next one. He tries to take over town (that isn't a spoiler, it's pretty obvious from very early on) and there's various fun and games en route to the conclusion. This has at least a bit of a feel of building to a really final climax (and not in the sexual sense) as Morganville is really under threat, a lot of threat, from an enemy powerful enough to destroy it, plus there is a big step towards finding a cure.
