This is a Morganville novel. You have to read them in order, as it's basically one big story. However, I'm enjoying the story immensely.

This volume in the Morganville series might possibly have had the most emotional affect on me. Without giving too much away (I hate spoilers in reviews) imagine if the people around you were slowly forgetting they even knew you! Vampires may be scary, but I think that would just be so horrendous to live through. The story really pulled at my heart and invoked a very emotional response. I felt my heart breaking along with Claire and it was a very real feeling...as if it was me living through that. It's a talented writer who can get a reader to truly feel that connected to their characters. With each installment I seem to like this series, this world and it's characters even more.

Wow, Claire she has had the worst Morganville can offer, wait no she hasn't. Everyone in Morganville is suffering from amnesia, humans, vampires, all have lost years. Chaos rules the streets, there is no safety. Her family is hurt by a sudden scary change. Her love life is ? her friends are ? Claire really is alone for the first time in this novel and she tries not to crumble under the pain.....
Fantastic edition in this saga, we get a good look at the characters. i found ti to be a adrenaline packed adventure in Morganville, oh the ending, wow !.. what could be next ?

I wanted to read this one because it has been my personal pleasure in the last of 2014 (read this one end of December). I love the vampires, the relationship between our main character Claire, who is wicked smart and able to roll with the punches, and her hot boyfriend Shane. It has been heating up a lot and I love each book where they become closer through shared experiences. The mad scientist Myrnin is always fun and surprising to read about. The leader of the town Amelie and 2nd in command Oliver always are mysterious and their motives and goals seemingly ever changing. I love the plots and has been so fun to read. The plot and pacing in Ghost Town did not disappoint. I read half of it in one night and would have read more if my meds didn't knock me out like a blow to the head. Claire finds herself in horrible situations again with impossible choices. It really tipped the power, and made her doubt if the new gained freedoms were all for show. And then the unthinkable happened and I was like oh my gosh. We learned so much from this one encounter and I felt such at a loss because some of the things that I thought wouldn't change in the series did. Claire shows her raw intelligence and will power to survive and protect her friends once again in this one. And I keep on admiring her ingenuity, and loyalty. We get to see to the heart of some of the characters when their memories are stripped three years. We see their actions as they struggle to deal with the losses that they are feeling all anew, the people they are now surrounded by where the relationship dynamics have changed if they even remember them at all. Most of all though, the theme of redemption ran through this one. There are some sacrifices I never saw coming as well as alliances formed that aren't really expected. The action and character development was non-stop and it kept me entertained and engaged. The ending was shocking and even though I probably should have seen parts of it coming, I didn't and when I reached the last page, I immediately wanted the next book in my hands.Bottom Line: Beloved characters facing all new challenges and range of emotions

I was super excited to read this book. I absolutely love this series. Rachel Caine does an amazing job. I could hardly put the book down because it was so good. I feel like we got to know Claire and Shane a lot better. Along with Shane's dad. I was waiting for Shane's dad to save Shane's life by giving up his own. Not a disappointment at all. I could kind of tell what was happening at the beginning, but I was excited to see how it would progress. I was actually worried at the end that everyone wouldn't make it through this with their lives or with their memories. This is a definite must read book!

I always look forward to getting my fix of the next installment of The Morganville Vampire series. It is such a fun and action packed series. And although my interest in vampires has tapered off, this series continues to entertain. The series is still fresh and exciting – quite an accomplishment for the ninth book in a series.

In Ghost Town, Claire and the gang are back in Morganville from taking their road trip in Kiss of Death. It is great to get back to the action in Morganville and see what Myrnin, Amelie and the other vampires are up to. This time Claire gets into a little trouble with the vampires and needs to make amends by working around the clock with Myrnin to fix the Morganville defense system once and for all. They think they have it fixed, but somewhere along the way a mistake happens, and that’s when people begin behaving more strange than usual in Morganville.

Claire is pretty much on her own on this one, trying to solve the towns’ memory problems before the same thing happens to her. The memory loss takes some of her friends back a few years and it is interesting to see a glimpse of their past. It is fascinating to see their reactions to each other. Some of the past is heartbreaking, and it’s sad to see our beloved characters relive their past. Claire has the difficult task of trying to solve the problem with a few new unlikely recruits.

This is my favorite book of the series yet- and the only one I have rated five stars. Ghost Town is a great books for fans of Myrnin, for fans of the romance of Claire and Shane, and for those wanting to learn more about Shane and his family. As usual there is a cliffhanger ending, and I’m excited to see where the series is headed next.

The tenth installment Bite Club is due out May 2nd 2011.

Definitely one of the strongest in the series, but really difficult to read, simply because such awful things get happening to the characters. Claire and Myrnin manage to fix the machine that controls the town, but it ends up wiping the memories of most of the humans and vampires in Morganville. It was really sad watching them all forget who they were, and who they loved. The most unlikely people had to come together and try to fix the machine before Claire lost her memory too. The ending was shocking, and I can only imagine it'll put a huge strain on Shane and Claire's relationship. It was an amazing book, though, and I can't wait for the release of the next one.

Claire and Myrnin managed to fix the computer that controls the security in Morganville. (It runs the portals and barriers around the town that "erase" the memories of people who leave town.) Everything's going so well at the beginning of the book. In fact, that is my reason for a 4-star rating instead of a 5-star. It seemed to take a while before things really got rolling, but once they did, I couldn't put it down! Claire starts noticing people behaving strangely, which is really something to be said for Morganville. People are wandering around, forgetting where they're going and looking for people/buildings that are long gone. Claire just knows it has something to do with the computer she and Myrnin built, but Myrnin's also acting very strange and won't even let Claire near the computer. She enlists the help of her friends, but before long, Eve, Michael, Shane, and Amelie have all fallen prey to the amnesia working its way through Morganville. Somehow, Claire has to convince them to help her destroy the computer. She receives help from an unlikely source: Frank Collins, Shane's dad, who proves he's not such a bad ally after all.

There have been some mixed reviews about this book in The Morganville Vampire series, but I really enjoyed this one. I love getting to watch Claire and Shane's romance grow and read the gangs quirky little remarks to each other. Some VERY shocking events happen and we see the power struggle between Amelie and Oliver finally come to a climax! With one cliff hanger of an ending you will be running out to buy the next book. The Morganville Vampires are like a goth teen soap-opera you can sink your teeth into :)

I have to say, I really hope this series never truly ends, because I don't think I could ever get tired of reading about the escapades of Claire and friends in the supernatural town of Morganville, Texas. In this book, Rachel Caine uses a unique form of mass amnesia to show the reader what Morganville was like before Claire showed up, including many of the different characters that play a part in the series. After Claire is forced to fix the machine that protects the town -- which proves once again how big her brain really is -- amnesia and Myrnin-style craziness erupt in Morganville. Claire, of course, is the only one who correctly guesses the source of the madness, though the more people forget, the harder it is for her to get to the machine and find a way to repair it.If a giant broken machine is not enough to keep Claire busy, Amelie and Oliver are also in a power struggle for control of the town that not even mass amnesia can stop. The power struggle also reveals an interesting twist in their relationship that could be useful in future plots. Allegiances are also revealed, as well as the roles that a few of the vampires play under each of the two heads' discretion. One abhorred character is also conveniently killed off in the middle of this power struggle. The mass amnesia also shows how some of the characters are predisposed to behaving a certain way, even if they can not remember certain things about themselves. Michael and Eve still have chemistry, as do Shane and Claire, and Monica is still the same - though a younger, flouncier version. For the most part, the way the book ends is almost exactly how I predicted it would be, except for one crucial detail that made my jaw drop in shock. I really need to get my hands on the next book, Bite Club.

THIS REVIEW WILL CONTAIN SOME SPOILERS!!! My Review- As always, I just adore the Morganville Vampire Series. Rachel Caine never writes anything boring or a been there, done that book. And she always keeps us waiting on our toes for the next book in the series. In Ghost Town, Claire has to fix the machine that runs the town since Ada got destroyed. Without it, the town defenses will be down, including the portals and the town barriers. After some sort of incident, Claire has to finish working on the machine without any rest, to the point were she feels like just passing out. Once she finished, she thought everything would turn out just fine, but of course, it doesn't. Within the next day, she encounters one to two people who had forgotten something completely or temporarily. As the novel progresses, we start to see some of Claire's friends get affected too. But in order to save Morganville, Claire has to get access to the Control Room under Myrnin's lab, but that is kinda hard to do when Myrnin also loses his memory and does not even remember who Claire is, or what happen to Ada. Now, I don't want to give everything away just in case some of you are reading this but has not read the book yet. But as you can see, this book is anything, but boring. The ending is such a cliffhanger too. The cover looks great, but I feel like they could have done a better job. I guess that the girl on the cover could pass for Claire. I really recommend this book, and I just cannot wait till I get my hands on the copy of the 10th book of the Morganville Vampire series Bite Club. Ghost Town was exactly what I expected - a sweet reunion with the gang, and then some. Fun, light, and captivating. The relationship between Claire and Shane stole the show, as always. Eve and Michael shone, too. Myrnin was so nice to read. And of course, Amelie and Oliver ... dark, powerful, and beautiful together -I wish they were a couple already! I loved it. Recommended to all vampire fans and not only.

I won this book in a goodreads firstreads contest. When I saw this book in the giveaways, I figured I would enter because I have been thinking about reading the Morganville series, but I wasn't sure if I would like it. I figured that if I won, I would read this one, and if the 9th book was good, than I would know the rest of the series would be worth my time. Don't worry, I have read plenty of books out of order before!Anyhow, that being said, this book was good. The story was original, the characters were interesting, and the author used just the right amount of pop culture references to make it seem plausible, without going overboard. I definitely would recommend this series, and I will definitely be reading the rest of it!PS I almost forgot one thing! My favorite pasrt of this book was the fact the one main character bedazzled her stakes! Love it!

I adore Rachel Caine, and I LOVE all of her books, including the Morganville series. That said, this was probably my least favorite of the lot. Not that it wasn't good, it was, just not quite as juicy as the others. In Ghost Town, Claire Danvers is horrified when people, and vamps, in Morganville begin losing their memories (at least of the last 3 years or so), and begins to suspect that it may have something to do with the device that controls the town's borders (among other things). The gang's all here, but it just doesn't have quite the vibrancy as the other books. It does, however, end on a rather abrupt and startling note, leaving what could be a great start to a new story thread. Looking forward to the next book, as usual!

I loved this book. Rachel Caine is an amazing writer who always gives her best. This book was just another great book from an excellent writer. Claire starts an experiment so that travelsers won't remember the secret of Morganville. However her experiment goes wonky and her Best Frind and Boyfriend dont remember who she is. What will poor Clair do! Just great is Clair going to fix the problem before she can forget how to fix it. If you have not ever read this series I suggest you pick it up if you have I suggest you read the current Installment.

OK, what is up with all these villains and taking no consideration over what their humans subjects do for them? I mean, you would think after all the crap that Claire went through in saving this town of vampires they be a little sympathetic towards her right? Wrong. After only trying to protect herself, Claire is in deep trouble. Amelie, faced with angry vampires is trying to make things right for everyone. Claire is punished by sentence to work, with no sleep, no breaks, until she gets the machine working again. After it is done, things start to go haywire.Claire's punishment, to my belief is cruel. I understand you want her to work, fine. But with no sleep? No breaks? How is she supposed to make a machine run if she is dead tired. Plus, they left her down there with a bat-craze vampire! During this section I was biting my nails. Poor Claire couldn't even move her legs. Its no wonder that stupid machine went haywire. The after effects was just weird and heartbreaking. People were forgetting who they were and slowly forgot who Claire was. She was running out of time and running out of people for help. I felt for Claire. Claire was running around trying to help people and people had no idea who she was. When Shane forgot, it broke my heart. I wanted nothing more but to make everyone remember to ease Claire's pain. Even at that, Claire stood strong, tugging along finding a way to fix the machine. In the end, lives were lost and memories where put back in place. But not with the effects already taking its toll on the town and all because of one person. I won't name them. But this is one person that I really enjoyed as a character and what they did, ugh. It just hurt me.Once again Ms. Caine has done it again with her fabulous writing. The Morganville Vampires series is one that I can read over and over again without getting bored. All of her books are filled with great entertainment and non-stop fun. Her characters always bring a smile to my face. And I can always get lost in Morganville. (As long as Claire finds me.) LOL!

This book was one big roller coaster ride! The action starts almost right away. You get to relax once the first crisis is over but it's not long before we're thrown right back. Rachel does a wonderful job at relaying the panic Claire is feeling throughout the story. This was one I couldn't stop reading until the end. I really like how much we learn about Oliver in this book too. She leaves us with a huge cliffhanger this time. I can't wait for the next book!!!!!

By the ninth book, a series is usually wrapping up. If its not, then it often shows signs of crumbling on itself. Shockingly, "Ghost Town", the 9th Morganville Vampires novel is going strong. Sales must be at the peak since suddenly the books are being published as hardback. This annoyed me because I can't possibly wait on a Morganville story long enough for the paperback version, so now my inner book geek cries out against a matching set. The book was well worth Amazon's price of under $10.00. Since Ada, the brain in a computer was destroyed, the town's borders have been down. There is pressure on Myrnin and Claire to get something up and going. Wouldn't do to have accidentally tourists finding themselves in the middle of vampire town...and once you get inside Morganville, you usually don't come back out. Unfortunately Myrnin just doesn't think this new computer system is something they can work out unless there is another brain at the helm. Unfortunately Claire thinks she knows whose brain he wants...hers! When people around town suddenly don't remember where they are or whats happened to them, Claire and company realize something has gone wrong and have to figure out how to fix it. I found this to be the best Morganville book of the past several. It seemed meatier, not just in page legnth, but in the entire set up and execution of the plot. Minor negatives: I've read that readers don't like that Myrnin is at least momentarily put in the spot of bad guy. I agree. I love Myrnin. I do think Caine's use of him here wasn't against the character of his nature. Still he's definitely a fan favorite and readers are going to sympathize and stick up for him. Someone else mentioned this, and I agree. Michael and Eve have been showing signs of trouble in their relationship and you'd never know it here. Everything seemed hunky dory. Have they kissed and made up? Great, but it should be mentioned. What I loved: The cliffhanger rocked. I can't wait to see how this new development will play out. The writing is again top notch and the book is a page turner. There is little or no downtime in the story and that works to keep a good pace. There is also a new development for Claire's parents and I think this was also necessary to keep the story flowing. I'm happy and can't wait to read #10 Bite Club.

So, Morganville, do you ever just have a boring day?Just when you think Rachel Caine has got to be out of ideas and that you'll find Claire locked in the secret room secretly making voodoo dolls of all the people in Morganville (because really sometimes I think she would be the type to play with dolls), but no, gladly Caine delivers once again. No new big bad coming to town, not that you can really top Bishop, and after the excitement of the kids getting to leave Morganville in the last book, what more could there be?How about everyone in Morganville, human and vampires alike, start forgetting just about everything? And Claire has to race against time (okay so she is always racing against time) to save the day before everyone forgets who she is, including her? This book delivers what you would expect from Rachel Caine. Good dialogue, great action, Shane, and most happily a lot more Myrnin!I can't wait for the next book in the series, which I heard has Shane point of view chapters??

Review courtesy of All Things Urban FantasyEvery time I think Rachel Caine has written herself into a corner and can’t possibly think of new ways to torture Claire and her friends, she proves me wrong. GHOST TOWN doesn’t try to top the previous books by bringing in bigger and badder outside threats (really, what could be worse than Bishop?), instead she does something much scarier: she makes Claire watch helplessly as humans and vampires alike forget…everything. At this point in the series I have certain expectations from a Morganville book: smart and snarky dialogue, sweet romance, and helpless fury over the unjust treatment of humans. GHOST TOWN delivers all that and more. In a way, it’s like a tabula rasa, a blank slate. We get to see Myrnin at the height of his insanity, Amelie as the formidable Founder she once was, and best/worst of all we see Shane forget and fall for Claire all over again. Most series fizzle out long before reaching nine books. And fewer still reach that number with any kind of momentum. The Morganville Vampire series has twelve books planned so far and shows no sign of slowing down. I’ll go so far as to say this series gets better with every book. KISS OF DEATH and GHOST TOWN being the best yet. I really hope that everything works out for the TV adaptation. The Morganville Vampire series already reads like it was made for television. Until then, I’ll have to bear the wait like everyone else for the next book, BITE CLUB, due out in April 2011.Sexual Content: Kissing. References to sex.
