I call this book a classic. This is a great book! Although it was written quite a few years ago, it’s not out of date. It’s still relevant for today. I purchased this book some years ago, but I still use as a reference and am constantly finding new passages/quotes to highlight! It teaches how you can enjoy your life where you are no matter what you’re facing. It provides steps to assist with changing your words, thinking, actions, letting go of the past, self-awareness, to become a better you. If you’re looking for encouragement and self-improvement, this is a good book to read.

Pastor Osteen uses Biblical principles to outline a way for the listener to better themselves. Follows the ideas outlined in his book, "Become a Better You". Although not a traditional approach, nor a conservative one, this work can be used by Christians and non-Christians alike to have a more positive attitude about life and to meet the challenges that life often has.

I love Joel. He is so inspiring. This book was educational and actually a little humorous. His message will open your eyes and make you evaluate EVERYTHING you do from here on out. He has a way of gently explaining things so everyone can get it. I would recommend this to anyone.

Really thought provoking. Given to me during a period of sadness, this book gave me a ray of light. His approach is that you are worthy of better because you are a child of God. The book comes across with a positive message about life and goodness without being pompous or preachy.

Wonderful read. I got one of the first ideas for a book after reading this. In a way, it makes you feel a little uncomfortable about your current life which is good and it prompts you that you should be living your best life now. Not tomorrow, but in the present. Osteen delivers great messages throughout his book. One that stood out for me was as follows, "“It is important for a husband to understand that his words have tremendous power in his wife’s life. He needs to bless her with words. She’s given her life to love and care for him, to partner with him, to create a family together, to nurture his children. If he is always finding fault in something she’s doing, always putting her down, he will reap horrendous problems in his marriage and in his life. Moreover, many women today are depressed and feel emotionally abused because their husbands do not bless them with their words. One of the leading causes of emotional breakdowns among married women is the fact that women do not feel valued. One of the main reasons for that deficiency is because husbands are willfully or unwittingly withholding the words of approval women so desperately desire. If you want to see God do wonders in your marriage, start praising your spouse. Start appreciating and encouraging her. Every single day, a husband should tell his wife, “I love you. I appreciate you. You’re the best thing that ever happened to me.” A wife should do the same for her husband. Your relationship would improve immensely if you’d simply start speaking kind, positive words, blessing your spouse instead of cursing him or her.”

some the ideas are good and helpful, but he does not have the capacity to cite scripture to back up his arguments. The texts are usually an afterthought and when you read them in their context, they don't mean what he interprets them to mean. He would be better not to cite the text than to cite it and set the example for others to misquote scripture. I might say that the reason the US mortgage crisis has been so severe has been that people have followed his advice.

its a feel good book with no christian values. I felt hollow after reading it - I want my time back and wish it were possible to give books a rating of zero.
