About this audiobook

The Grey sisters had only each other when their mother died years ago. Their father provided for them physically on Water's Edge, the ranch that had been in their family for three generations, each of them however, longed for their father's love.

Winona, the oldest, knew early on that she could never get it. An overweight dreamer and reader, she didn't exhibit the kinds of talents and strengths her father valued.

Vivi Anne, the youngest, had those things. And it was Vivi Anne who only ever saw a glimmer of their father's approval.

When Vivi Anne makes a fateful decision to follow her heart, rather than take the route of a dutiful daughter, events are set in motion that will test the love and loyalties of the Grey sisters.

With breathtaking pace and penetrating insight, Kristin Hannah's True Colors is a novel about sisters, vengeance, rivalry, betrayal—and ultimately, what it truly means to be a family.

The story was good, however the narration in the different voices for characters was annoying.

This is the story of three sisters - #1- Winona is the responsible one who has tried to take care of the entire family since their mother died, #2 Aurora is the go-between the one who always tries to settle things, and #3 - Vivi Ann is the spoiled one, she's beautiful (like a Barbie doll) and charming and Daddy's favorite.Luke came back to Oyster Shores and renewed his friendship with Winona who unbeknownst to him and loved him since high school. Luke starts to date Vivi Ann and Winona won't tell Vivi her feelings so she becomes bitter and resentful of the relationship. When Vivi Ann two-times Luke with the ranch hand (Dallas), Winona's jealous reactions force her to blurt the news to Luke and set into motion physical and emotional fights that reverberate through the relationships of family and friends. As the story evolves and the relationships between the sisters deteriorate, Vivi and her new husband (she married the ranch hand) have to deal without her family support when he is accused and convicted of murder. The second part of the story surrounds Noah, the son of Vivi and Dallas and the difficulties of growing up with a convicted murderer for a father. Noah's issues and beliefs bring about the changes and help reconstruct the family relationships of the three sisters and bring about the satisfying ending.I felt the story was a bit predictable and that the characters were very ordinary. The storyline didn't seem to be very surprising and the ending seemed very expected.

Because I have macular degeneration and can no longer read, I am learning to listen to books. After teaching school all those years, I know how to appreciate excellent writing. This book is so very well written. In addition, the lady who read it did a very good job.

Another great story from Kristin Hannah. I did like it a lot. It was not as good as The Great Alone or Fire Fly Lane. I feel those are two of her 5’s. So I gave it 3 stars in comparison to the rest of her books. Sweet, easy read

Well. Held my interest even though one could always see what was coming next. Not the same caliber as her other more historical novels.

Love the author re firefly lane amd fly away. But the latest ones I’ve read are always romances that have been secretly inserted there - pls say upfront that this is a romance novel. Most of all though, the reader should not try to do ‘voices’. She made most of the women sound too young and she made the 14 year old boy sound like whoever voiced Rudolph on the stop animation children’s Xmas show. Suuuuper annoying when it’s NOT Rudolph! I love Kristin Hannah but I wish she wouldn’t try to cram so many stories within a story within a story.

I really enjoyed this book. It's emotional and tense in parts but a very satisfying ending! I never had a sister so I like reading about sister relationships. The main love story in this book seemed very real life and I loved it.

This is a story about 3 sisters, their relationship to their father and each other. The younger sister seems to have all the luck, guys want her, her dad approves of her, but her older sister is jealous of her and creates a rift between them.
