About this audiobook

After hitting the #1 spot on the New York Times list with her first novel, L.A. Candy, TV star Lauren Conrad continues the deliciously entertaining series about an ordinary girl leading an extraordinary life.

Full of dishy details about young Hollywood that only an insider can reveal, this entertaining novel shows that lies are only as sweet as the people telling them.

Jane Roberts was the average girl next door until she and her best friend, Scarlett Harp, landed their own reality show, L.A. Candy. Now the girls have an all-access pass to Hollywood's hottest everything. But there's more to life on camera than just parties and shopping....

When racy photos of Jane are leaked to the press, she finds herself at the center of a tabloid scandal. She turns to her co-star Madison Parker for help, unaware that Madison is scheming behind the scenes. She might be Jane's shoulder to cry on, but does Madison really have Jane's back?

Scarlett's working on a scandal of her own. She's fallen for someone who's strictly off-limits—which means Scarlett has a big secret to keep...from the L.A. Candy cameras, the paparazzi staking out her apartment, even from her best friend.

Of course, nothing stays secret for long for the stars of the newest hit TV series, and all this drama couldn't be better for ratings. But can Jane survive another season in the spotlight?

Admittedly this is better than Lauren's debut novel. She does a really good job at adding just enough twists and turns. All of a sudden there is some drama, which is just enough to make me pick up the final book in the series. To be perfectly honest though, I really don't connect with or care about any of these characters which is no bueno. I really think I'm giving three stars out of sympathy.

Awful narrator. Awful awful. Would rather listen to nails on a chalkboard. Her voices of the different characters were just so bad!!! The magazine editor has a heavy New York accent (stereotypical), the director has a British accent, one paparazzi from Texas (?) yet they all live in California? When she reads a text message she speaks like she can't read the words. So frustrating! I could go on- just horrible. Book meh -why wouldn't best friend believe other best friend over some person she barely knows? Frustrating and annoying.

I rated this book 4 stars. I rated this book, Sweet Little Lies by Lauren Conrad 4 stars because it’s very entertaining and believable. Sweet Little Lies is a great second book in Lauren Conrad’s, “LA Candy” series. It is about two best friends that move two California and are greeted by a television show deal. The girls, Jane and Scarlette, very naïve, agree to shoot a season of the show, “LA Candy”. With much drama, the two girls come to a bump in their friendship and soon come to feel they regret accepting the job offer.Lauren Conrad certainly had a great perspective on this book. Lauren pretty much went through this herself while on the hit TV show, “The Hills”. She uses her experience and adds some drama and suspense and she produced a very well-written book. I think it’s great she chose this topic to write about, because it really is something she can relate to. Her experience makes this book way more believable. The way she wrote this is appropriate for any teenage girl. It is an easy read, but the interesting plot makes it so much better. I probably would not suggest this to an adult, simply because it is does not have much depth. But, if they are looking for a light read, this would be good. I really love this book because, once you read one of the books, you are determined to finish the whole series!Sweet Little Lies definitely deserves a rating of 4 stars. Lauren Conrad did great using her own experience to write this book and that made it very enjoyable. I cannot wait to read the next book in this great series, “Sugar and Spice”.

this was another cute book by lauren conrad. I enjoyed the characters yet again, but at points got bored with it, knowing that the characters would end up being best friends at the end of the book. would love to see a little more "substance" in the story line, but loved the quick read and lightness to it. Another great book by Conrad!

Book 2 in the L.A. Candy series. Jane and Scarlett continue their adventures as reality TV's hottest new stars, while Madison continues to try to steal the spotlight. Jane tries to patch up her relationship with Jesse, she and Scarlett get in a huge fight and Jane moves in with Madison, and Jane finally discovers who's been leaking info about her to the press. Meanwhile, we discover Madison may not be who she seems.

This second book in the L.A. Candy series picks right up from where the first let off. Jane is back in LA, deciding between friends, boys and her crazy tv life.Though this book isn't much different from the first book in terms of theme, voice, and plot, this second installment sends an almost dangerous message about abusive relationships. I am so disappointed that a young pop-star would introduce a character that stays with a boy who is emotionally, verbally and physically abusive. If Conrad is purposely trying to bring up the issue of abusive relationships, then I commend her, but the account of it here is grossly underdeveloped. In one instance, Jane blames herself when Jesse drives drunk with her in the car screaming and crying, calls her a slut and kicks her out on the street. There are hints as several other such instances of verbal abuse culminating when he throws her to the ground, yet the word "abuse" isn't mentioned. This book's audience is the same young women who saw the Rihanna/Chris Brown scandal and its repercussions. Pop-stars need to send a message that this "bad boy" behavior is unacceptable and Conrad totally missed the opportunity to use her plot to send hope. Instead, she sends the message that the girl is at fault, she can change him and that she should forgive him. I would not recommend this book to anyone, let alone any teen girl.
