About this audiobook

The intrepid women of The Hot Flash Club are back for the holidays, soothing jingled nerves and stressed shoppers in their exclusive spa and celebrating the joys of the season. In her witty and delightfully wisecracking prose, Nancy Thayer tells a heartwarming tale packed with fun, secrets, romance-and an ample dose of good cheer.

When the Hot Flash friends gather at the spa to trim the Christmas tree, they share steaming mugs of hot chocolate, a few laughs, and a vow to make this holiday one to remember. And it is-but not in the cheerful, ho-ho-ho way they expected. Instead, Christmas brings family conflicts, household accidents, plane delays-and that's just the beginning.

After a hazardous holiday season, the women make resolutions that they intend to keep . . . in a perfect world. But life-and their friends and relatives-cause complications. Shirley lends financial support to her boyfriend's schemes, which infuriates Alice, whose own son commits an act she's not sure she can accept. Marilyn travels to Scotland and falls in love, but her octogenarian mother needs her at home. And when Polly and Faye find themselves pitted against each other by a younger woman, an they overcome this clash to make a new, entrepreneurial dream come true? Then real disaster strikes, bringing new challenges and surprising revelations.

Just as every month of the year throws new problems at us all, so too does the end of the year give us the chance to reunite and put these problems
into their proper perspective. And when the Hot Flash Five get together for the holidays, we should expect nothing less than the unexpected.

I just finished [Hot Flash Holidays] which was just what I needed--some humor, the ability to laugh at ourselves and deal with the changes that come with aging. I finished it in two evenings.Very humorous and so true, best understood by "women of a certain age." Now I need to read the others in the series. 5 stars

It's been a while since I read this book, but I enjoyed ALL The Hot Flash Club books, because of the humour. I would like to find more books like these and Janet Evanovich's "Stephanie Plum" that not only have mystery but also Humour.

This was a good book. Due to surgery I have been plunged into those dreaded hot flashes. I understood what these women were saying and doing. I enjoyed the comedy that comes from times when you feel you must rip off clothing, trying to get cool and unknowing bystanders wondering about your sanity. You say to yourself, "one day the bulk of the female population will finally understand and they will ask themselves why they ever wished for their "aunt" to leave and this to be its replacement ". The book didn't have a lot of girth to it, but it was a good quick read.

My current book favorite is "Hot Flash Holidays." Yes, I'm reading about menopausal women even though i'm decades away. I get warm fuzzy feelings when I read this book, maybe b/c the characters are not snarky, not thin, not pouty. And they say things like, "To love someone means knowing fear" without any sense of irony. You know nothing really grusome or heartbreaking will happen here, unlike "Instant Love" which is one big hairy ball of disillusionment.

I laughed till it hurt thru most of this book. Definitely it is geared towards menopausal women--younger folks will not get the references or find it as relatable as I did. Wonderful friendships between the Hot Flash Club plus a new person, Polly. All hail the strong and independent woman!

This entry in the series follows the Hot Flash Club through a calendar year of holidays, beginning with Christmas and rolling around to Thanksgiving. As usual, the members of the HFC are dealing with adult children, grandchildren (both those here and those expected), romances (both successful and un), and generally working their way through various disasters and triumphs. This reviewer's major annoyance with the book deals with the characters' concerns about their spreading waistlines as they munch their way through a year's worth of rich desserts, booze, and chocolate. (Fer petesake, ladies, either pass on the cookies or kwitcherbitchin.)There are some funny moments here, but few surprises and of course everything ends up happy-ever-after (or at least until the next entry in the series).
