Beth and Sara are sisters-of-the-heart and have built a very successful business together. But Beth does not like Sara's husband and because of that Beth has had to hold her tongue...a lot, and it's put a strain on their relationship. Seagrove Village is hit hard again by an act of terrorism. Sara's husband is kidnapped and a few think it might be Beth. Then there is Sara's strange behavior. Beth doesn't know what to make of it all or who to trust and is trying to figure out how it's all connected. Then there's Joe, a man from her past that she finds herself very attracted to. There's a strong connection between them but Beth is apprehensive. Someone in their village is a traitor, will they figure out who it is before it's to late? What an excellent romantic suspense! I was glued to the pages from beginning to end. I had come to know the folks of Seagrove Village after reading Deadly Ties and was anxious to return there with Not This Time. I really liked everything about this story. Most especially the relationship between Joe and Beth. I just loved how they were together! I also enjoyed the dynamics of the Shadow Watchers. How a tight-knit team operates and interacts. I really appreciated how the author skillfully wove the message though the story, that nobody is beyond redemption if they choose to turn to the Lord. It doesn't change your past or the circumstances you're in, but it's the peace that passes all understanding that washes over you and gives you hope and changes the way you think. It was a great conclusion to the series but I was sure sorry to say goodbye the folks of Seagrove Village! Although you could read this as a stand alone, this is a series I would highly encourage reading in order. Not This Time is a tightly woven story that keeps you on your toes. I highly recommend it but be sure to buckle your seat belt, there's lots of curves ahead!!! Great job Vicki!!!Paperback: 336 pagesPublisher: Multnomah Books (February 21, 2012)ISBN-10: 1601422075ISBN-13: 978-1601422071*I received this book from the publisher through LibraryThing in exchange for my honest review*

I have mixed feelings on Vicki Hinze's new book, Not This Time. Vicki is a very good writer of Christian fiction, but I think this one has a problem with too much background information at the beginning. The first few chapters were nearly impossible to follow even though I had read one of the previous books in this series. I wish I had read the second before this one. Multiple new people were introduced on every page, and although the author tried very hard to explain each character, I was totally lost. I actually stopped and started the book over. It didn't help because I was still lost and rather frustrated by it. I decided to just forget the first part and just plow through, and it turned out to be a good story. Not This Time is a more of a thriller rather than a mystery with characters that are government agents chasing an international criminal ring. The characters were varied and interesting. The topics of faith, hope, and forgiveness were evident throughout the book. One character struggles with her criminal behavior and seeks forgiveness. This was a wonderful addition to this book to show God’s love and forgiveness for the worst of the worst. I don’t normally read romantic novels, but I have to say that I enjoyed the romance that developed between Beth and Joe. Beth was hurt and humiliated by a previous love and trusting “ladies man” Joe was difficult. Their relationship had to progress slowly. Joe, too, had past issues, and he gradually opened up about his Cajun upbringing. I enjoyed the book, but I would recommend reading the first two in the Crossroads Crisis Center series before this one or be prepared to make a flow-chart to keep track of characters!I was provided a review copy of Not This Time by Vicki Hinze in return for an honest review.

Not This Time is book 3 in Vicki Hinze’s Crossroad Crisis series. I read book 1, Forget Me Not and enjoyed it., but have not read book 2, Deadly Ties. That may be why I didn’t really connect with this story. The books are set in the fictional Florida Panhandle coast community of Seagrove Village where everyone knows everyone. The reader is expected to as well. There are lots of people mentioned but not a lot of context, so I was a bit distracted trying to figure out relationships and not focused on the story at hand. My suggestion is to start at the beginning of the series and read them in order.Beth is a very successful computer software business woman with ties to Quantico. She and her partner Sara have been friends since college and have a very close relationship. Or at least they did until Sara married Robert whom Beth detests. A terrorist attack and Sara’s missing husband, put Beth on the alert and Sara in the hospital. Now the mystery surrounding Sara’s secrets and Robert’s kidnapping are front and center for Beth and an attractive, yet elusive Special Ops agent, Joe.Not This Time is a romantic suspense novel, heavy on the romance. The suspense revolves around a terrorist organization that has infiltrated the small town. Long time residents and newcomers alike are under scrutiny. You really can’t be sure of whom to trust. A bit predictable, the novel is nevertheless quick-paced and should be considered escape reading.

Posted on Romancing the Book's blogReviewed by LisaReview Copy Provided by EdelweissBeth Dawson and Sara Jones-Tayton run a successful software business called SaBe that assists the government with security issues. After a whirl wind courtship Sara marries the mysterious Robert Tayton. With Beth and Sara’s relationship now strained due to Robert, Beth becomes the prime suspect when Robert is kidnapped. After an act of terrorism and Robert’s kidnapping, Beth life is turned upside down. Beth will have to rely on her faith and a man from her past to solve Robert’s kidnapping. Terrorism has come to the small town of Seagrove Village, Florida, courtesy of Nihilists in Anarchy (NINA) in Vicki Hinze’s third book in the Crossroads Crisis Center series, Not This Time. This is a fast paced romantic suspense book that introduces many characters in the first several chapters. For that reason, I do recommend reading the other Crossroads Crisis Center books in the series for additional background on some of the characters. The main characters of Beth and Sara are well developed, as are the secondary characters. The reader can easily become emotionally invested in the characters of Beth and Sara and the outcome of Robert’s kidnapping. Not This Time has plenty of twists and turns to keep the reader engaged and guessing until the end. There is good flow to the story and the plot moves quickly as do the subplots. Christian themes of redemption and forgiveness are incorporated which compliment the elements of romantic suspense effortlessly. Fasten your seatbelt and get ready for a wild ride in Seagrove Village. If you are looking for great suspense book with romantic elements, this one will not disappoint. Favorite Quote: “Some people were in your life for your whole life, but most were there just for a season. When it ended, they moved on and so did you. Of those people, some were blessings, some gave you something you needed, and some took something they needed.”

I was pleased to receive this advanced review copy and Ms. Hinze did not disappoint. This series continues to hold my attention. As with the preceding books in the series, this was a quick and exciting read, though it was a bit confusing early on keeping track of some of the peripheral characters since some time has passed since reading the last installment. Still, this in no way detracted from my enjoyment of the book and my teenager already has dibs on reading it next. It is a pleasure not to have to worry about whether or not the book will be appropriate. I will definitely continue on with this series!

I loved this book. There was so much going on that the story just flew by. There was drama, suspense, mystery, romance, it had so much too it.The characters were pretty good. Sara reminded me of myself a bit. She was so loyal to her friend Beth that she would have done anything to protect her. She didn't have the best idea, but she was doing what she thought she had to do to keep those around her safe. I wish she reminded me of myself because she was rich - but we can all dream right? Beth was also loyal, but seemed to have a much stronger support group around her. She was able to deal with things, but also checked with her friends to get their advice on what she should do. The two seemed to have the kind of friendship that everyone wants. Even with Beth's doubts about Sara's husband Beth is able to keep their friendship strong without pushing Sara away by voicing her displeasure with Sara's husband. I don't know that I would have been able to keep my mouth shut that long, but somehow Beth does it. She lets her need to be Sara's friend over ride her despise for Robert. The story is the second in a series, and I didn't get to read the first one. However, this was so well written that all of the back story was filled in and I didn't feel like the author was just throwing information at me. Everything had a reason, and as the need for a particular fact arose Hinze wove it into the story beautifully. I still would like to read the fist one, but I don't feel like I was "missing" anything from the first book. It's a pretty quick read. The mystery of Nina and who in the small circle of characters is part of Nina was exciting to try and figure out. Just when you think you've got it all figured out there's another clue that kind of throws everything off. It doesn't take a complete turn, but it give the story a bit of a jog. Just enough to keep it exciting without being frustrating! There's a few things that I didn't see coming but they were by no means so far out of the park that they didn't fit the story. I was masterfully put together! My favorite thing about this book is that although there was quite a bit going on it wasn't a confusing story. I didn't have to re-read any of it and it didn't take much to keep myself on track. I was able to keep up with everything - which can sometimes be a problem in a book that has so much going on!

"Not This Time" By Vicki Hinze was awarded to me through the early review program. The story starts out in the first chapter with a major event which involves a lot of different people. I found it very hard to get into the first few chapters because of that. It was not until after i had read the book that i found out it was third in a series. The main characters were Beth and Sara who own a multi-million dollar business called SaBe which was the target of the attacks by the terrorist group called "NINA". Beth and Sara are best friends whose relationship becomes strained when Sara's husband comes up missing and a ransom is required for his return. With NINA setting up surprise attacks where the people of the town least expect it no one can figure out who to trust. It depends on Beth's new boyfriend Joe to slove the strange things that keep happening and to find out just which one of the people in the town of Seagrove is working against them and for the terrorist. There is a lot of action in the story such as kidnapping, murder, lying and love. I can't wait to read the first two now. The author had me had me captured from the very first chapter to the very end. I hope she will write a fourth in this series.

Beth and Sara, best friends own a multi-million dollar business together. In the small town of Seagrove Village Sara's husband, Robert was kidnapped with a ransom note. They found his rental car with traces of blood. Sara started acting strange and Beth didn't know who to trust. This was a suspenseful story with lots of twists and turns. I had a hard time following the storyline until the last few chapters. I think I would have been to understand the story better if I had read the previous books. However, I did enjoy the author's style and will definetely read more of her work.

I thought this book was really well written. It held my attention all the way through. The last half of the book left me on the edge of my seat the entire time. I enjoyed reading a book that had godly characters who were believable. When trouble comes our way and our faith is tested, how do we respond? It was great to see that scenario played out in this book. Would definitely recommend.

This was an awesome book! It is the third in the series and I had not read the first two before this so the beginning was a bit confusing but after that I was hooked! Great suspense that kept me guessing till the very end!

Not This Time by Vicki Hinze was a fun read. It fits into the Christian Fiction genre as a suspenseful crime drama with a little faith and budding romance thrown in. This story is the third in the Crossroads Crisis Center series, but it can be enjoyed alone without feeling like you are missing part of the story. I very much enjoyed the developing romances, was slightly impatient with the pace of the story, and felt like it could be a little preachy at times, but overall, I give it four stars and look forward to reading future novels by Ms. Hinze!

This is the third book in the Crossroads Crisis Center series. The book has some carry over from the other two books which I had not read, but was still a good book to read. It seems that the town of Seagrove village has been hit again by terrorism and the no one knows who to trust. Vicki Hinze does a good job of keeping you turning the pages to see how things work out and how the characters learn who to trust.More from Vicki can be found here vickihinze.com
