After reading the first two books of this series, I was looking forward to the third one.In this book Faolan, the wolf finally travels to the Sacred Ring of Volcanoes to become a Watch Wolf. With him goes Edme, former gnaw wolf from the MacHeath clan. The book shows their arrival and months of learning at the Watch. They encounter a terrible plan from the MacHeaths to destroy the Wolves of the Watch and are a major key to interrupting that plan. Just as in the first two books of the series, the story in this one is fascinating and catching. Edme gets a more important role in here, changing from a beaten, grovelling wolf to one who fights for her believes, not giving up. Faolan gets more and more mysterious, with things happening around him, that he himself doesn't understand and which make the reader even more curious about the destiny this wolf will have. The writing style is easy to follow, the language not too complicated, apart from some wolf terms, which the reader has to know to understand them.I would say, this is a really good read for everyone who loves wolves or animal fantasy in general. I also think that children will find Faolan's story from a lost wolf, who doesn't know where he belongs, to a strong, loyal character interesting. The only thing I think a bit disappointing is that you don't get a list of wolf terms at the end of the book. Some terms you might remember from the other books, but it would still be helpful to have a list of them.

A fun read. I started reading the Ga'Hoole books my Kathryn Lasky, and these are a kind of continuation in the same world, from a very different perspective.
