About this audiobook

FORBIDDEN TEMPTATIONS

Serena Kelley is an archaeologist and treasure hunter-and a woman with a secret. Since she was seven, she's been the keeper of a powerful charm that grants her health and immortality . . . as long as she stays a virgin. But Serena isn't all that innocent. And when a dangerously handsome stranger brings her to the brink of ecstasy, she wonders if she's finally met the one man she cannot resist.

FATAL DESIRES

Wraith is a Seminus demon with a death wish. But when an old enemy poisons him, he must find Serena and persuade her to give him the only known antidote in the universe-her charm. Yet, as she begins to surrender to his seductions and Wraith senses the cure is within his grasp, he realizes a horrible truth: He's falling for the woman whose life he must take in order to save his own.

A woman who is a virgin, wears the fate of the world around her neck. This necklace can start the end of the world. If she looses her virginity, she loses the necklace. And she dies. Serena was bitten by a Mara demon as a child, and the only reason that she is still alive is because the person who wears the necklace is "charmed" so that no harm can come to that person.

Wraith is dying. In the last book the brothers may have defeated their sinister brother, Roag, but Roag had made plans that in the case that he dies, the brothers will still die. Assassins were hired to kill Shade, Eidolon, and Wraith. One of the assassins, managed to shoot a poison dart into Wraith. The poison in the dart carried a poison that Roag had stolen from Eidolon's collection. This poison is incurable, and is KILLING Wraith. The only way for Wraith to survive is to take Serena's virginity, and acquire her charm, so that he will live.

All the books are amazing. And with the war and prophecy that occurs in this book, makes me enjoy the series a lot more.

While I liked Passion Unleashed, I didn't enjoy it as much as the first two books in the series. It just didn't grip me right away and I wasn't as invested in Wraith and Serena. I liked them together and I was curious to see what Ione would do to give them a HEA, but felt that everything was wrapped up a little too neatly. Wraith didn't surprise me at all with the way he dealt with Serena. He seemed like such a hard ass, but we got glimpses of his kindness before. Serena was likable enough, even though she did stupid things sometimes. I understood though since she was virtually invincible and it I liked how she learned quickly when she needed Wraith.

I think my main problem with this story was the similarities to JR Ward's Black Dagger Brotherhood. In the first two books, I thought the writing style was similar, but not enough to detract from Ione's world. That was not the case in this one, IMO. It really took me away from the story too many times and it is the main reason I didn't like it more.

This Demonics novel was good, but started off rather slow for me. Each of the brothers has his own rough edges, but Wraith's particular brand of jerk didn't really appeal to me. Throughout the book, the biggest spark of interest I had was for Luc, I'm hoping he shows up in his own book soon.

After watching Wraith stalk through the first two Demonica novels, just about the most damaged, unrepentant bad boy one could imagine meeting in a romance novel, I was really curious to see how Ione would turn him around in PASSION UNLEASHED. I was even more curious because the blurb explains that the heroine, Serena, is a virgin - not just a virgin-by-choice, but a virgin-by-necessity. For reasons the book explains in detail but I'll skip here, she'll die if she has sex. Meanwhile, Wraith will die if he doesn't have sex with her. That is quite a conundrum.

There was a teeny part of me that felt a little cheated here. Teeny, because I really liked how the book unfolded and I was satisfied by it. Cheated because Wraith, the most incubus-y of all the incubus brothers, the only one to go through the s'genesis without a mate, is also the only one to find a loophole that allows him to go for days at a time without having sex. Because Wraith is dying and weak, his sex drive isn't quite up to par. This particular story, with all its Catch-22s, would have been impossible without the loophole...but it made Wraith a little less Wraithy.

We've gotten to know Wraith (in earlier books) as a pretty selfish guy who acts without thinking and doesn't do well with responsibility. Turning him into a hero we'll root for means putting him through the wringer, making him see the error of his ways. At the same time, reforming a bad boy doesn't mean giving him a personality transplant. I think this is a pretty delicate line for an author to walk, and Ione succeeds brilliantly here. She develops Wraith's feelings toward Serena slowly and naturally, and because of the virgin/dying problem, he can only act on his feelings through selfless behavior. It's kind of the opposite of how most romance novels go, where the more the H/H love one another the more likely they are to have sex. In PASSION UNLEASHED, the more Wraith loves Serena the *less* likely he is to have sex with her.

I have to admit that I've been surprised by how much I like this series. I thought it would be kind of trashy erotica, and it's nice and steamy, but it's also a lot more. I'm really hooked on the big issues that span the series now, totally into the backstory and complexities of the Demonica world, and I like the way that every romance poses some pretty knotty problems for the H/H to overcome. The solution to Wraith and Serena's seemingly insoluble problem is pretty brilliant, something that should have been obvious from the get-go but wasn't, and was particularly appropriate to Wraith's character and challenges.

    Passion Unleashed
    4 Stars

Imaginative world building, fast paced action and a sweet romance.

Ione's Demonica universe is detailed and complex. The ethical dilemmas faced by the characters are unique and nothing is ever as it seems. In this installment, the question arises as to whether the tortured and seemingly irredeemable Wraith will kill an innocent to save his own skin. Of course, it is not that simple and it turns out that the fate of the world relies on the outcome.

Wraith is definitely a bad-boy but there is more to him than a granite exterior and a vicious tongue. It soon becomes evident that he cares deeply for those closest to him and his facade is merely a self-defense mechanism. His backstory is difficult to read although not as heart-wrenching as Zarek's in the Dark Hunters or Zsadist's in BDB (a series that is virtually impossible for me to read but don't get me started on those ridiculous Lessers).

The romance in Passion Unleashed plays out rapidly and is on the predictable side with the resolution to Serena's impending demise glaringly obvious. Nevertheless, it is entertaining to see how it all plays out as Wraith and Serena are a sweet couple with a compelling bond. The conclusion, while saccharine sweet, meshes well with the characters and the tone of the story.

The secondary characters are also nicely fleshed out from the repellant villain to the protective father figure and the developing romance between Gem and Kynan.

In sum, a strong addition to a solid series and there are hints and interesting things to come.

The more I read this series, the more I love it and thus far Wraith has been one of my favorite characters. I love me the bad boys and Wraith is such a great bad boy. Wraith the half vampire half seminus demon is dying, he's been poisoned and the only way to survive is to get a charm from a human woman, Serena. In order to get Serena to surrender the charm Wraith must seduce her, something he's really really good at...except he doesn't do humans.Larissa Ione has created a sophisticated world of demons, vampires, weres, angel, humans and every mixture of the above. Wraith is half vampire half seminus demon which means he's an incubus needing blood and a whole lotta sex, and really Wraith has no problem sleeping with anything of the female persuasion. Unlike his brothers Wraith is the one with the very tortured past. Wraith cares for no one except is brothers and even that's iffy.Serena is the perfect match for Wraith, she loves adventure as much as he does and travels the world searching for artifacts for the Aegis and because of her amulet she knows she can't be physically hurt so she throws herself into any kind of danger...just like Wraith. The one problem, he's a sex demon and she's a virgin and must stay that way.The plot moves along very quickly and it features everyone from the previous two books. The characters in this series are amazing all bad asses while still remaining very unique. If any of the characters deserved their HEA it was definitely Wraith. His past gave him some BIG issues, saving the world and getting the girl go along way towards making him whole, but knowing Wraith he's gonna brag just a little bit. I absolutely adore this series and I have already finished the next two books, highly recommend to all PNR fans!

I didn't believe it when people said Wraith was there favorite. After reading Shade's book, I didn't think it could get better than him. And even though I absolutely love Wraith after this book, Shade is still my favorite. Just because. But I was surprised to like Wraith so much. In the previous books, he was cocky, annoying, and just...intolerable pretty much. I mean, I knew that he cared about his brothers, obviously but I still didn't like him. But to my complete and utter disbelief...well...I fell in love. Wraith became caring, loving, and protective in a really sexy way. Not only that but I love Serena. Those two were absolutely perfect for each other. I hate to admit it, but the ending terrified because I actually thought Wraith might lose Serena. I even started crying.Overall, I really loved this book. Although my heart still belongs to Shade, I still achingly love Wraith. The plot was amazing and exciting, the characters were hilarious and heart-wrenching, and now more than ever I am desperate for the fourth book. Fingers crossed I'll get it soon because I am so excited to learn more about Lore.Rating: 5 out of 5 Stars

While Passion Unleased isn't a bad book, it is definitely the weakest of the series. At times I was so frustrated with the stubbornness of the characters and the lack of common sense that I wondered why I was still reading. The plot was rather predictable. Although as it appeared that Wraith was in a no-win situation thoughout most of the book and the reader knew what the outcome would be, the tension as to how the book would finally get to that point was its redeeming factor. After reading this book I did not anticipate the 4th installment in the series (which lives up to the quality of the first two) with near as much enthusiasm as I had the third.

I received this book as part of the Early Reviewer program and although it can be read as a stand alone book, I had to stop and read the two previous books. I recommend that these books are read in order. Normally any paranormal that has a glossary makes me rethink my choice. I wonder if the world that the author has created is so complex that the reader needs help to grasp it all. Usually at that point I put the book down. However, glossary aside, Larissa Ione creates a world which really drew me in. The characters are well written, and the plot and subplots kept my attention. I gave the book four stars instead of five because of its similarity to the Black Dagger Brotherhood series by J.R. Ward.

3.5 starsI wasn't all that impressed with Wraith's story. I felt it could have been so much more interesting. There was a lot of action, but it was predictable. I knew 30 pages into the book how it was going to end, and it did. Serena was a Virgin Charmed human who possessed the key to the end of the world, and Wraith was a dying vampire/demon who needed her charm in order to stay alive. The whole treasure hunt didn't last that long, and it was mostly them having virtual sex, fighting off Byzymoth, the bad guy of the book, and a few subplots with Kynan and Gem. The only twist in the story was with Lore, and that WAS unexpected, but cool nonetheless.I was thinking that NBC should buy the rights to this series and make a really cool Medical show, instead of the crap that is out right now. Nothing says COOL, and BIG Ratings like an Underground Demon Hospital LOL

It took a little while for the book to grab me and pull me into it's pages. The world Larissa Ione builds is an interesting one but not having read the first two books of this series, I felt overwhelmed at the beginning with all the different species to sort through. But once I got past all that, I enjoyed the actually story unfolding. I would strongly suggest to read through the Glossary and the Compendium, located in the front and back respectively if you are new to the series. The book is about Serena Kelley, a human charmed by angels, and Wraith a Seminus demon, and the end of the world as they know it. Wraith is poisoned by an assassin. His only hope of living is to seduce Serena and steal her charm. Serena, a virgin, was bitten by a demon as a child is she gives up her virginity she will die. The charm is the only thing keeping her alive. I would have rated this story a 4 star if I hadn't had such a hard time getting past all the demonology at the onset. As with any series my strongest advise is to start at the beginning.

I read this book as part of the Early Reviewers program, so I wasn't originally aware it was part of a series. But I promised a review, so I read it anyways. Only a few pages into the book, I felt sorry for not reading the previous novels first, but by the end, I was glad I kept with it. The characters are lovable, the story is exciting, and the world is extremely interesting. I've been looking for a new world, a new series to get into, and I have to say, I think this is it! You know a series is good when you immediately want to go out and get the previous novels. Luckily, this book comes with a glossary infront to explain some terms that may be confusing for readers, as well as an encyclopedia of demons in the world, and a brief history of the Underworld General hospital, which does help a lot. I'm a fan of series such as those written by Laurell K. Hamilton and Sherrilyn Kenyon, and I enjoyed this, so anyone with similar tastes should definitely look up "Passion Unleashed!"

I must admit, I felt a little lost in the series. This seems to be a world she is building up, book by book. Given that I have not read the 2 prevous books, I felt lost. However, I was able to follow the jist of things. The characters are likeable and you want there to be some solution so they can be together. It sounds like this series will be good by accumulation but it is definetly not something you can read out of order. All in all, a good fast paced read with unique traits that make this an interesting story.

Loved it! I was already a fan of Ione's writing from the first two books in her Demonica series. Wraith's story kept me firmly in the fold. An excellent read with a solid plotline and great characters, both new and old. I was completely wrapped up in her universe and want to go back as soon as possible. An excellent book in an excellent series, I cannot recommend it enough to fans of paranormal romance.More please!

Being born half incubus demon and half vampire, Wraith has always tried to escape what he is with a death wish which has seriously tested the patience of his half-brothers. However, when he is attacked and infected with a deadly poison for which there is no antidote he finds himself faced with the necessity of saving himself the only way he can...by seducing an innocent virgin and taking away the charm that protects her life. The problem is that the more time he spends with the Serena, the charmed archeologist, the more intriguing he finds her and the less he wants to do what he must to save himself and all those he holds dear.Although this is the third book of this author's Demonica series, it is the first one I've read by her and I have to say I was impressed. Although this bears similarities to other paranormal romances I've read in characterization and plot I thought it was very well written and engaging. It didn't strike me as redundant at all, which was a very pleasant surprise. I really enjoyed the leading two characters of Wraith and Serena and I liked the pace and progress of their relationship throughout the book. The secondary romance wasn't as appealing to me, but that may have been because I don't have the background to have made it more emotionally satisfying not having read the first two books. On the other hand this relationship, along with many of the other secondary characters, served to advance the overarching plot of the series and I think that those invested in the series would find it very interesting. Overall I really enjoyed this story, it moved well, the writing was smooth and the characters were interesting. Certainly this is one I'd recommend to fans of J.R.Ward's BDB series or Kenyon's Dark Hunter series who are looking for other romance series to explore.

Underworld General Hospital (introduced to us in Pleasure Unbound and Desire Unchained- the first two book's in Ione's Demonica series) is in serious trouble. The hospital, created by three demon brothers to provide a place of healing for creatures like them, is falling apart. And it's endangered because one of the brothers, the unpredictable Wraith, has been poisoned.Wraith has a death wish, abandoned by his Seminus Demon father and tortured by his Vampire mother and her kind, he could care less if his life ended. But, as they soon discover, the hospital is linked to the brothers so if he dies, the hospital dies. The only cure to be had comes in the form of a charm worn by an obscure archaeologist named Serena Kelley, who just happens to be the catalyst to start Armageddon, the ultimate war between good and evil- and those in between. To get the charm Wraith must take the unsuspecting Serena's virginity. Unfortunately in doing so- he will seal her own death. Normally this wouldn't be a problem with the darkly charming, love em and leave em, fully matured Seminus Demon whose one driving instinct is to impregnate the entire female population, demon or otherwise- but the more time Wraith spends with the gutsy adventurer the less he likes the idea of harming her. When the ultimate showdown arrives will he be able to give up the deep passion he's unleashed in both of them or will he, perhaps for the very first time, submit to duty and save the entire world?Fantastic read. Sure the whole "lose your virginity and die" metaphor is one old saw that makes a girl wince when she comes upon it, but the way Ione wraps this ultimately romantic story in adventure complete with apocalyptic battles between angels and demons, the likes of which can only be termed "biblical"- who really cares? There's a lot going on in Passion Unleashed, but any lover of paranormal romance will have no problem completing this tale in one sitting. I certainly didn't!

This is the third book in the Demonica Series. This book is about Wraith who is poisoned and must find a Sentinel to stop the poison and save his life. What I found to be interesting in this book is the way Larissa Ione let us get to see another side of Wraith. He was totally not what I had envisioned from the first two books. It was a great story with action, adventure, sex, and mystery. By the end of the book I actually reveresed my idea about Wraith and really started to like him. We also were introduced to some more underworld characters which I found interesting. Good reading - good paranormal read. When is book 4??? I can't wait!

YES! YES! YES! Excuse me, I'm having a private moment ;) I finished "Passion Unleashed" by Larissa Ione and I must say that this is one series I'm so very glad I'm hooked on. Her Demonica novels take place in an intricately built world, with enough differences from the raft of paranormals available to distinguish themselves. The characters are NOT one-dimensional caricatures of one creature or another...oh no, Ione has a vast selection of characters with multi-layered personalities on top of the traits attributable to their species and these differences from the average urban fantasy or paranormal romance today are just a couple of the things that make her novels stand-outs, IMHO :)In "Passion Unleashed" we finally get the story of Wraith, a sex demon who's 'gotta have it'! So 'have it' he does...often and with vigor. He's the 'bad boy' of the three brothers we've read about so far and Ione certainly puts him to the test in his love story. Wraith has been infected with a poison that has no antidote. He's only got one chance to save his life...find the 'Chosen' virgin and 'deflower' her. Hey! He's a sex demon--no problem.Serena is one of the 'Chosen'--she holds a relic that would be pivotal in the event of Armageddon. This same relic is all that protects her from an incurable disease she contracted at a young age. So holding on to her virginity isn't really a choice...it's the only thing keeping her alive. Good thing Armageddon isn't on the calendar, huh? Ummm, hold that thought. There's a fallen Angel turned renegade and he's after Serena's relic. So the chase...I mean race, is on. Oh, just one more thing. The fallen Angel can TAKE the relic from Serena, but Wraith will have to seduce it from her. But really, sex demon, no problem, right?I don't mean to make this book sound like a light-heated paranormal romance, because it's not. Although there is much more humor in this story than the previous two, it's still a nail-biter of a suspense/action novel. And Ione doesn't let the action/suspense overcome the love aspect either. Both Wraith and Serena face life and death decisions that will affect not just themselves, but their friends, loved ones, and heck...the whole world! No pressure.Others have reviewed "Passion Unleashed" and gone into more detail so I won't take up your time with more words. What I will say is that if you like urban fantasy, spicy paranormal romance, action and suspense, drama, and hot supernatural creatures...RUN, don't walk, to your nearest bookstore and pick up this whole series.

When I first opened Pleasure Unbound (Book 1) last year, I instantly fell in love with Ione's fantasy world, her writing, and her characters-- especially E. Face it, when you start such a spectacular series like this, it's hard not to fall for the first hero you are introduced to. He'll stick in your mind for the rest of the series, towards the top of your list, even as you are introduced to more sexy alpha males. And even as much as I loved Shade's book, (review here), E's story was still fresh in my mind, too. I thought it would stay that way forever... ...And then I started Wraith's book, Passion Unleashed, and E, poor E, was the last guy on my mind! :D I love the bad guy appeal on a hero as much as the next person, but when we were first introduced to Wraith in book one, he was just a 'so-so' character. I think it was because we knew very little about him, and he seemed to (on the surface) not give a sh** about anyone else. But after reading even a few pages of his story, I was hooked-- I needed more Wraith. Wraith became my favorite of all the brothers, hands down. Not only because of his story, which was AMAZING, but also because of him, and the drastic change he makes in Passion Unleashed.Besides my complete obsession with Wraith, I also enjoyed this book because of the story line-- Ione keeps us on the edge of the seat until the very end. Will they be able to find a way to keep Wraith (and the other two brothers) alive before it's too late? Will they be able to stop the demons from taking over? Larissa Ione may not have as many books out as some of the other paranormal authors in the business, but the fan base that some authors accomplish after twenty years of books, I'm convinced that Ione can accomplish with only her Demonica series! Like all of her previous Demonica books, Passion Unleashed has everything-- touching romance, witty conversations, captivating story lines, full-blown paranormal themes (demons and vampires and werewolves, oh my!), and, of course, amazingly steamy love scenes. And be prepared for more than a few surprises along the way..... A new character comes into the story, and he'll play a big part in future books, I'm sure. ;) Really, what more do you need? Add in Wraith's interesting conversation and you have a picture perfect book. :)I keep pressing 'delete' while writing this review, but no matter how long I stare at the computer and try to rewrite it, I'll never be able to do Passion Unleashed the justice it deserves. I can't even beginning to explain all the little things that made me love this book like I did, it's simply too hard! All I can say is if you've been waiting for Wraith's story from book one, you won't be disappointed! Wraith's story is hot hot hot, but it's still got a solid romance between the hero and heroine, it's not just pure lust driven sex 24/7. After all, for Wraith to change his ways like he does, you know that she's got to mean a lot to him!5/5 STARS! Amazing, passionate... there are not enough good words in the world to describe it! But I will say this: if you thought that the Demonica series would end with Wraith, you're wrong. Like I said, a new hero comes into the story line in this book, and according to her website, she has another 2 books planned, though they won't be available until next year and the year after! ARRGH! There is no way I can survive the wait. Whatever will I do? Why, re-read Wraith's delicious story, of course!
