About this audiobook

Kat's mother is a medium, and not the kind that fits between small and large; she sees spirits and communicates with them.  And, even worse, Kat has just discovered that she can see spirits, too. Now it's up to Kat and her best friend, Jac, to help a spirit trapped in their school cross over successfully. The question is, can they do it without having to switch schools themselves?

This was a cute little fast read about Kat, a girl who inherits her mother's gift of seeing ghosts. She learns from her mother, that the most of the ghost don't want to scare her, they just want help. She takes her mother's advice and decides to help a ghostly girl in her school library, who seems to have some unfinished business.

An adorable, quick read with a spunky young heroine. A slight bit of creepiness, just right for younger readers. I ended up reading the entire series in a matter of days.

I was surprised at how much I enjoyed this book. Well written, but mostly just appealing characters helping each other through hard times.

A beautiful story about a young girl coming to terms with the fact that she will never be popular in high school...but that's ok, because she has a great friend and a wonderful mother who supports her. The writing was perfectly suited for the age level, and the dialog was realistic. A great read!

Kat's mom is so embarrassing. A lot of kids say this, but Kat's mom is worst than most. She's a medium. As in, she sees dead people. And she helps them or she helps the living who want to contact them. It's totally a drag - Kat can't ever bring anyone home after school... not that she has any friends to bring home anyway. But just when she thinks she may have finally found a friend at school, Kat's medium powers kick in and she's thrust into the mystery of a musical ghost that haunts her school library. The premise is good, the characters likeable, and I think I'll read more in this series, but this first book was a little too long and it dragged a little bit. Recommended for fans of mysteries and the supernatural.

Kat's mother can talk to spirits, and when Kat turns 13, she can suddenly see and commune with spirits as well. This causes her a bit of grief, as it is difficult to explain to her peers. Thankfully Kat meets a new friend, Jac, who accepts her as she is, and gives her strength to stand up to Shoshana and her nasty satellites. When a ghost appears to Kat at school, Kat knows the ghost is looking for some help. Kat eventually figures out a way to help Suzanne Bennis, the ghost, Jac and her cello teacher, Mrs. Whittencourt. When I read other reviews of this book, they said it was funny, but I didn't find it to be that humourous. The font size is large, making for a fast read. It was just okay. I wouldn't go around recommending it to readers.

Seventh grade is hard enough, but when you're already struggling to find your niche in the popular crowd, it certainly doesn't help for the cool kids to find out that your mom is a Medium. But the reality for Kat is that nothing escapes the eyes of Shoshanna, Brooklyn and their omnipresent "Satellite Girls," so she's just about ready to exile herself into the seventh circle of social ineptitude. But then she makes friends with the new "Cello Girl," Jac, so-called for dragging a less-than-trendy instrument through the halls every day. Kat and Jac's blossoming friendship is put to the test when Kat inherits her mother's spirit sight and, in need of someone to confide in who isn't her mother, she tells her best and only friend. Kat has a secret, too, and as these girls battle to find their niche and get past some not-so-average teen issues, they find that together they can help a young ghost who has been trapped in the school for a very long time - and maybe this ghost has something to offer the girls as well. Suddenly Supernatural is a sweet coming-of age tale that, while wrapped in social cliches and soon-to-be passe pop culture references, will surely intrigue plenty of middle school girls. Kat and Jac may lack some of the depth that can be found in other young adult favorites, but their cute, spooky story doesn't need much more than these two girls who, ultimately, learn to love themselves for who they are. The book sets up for a sequel, and I am certainly curious as to the hijinx and horror that these girls might get themselves into in future volumes.
