About this audiobook

Setting itself apart from other translations by sacrificing neither accuracy nor readability, the ESV is an essentially literal translation that seeks to duplicate the original texts while taking into account the differences between modern English and the original languages. Relying on the work of more than fifty Bible scholars, the translation committee realized its goals of word-for-word precision and accuracy, literary excellence and readability, and depth of meaning.Written in language beautiful enough to be used for public reading, clear enough for preaching and devotions, and trustworthy enough for academic study, the ESV sets a new standard-and is truly a Bible for all people.

Contents should be actual chapters of the bible
This structure makes it hard to follow

The content is good. But the narration is terrible. The reader sounds mean and angry most of the time. It’s like listening to a book about Mordor instead of Jesus. The words can be the same yet read differently. Every time he quotes Jesus I feel like Saruman is talking to me about joining Sauron instead of a loving being teaching lessons (even if they’re hard lessons) which is why the Bible can feel cold to begin with. We need nicer, gentler approaches. Jesus was kind. Even when frustrated. The show The Chosen has done a beautiful job illustrating Jesus. There is no reason to act powerful and mean, that was the whole point of Jesus coming to earth. It can definitely improve. It distracted me and makes me not want to listen. I feel like He’s going to punish me for something I haven’t even done.

Very beautifully and expressively read. if you've never listened to the New Testament straight through, I highly recommend it. Before each book, a helpful summary and background is given to help the listener understand the context.

Impressive, passionate but not over the top. Great audio version. Best I’ve heard and I’ve heard a few!

Fantastic production quality, including the book introductions. The narration brings new shades of meaning, context and clarity to the scriptures — like reading it for the first time.
