      Excellent series continues with even more questions, suspects, murder and mayhem! Never EVER have I enjoyed a series quite so much! Oops! Not true (I may be a liar, but I am not a pretty one….?). Actually, I should say that not since listening to the YOU series by Carolyn Kepnes have I enjoyed a series so much….☺️.

      The way Shepard set up every single one of the PLLs to take the fall -- that took some major skill. Keeping track of all the details and setting up the falls -- mastery.

      Synopsis: After the girls are rescued from the barn fire, they're sure they've seen Ali, but is anyone going to believe them? Chalking their sighting up to smoke inhalation, those in charge dismiss their claims before starting to turn against them. Are the girls just looking for attention with all their wild claims?But their (somewhat) new found notoriety isn't all the girls have to deal with: A's still around. Sending Emily on an expedition, even. Meanwhile Aria's looking to seances, along with a unique new friend from school, for answers about Allison, Hanna's sent to a 'facility' to 'recover from her trauma,' and Spencer finds out more about her birth.Once again drama ensues, secrets are kept, and some truths are revealed in this penultimate instalment of the Pretty Little Liars series.Review: I think of this as PLL's 'Lost' equivalent. Just about everything from the past few books got taken back or undone in some ways (someone was mistaken, that person didn't mean it, this person saw things wrong in that book, etc). Basically nothing is what you thought it was going into the book and more than once you get left with a 'huh?' feeling.I don't know if this was because Sara Shepard wanted to do things differently,if she had remorse over how things had been written in the previous books (especially the fifth and sixth) or if it was really planned to take everything that had been established over several books and undo it.Once I got used to nothing really being what it seemed and events in this novel not exactly building on those of the previous novels, I did enjoy it, however.       This chapter in the series was probably the hardest one for me to get through for one main reason; the girls suddenly decide that A, the person who has been messing with them since book 1, teasing them, ruining their lives, they decide she's trying to help them. By sending Hanna to a psychiatric hospital, Emily to Amish country, Aria to a psychic and Spencer thinking her mother killed Ali; they all decide that apparently this is helpful and are surprised when, at the end, it is revealed that A was messing with them. Really? The person whose been messing with you since day 1 is still messing with you? Imagine that.The suspense is really well written; and its what keeps me reading through plot issues like what I mentioned above. I am growing tired of Hanna's constant quest to be the most popular and beautiful, and she manages to find bitchy friends wherever she goes; even the mental hospital. Emily going to Amish country was just weird and screamed of a desperate author trying to figure out what to do with one of the characters. I have the eighth book ready to go, but I know there are two more to come out this year and I'm worried that the story is already stretched thin as it is with eight; if the next two are installment in the story, and not say flashes to the future of how the girls are post everything A; I'm not sure it'll be worth the payoff.

      I was so excited to read Heartless after the last six books in this series, but I was also sad that it was almost coming to an end and soon the mystery would be over. After reading the six books before this I am still surprised by almost everything that happens and nothing is what I expect.

      Heartless is the penultimate installment in the Pretty Little Liars series of 8 books. This book was very exciting and pulled me in so many different directions. I was questioning all I have learned from the series so far. Evil “A” has upped the ante and has the four girls from Rosewood wrapped around her finger.Aria, Emily, Hanna and Spencer are now the laughing stocks of Rosewood and have been dubbed “The Pretty Little Liars” due to their unsubstantiated stories. The police no longer believe them, and the girls are more driven than ever to solve the mysteries and clear their name.The new and even more devious “A” has sent the girls on a wild goose chase in all different directions hunting clues. Emily gets sent to an Amish settlement to follow a lead that fingers one of the persons under suspicion in Rosewood. Aria follows a spiritual path and tries again with a seance. Hanna gets sent to an institute by her father who wants her to try therapy to deal with her eating disorder and stress. And Spencer finds plenty of suspicious activity and clues a little closer to home.I had thought with the next to the last book we would be closer to solving this thing. I was so confused with this book! I thought Emily could be on the right path with her adventure. There may be enough clues at this point to solve the crime if you really dig deep. I don’t think I have it right at this point. Another shocking cliffhanger will have you ready for the final installment in the series: Wanted.

      I have read the first 7 books of the series and this one is proabably my second favorite. The whole series is filled with suspense and mystery. It's interesting to read about the girl's scandals and how "A" threatens them.

      In this one, each girl receives different clues from New A about who Alison's murderer might be and, as a result, each goes on a different journey (in a couple of cases, literally). There isn't as much interaction between Hanna, Spencer, Aria and Emily in this book, and I prefer it when they do have scenes together (as it were).I'm very sad there's only one book left, but I'm very excited to see what twists are ahead. And I'm wondering if everything gets revealed.Also, Sara Shepard has a new book series starting in December. I don't know how much I'll like reading it in "real time." because I liked reading these books in a row.

      I was so excited when this book came in the mail. I have been waiting for months to read it and it is finally here! YAY! Still really excited about it. This book started where the last book ended, in the fire. The girls swear that they seen Ali in the fire but no one will believe them. In the last book Spencer had met with the woman who she thought was her adoptive mom only to have her take all of her savings. But then, at the beginning of this book, Spencer's parents tell her that the woman who took her money was her mom, sort of. And Spencer might have ended her parents marriage at the end of the book, all because of A. Hanna is sent away to a mental hospital. All because of a note that A sent to Hanna's dad. She meets Iris in there and Iris might be holding a very big secret. Hanna thinks that she knows who killed Ali. Emily is sent away to live with an Amish family for a few days. A tell hers that she has to go. While there Emily finds some big news about Officer Wilden. And Aria gets close with Noel. Aria thinks that psychics can contact Ali for her so that she can find out who killed her. But at the end of the book all of the girls think they know what happened to Ali. But when they are all arrested at the end they all have different stories. This book was great. After not reading the series for a while I thought I might have a hard time getting back into the books, but I didn't. I can not wait until the 8th book this summer.

      The four Pretty Little Liars are back for the seventh book of the series, Heartless. Aria, Hannah, Emily and Spencer swear they saw Ali alive when the woods caught fire. But the rest of the town, including the police, are getting tired of these girls and their accounts of what happened to Ali.[Minor spoilers here - read with caution.] As the girls try to save face, A continues to send them texts about Ali’s disappearance. Emily travels to an Amish community where she learns about a past life someone close to her is trying to hide; Hannah’s father sends her to psychiatric facility as he thinks she’s suffering from PTSD. There she meets someone who may have known Ali. Spencer learns the secrets her parents have been hiding that may destroy their family. And Aria steals evidence from the woods that could assist the police. But when a suspect is arrested for not only Ali’s murder, but the murder of someone else (which I didn’t see coming), the girls begin to wonder if the new A is really trying to help them or torture them.Like the novels before it, Heartless begins with a flashback of the summer Ali went missing. Ali’s mother realizes she isn’t home from the sleepover and asks Emily, Hannah and Aria over to ask them questions about Ali. It’s this scene that the girls will often think about when they search for more clues about Ali’s disappearance.Heartless ends with a murder and an arrest and of course a cliff hanger from A. I’m filled with more questions about what really happened to Ali that night: Is she really dead? If not, then whose body was found in the hole of the gazebo Ali’s parents were building? And most importantly, who is A? I guess I’ll have to wait to June when Wanted, the eighth and final book, is released. I have to admit, as excited as I am to read this book and learn how the series ends, it will definitely be bittersweet.
