About this audiobook

Best friends Lexi Laney and Clare Hart shared idyllic girlish adventures all over Nantucket Island, spending much of their time at their secret hideaway, Moon Shell Beach, a magical place where they remade the world. But when Lexi eloped to a life of luxery at age nineteen, she left behind a broken friendship with Clare and resentment from nearly everyone else. Now Lexi has returned to Nantucket after eleven years and a bitter divorce. Clare, a chocolatier living at home with her widowed father and dating a gorgeous carpenter, finds forgiving and forgetting more difficult than she ever imagined. In the less innocent world of adult men and women, awash in failed loves and romantic disappointment, the estranged soul mates struggle to recapture the feelings of bliss that came so easily to them as children.

As an emotional tempest sweeps the vibrant, tight-knit island community, Nancy Thayer's irresistible and deeply moving novel deftly explores the evolution of a lifelong friendship, the power of forgiveness, and the rewards of believing in miracles.

This is a delightful story! Childhood friends grow up and go into seperate lives but find their way back home and each other. The story takes place at Nantucket. This is chick lit and I thought it would have a predictable end,and to some point it did but there were surprises.I read it in 3 nights.
Lovely summer read, lovely beach read. On my jacket cover, Luanne Rice had stated after reading this she wanted to walk the beach with her best firend. I had that same feeling!Nice, warm, loving story.
    Very enjoyable!

Have read all her books - awesome author! Nancy Thayer delighted readers with her sparkling Hot Flash Club series. Now she has written a vibrant new novel set within a tight-knit island community, where two women struggle to rekindle a childhood friendship damaged by harsh words, betrayal, and the passing years. Lexi Laney and Clare Hart grew up together swimming in the surf, riding remote bike trails, and having wondrous adventures across picturesque Nantucket. And when it was time to share intimate secrets and let their girlish imaginations run free, they escaped to their magical private hideaway: Moon Shell Beach.

Lexi Laney and Clare Hart grew up together and lived an idyllic life in picturesque Nantucket. As children, they were forever sharing wondrous adventures and spending time together as best friends. And when it was time to share intimate secrets and let their imaginations run free, they escaped to their own private hideaway: Moon Shell Beach. But nothing ever stays the same. Once the complicated pressures of adulthood encroach, their intense bond of friendship becomes frayed, hurtful words are exchanged, and Lexi flees Nantucket for a life of luxury while Clare stays behind. A decade later, a newly divorced Lexi returns to make amends with those she left in her wake - particularly Clare, who still simmers with resentment toward her friend. Their emotional reunion is beset with challenges, as Lexi's return sets off a series of startling events. And as Clare's life takes an abrupt detour, Lexi wonders if the happiness and peace they once knew on Moon Shell Beach will, in the end, prove to be as fleeting as time and the tide.I wish that I can say that I thoroughly enjoyed this book from beginning to end. For the most part, it was very enjoyable, and I think Nancy Thayer is a wonderful writer. However, in my opinion, the plot began to derail slightly towards the end. The book certainly started off very strongly, but certain plot twists just didn't seem all that plausible to me. As a result, I had to give Moon Shell Beach: A Novel by Nancy Thayer an A! I'm very glad to have read this book, and will certainly read more from this author in the future. However, I think that I will hold off on that for a short while.

A delightfully refreshing zephyr of a book -- appealing and lush, satisfying, cozy.

What a lovely book. The writing is very simple, but moving. It's the story of Clare and Lexi, childhood friends who become estranged when Lexi leaves Nantucket. They reunite when Lexi returns to Nantucket years later.

Light, pleasant reading. Clare and Lexi were childhood friends on the island of Nantucket. The story follows their early years and young adulthood when each make choices that result in some regrets but ultimately happiness. This is a great book to read in the summer; it's like a vacation to Nantucket.

Easy read. Good for an afternoon. Pleasant. Nantucket makes a lovely background, just as in real life.
