This series has it all, adventure, mythology, history, geography, rivalry between friends and foes. Keeps me entertained!

Yeah... I've officially lost interest in this series. There are way, way too many characters, dangling plot lines, and questionable decisions made by the characters, especially Josh. What the heck is wrong with that kid? I don't think I'll be reading the rest of the series.

This is the fourth book in the series, The Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel. After the events of the first 3 books, Sophie, Josh and the Flamels arrive back in San Francisco hoping to get back to a regular routine. However, the twins have barely been home for a half hour before trouble shows up on their doorstep and they are pulled back into the world of elders and immortals, wondering who they should trust, and which side really is the right side.

This is a young adult series, so it is a fairly easy read. Along the way you meet many characters, many of whom are historical figures such as Billy the Kid, Machiavelli, and Joan of Arc. This is one of the reasons I like the series, I like the historical aspect that is brought. As I read, I find myself wanting to find out more about these figures. I would recommend this book to anyone looking for an easy read that is entertaining. However, it is important to know that this in not a stand-alone book. Everything is better understood if you've read the other books first.

This is the fourth book in Michael Scott's "Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel" series. I continued to love these books. In this book, the Flamels, Sophie and Josh return to San Francisco. Scatty and Joan are still missing. Everybody is still planning for a big battle. These books are quick paced and hard to put down once you start reading them. Now that I've caught up on these books, I guess I have to wait for the next one to come out in May. At least I shouldn't have any problems coming up with something to read between now and then.

This was better than the third book in the series but mostly I've continued to read them because they are compelling rather than well written.

This is part of a series that I had the teens submitting reviews for on the book blog a long time ago, so I pretty much knew what was coming this volume. Still sad. I'm loving all of the historical characters and I can't wait to get to the end.

The series of "The Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel" continues in style! I enjoyed this book as much as its predecessors, which is to say that I had a hard time putting it down. The author has great imagination and brings together ideas from multiple mythologies to form the often complex and enigmatic characters that populate the pages of this series.

The only thing I don't like is that the next book isn't on the market yet, so the plot is suspended on the brink of two major conflicts, and have to wait a few months yet for the next book to be available...

Excellent book based on different mythological and historical figures. I really enjoy the series. Each book leaves the reader wanting more. Teachers can incorporate a research project based on story characters.

Dr. John Dee, you are deliciously evil. Josh Newman, you have got to be my favorite "Omg, why are you so dumb?" character ever. Ever.

Good thing for Dee that the elders seem clueless about parts of human nature. Bad thing for Josh that he is a gullible a twit as ever. I want to listen to Josh eating a pile of crow before this series ends. Nice use of flashbacks for backstories and historical persons/gods for characters, as usual. I'm a woman, so I have no problem with wives/sisters being more powerful/sensible than husbands/brothers more often than not. Thank you, Mr. Scott.

Ugh. I wish Josh's character weren't so predictable and had more nuance. His actions near the end of this book were annoying in the sense that the character is an annoying person, but in that the writer is just...clichéd. Also, the brief respite the twins attempted at their aunt's house was entirely pointless.

The Necromancer The story begins with Sophie and Josh Newman going to their Aunt Agnes’s house. They were worried what their aunt would think since they had been gone for six days straight without calling. They wondered if the right thing to do was to tell her the truth of what happened the day they left. They said they would tell her all about them learning about the gods, and getting a secret crest that gave them power. When Sophie and Josh got to their aunt’s house they noticed a limousine and ran into their aunt’s house. When they got there, they were ready to fight but the limousine was there for them. The guests from the limo were vampires they were there to warn the twins Josh and Sophie about the dark elders going after them. Then the vampires took Sophie and put her on a houseboat. Josh soon alerted the Flamels the holders of the codex to help him find his sister. The Flamels knew that Sophie had been kidnapped but they knew it would help because the good people kidnapped her. Josh soon sought for help from Prometheus and Mars.Little did Josh know they were the dark elders. Once he knew that the Flamels had his sister. He began to think they were the bad people when they were trying to warn Josh. The Flamels had the power to take over peoples mind or talk to them using voices in that person’s head, so they tried this to help Josh, but it did not work. The dark elders offered Josh the ability to be a Necromancer or be able to bring back the dead. The dark elders real plan was to feed them to a being that looked like medusa. Once she fed on his power, she would not bother the human world anymore. Though she was the most hideous monster, he thought she was beautiful because the dark elders put a spell on him. Then right before Josh was devoured his sister, Sophie came in and whipped the monster but Josh did not know why because the monster was beautiful to him. The battle was ended when a Japanese immortal jumped off a roof with the monster to ensure of its death. The monster dying made Josh think his sister had went bad with the Flamels so he went and joined sides with the dark elders. This book is the most interesting book I have ever read. The book has a diverse range of characters from Shakespeare to Oden. I give the book five out of five stars. The book has a lot of action, which is ideal in my choice of books. The book has very diverse word choice that creates vivid images in my mind. I would recommend this book to my friends because I know that most of the love mythology. In conclusion the Necromancer is a very well written book and is action-packed.

Although this book doesn't have the overpowering rooting for the main characters that Harry Potter has (in my opinion, that is one of the best parts of the Potter series), the weaving of myths together from different cultures and areas of the world within a racing plot makes this series one I really enjoy.

This 4th book of the Flamel series picks up immediately after book 3 with the twins arrival in San Francisco and the official introduction of Aunt Agnes.Sophie and Josh are at odds as to who they should support Dr. Dee or the Flamels. We are also introduced to a few new immortals - Aoife (Scathatch's twin sister), Billy the Kid, Prometheus, Virginia Dare, and Niten. The immortals are having their own problems - Scatty and Joan are trapped in a pre-historic shadow Realm, Saint Germaine, Palamades, and Shakespeare are running from the Dark Elders while trying to free Joan and Scatty, and Dee and Machiavelli are in deep trouble with the bosses because they haven't gotten the twins. So since all immortals are looking after themselves, who is there to keep Josh and Sophie safe? This book supplies a great deal of background for the mythological creatures/immortals and their masters, the Elders. The tension builds as the life in the Flamels begins to drain to desperate levels and the twins are put at odds.

Sophie and Josh Newman have both had their powers awaken and Josh has just been trained in the magic of fire. John Dee is trying hard to capture the twins and the Flamels but with no success. He is now an outlaw among the Dark Elders. Josh and Sophie are starting to disagree with each other. Sophie wants to save the world and help the Flamels. Josh on the other hand doesn't trust the Flamels and trusts Dee, the bad guy. At the end of the book, Josh raises Coatlicue, the first vampire and the deadliest. Sophie tries to bring Josh back with her, but Josh deliberately turns away and walks with Dee. The answer to the question that has been asked throughout the first three books are now clear. Sophie will try and save the world, Josh will bring destruction upon it.This book was very tense. I did not want to put this book down. I was eager to see what would happen between the twins. Although I kind of knew it was coming, I was still surprised the Josh would leave Sophie like he did. Sophie and Josh did everything together and now Josh left Sophie. I was shocked and mad. I could not imagine my sister leaving me like that. I would be heartbroken also. This book is for people who believe in mythical creatures and legends.

This is the fourth book of Michael Scott's series "The secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel". As with the first three books, the Necromancer is fast-paced and filled with a variety of different story-lines and even more famous historical immortals are introduced to the reader. Continues the story of Sophie and Josh and their journey of saving the world from the Dark Elders, though now there is friction between the twins, and their belief in the Flamels. 4 out of 5 stars.

This was an interesting book because it gave the villan, John Dee, a lot of power that he didn't have in the first three books. particularly the persuasion he is able to use to convince Josh to do the thimgs he does. Also, this book feels like it shows the Flamels in a bad light. It is a great book and I would defimitely reccommend it to someone who enjoyed the first three books.

Josh and sophie are finally home but it's not possible to go back when they've accumulated so much power. They're not sure who to trust any more and they're being pulled apart by the forces wanting their power and them. It's not bad but in some ways it's turning into the collect tokens and get power to defeat the big boss at the end. Though Michael Scott does pull unusual characters and situations out to keep me going. Still there were moments that dragged for me in this story.

The whole series, thus far, has been an exciting read. The events are fast paced and keeps the reader's attention from cover to cover. I am sure to have my computer on while reading so I can look up the numerous historical and mythical characters that Scott has managed to weave into the story. Being from Hawaii, I was super excited to see that both Maui and Pele were mentioned. Looking forward to finishing the series!

The ongoing adventures of Josh and Sophie Newman along with a cast of immortal friends and enemies is the subject of the fourth novel in the series The Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel. The themes and plotlines of previous books are continued in this installment, although Josh's doubts about the Flamels and their motives become a bit tiresome. However, I still found The Necromancer to be an excellent read and I eagerly await the next in this series.

The Necromancer is a great book and very cleverly uses unexplained moments in history to it's advantage. It has a very interesting plot and is based on one of the world of olds greatest mystery's in it's plot. This the third book in the series and upon reading it you are hurled straight into the storyline so reading it feels like your'e actually there.

Continues the story of Sophie and Josh and their journey of saving the world from the Dark Elders. I liked the new character, Virginia Dare, though I don't think the book fully explained her yet. Dee is better than ever and I enjoyed that St. Germaine was more featured. Also liked the new character Aofie.

I love how it combines myth, magic, and modern life. The idea of historical characters becoming immortal is cool and I will definitely read the entire series. Not crazy about the writing style, but the characters and plot make up for it.
