About this audiobook

New York Times bestselling author Jude Deveraux will capture your heart with signature classic novel, a time travel romance featuring a present-day heroine and a dashing hero from the sixteenth century!

Abandoned by a cruel fate, lovely Dougless Montgomery lies weeping upon a cold tombstone in an English church. Suddenly, the most extraordinary man appears. It is Nicholas Stafford, Earl of Thornwyck…and according to his tombstone he died in 1564.

Drawn to his side by a bond so sudden and compelling it overshadows reason, Dougless knows that Nicholas is nothing less than a miracle: a man who does not seek to change her, who finds her perfect, fascinating, just as she is. What Dougless never imagined was how strong the chains are that tie them to the past…or the grand adventure that lay before them.

Hailed worldwide as one of the most romantic novels of all time, A Knight in Shining Armor is “a glorious love story that spans centuries, worlds, and souls. It is the epitome of every woman’s fantasy” (Daily Herald, Chicago).

I'm sorry, everyone I talk to says they really liked this book but I honestly just can't get past the weakness and stupidity of the main female character. She just really turned me off from the entire book. Just couldn't do it.

This was one of the worst books!!!!! Not sure how it was rated so high. Unfortunately I have to always finish a book. In this case I wish I didn’t. The main character was so pathetic!!!! Seriously how can you be so dumb with men. If you like a weak women who has no self respect this is your book. I can’t even believe I wasted my time with this!!!

Coming from reading outlander series, this one was meh. The storyline lacked somewhat in passion for me. But it wasn't a horrible story at the end. Although it felt incomplete.

I enjoyed this book immensely. I love the fact that it’s an endless love. It doesn’t matter whether it’s from the future or the past. If you’re meant to be with that person, it will happen. I know it sounds pretty lame but I love these kind of stories.

This book was well written and I invested in the characters. It was probably that investment that made it difficult for me to accept the ending, BUT it was a fitting ending and, part of which, readers probably had grown to suspect. This book is a romance, and not meant to be or used as a 100% accurate representation of the time period, however it is clear Jude did their research and which a medieval history buff like me loves.

Unfortunately, this history buff is also a hopeless romantic and I'm not sure I'm ready to let the characters go yet! Can we have a sequel Jude, please?

Also, Jude, I have questions about why the female character did not do something in the last three chapters, but don't want to spoil the story for others! Maybe that's something that can be tackled in a sequel? (Insert cheeky winky face here)

I don't know why this book has such high ratings. The main character is so weak- she cries so often it's annoying. Her first reaction for any struggle is to cry. I don't mind a character crying every so often but this is excessive.

I had read this as a teenager and loved it back then but I decided to listen to it now some 20 years later and… well it didn’t hit the same. It wasn’t just that I grew up but the relationship at times is manipulative, abusive, and problematic. The guy basically admits it turns him on that women tell him “no” for sex and he never takes no for an answer. And the woman is just soooo…. Flimsy. She acts like she has no strength without a man, and she lets herself get walked all over in the name of “love.”

You can definitely tell this was written in the 1980s because this kind of relationship wouldn’t fly these days in terms of seeming romantic. It’s just toxic.

I will say that it did make me want to seek out more time travel books though. That was the positive aspect of the book.

So slow with the starting 4 long chapters about how bad the wrong guy treats her. Before the main lead guy comes in. Was so down and board by the time she meets the knight i couldn't keep listening.

Excellent! This was definitely not my normal genre, but what a nice surprise when it grabbed me and I just couldn’t put it down. The details are so intricately woven into the story which creates a fascinating read! Loved this book!

Ok. I have read this book before and this is my second read.
I was tempted to rate it a 3 star because I didn’t remember how it ended and it dragged and dragged so I felt like tearing my hair out smh. But I absolutely loved the beginning and middle. I do feel it could have been about 3-4 chapters shorter but it’s all good.
At least he wasn’t named Nicholas smh. The end was very bland and lukewarm but all in all a good book.

I don’t know if I have a favorite part of this book. I enjoyed it, the love story was beautiful but left me sad, I was happy for Douglas with how it ended for her sake but not for mine.

I enjoyed this book as other reviews have said the first few chapters are painful as the main character seems weak in her relationship however, press on as it is worth the read!
