About this audiobook

Embrace the Lord's Pattern for Prayer

God longs for us to spend time with Him. Yet while His invitation is extravagant, too often we struggle to spend even brief moments with our Heavenly Father. For some, action has replaced prayer. For others, requests can take priority over relationship, as we try to mold God to our desires. How did the simple act of prayer become so complicated?
Renowned pastor and author John MacArthur invites you to experience the art of prayer. Here John turns to our greatest spiritual mentor, Jesus Christ, as he takes an intimate, in-depth look at the Lord's Prayer. Filled with fresh insights and practical tools for growth, Alone with God will help you rediscover the power and passion found in time spent with God.
Alone with God includes a guide for both personal and group study, which features discovery questions, suggestions for prayer, and activities, all designed to connect life-changing truths with everyday living.

Thoughts that are rarely spoken, but very needed in our times.

Probably one of MacArthur's shorter books I've read. I've been reading a few books on prayer recently and this one covers some things others tend to do and covers some things others don't. It seems that all prayer books focuses a lot of attention on the Lord's prayer, which is understandable. However, what few cover is the mechanics and some of the deeper questions like what does prayer actually do. MacArthur covers a few of these points (which definitely shows his Calvinism). So in that sense, he covers more of the "difficult" questions but not as intense as I'd like. The book has an Scripture to back up what it is claiming, like any good MacArthur book. Some of his preacher quote picks were a bit off at times and long winded at others. This is one of the better books on prayer I've read in some time that doesn't just go over one to three prayers covered in the Bible. However, I still haven't found a book on the subject that really tackles it fully. Final Grade - B

This was an inspiring listen, I found for greater impact I had to read in parallel as it is packed with so many spiritual gems and nuggets. My prayer (devotions) life has really been impacted by this book.
