About this audiobook

How to Retire Happy, Wild, and Free offers inspirational advice on how to enjoy life to its fullest. The key to achieving an active and satisfying retirement involves a great deal more than having adequate financial resources; it also encompasses all other aspects of life—interesting leisure activities, creative pursuits, physical well-being, mental well-being, and solid social support.

World-class author and innovator Ernie J. Zelinski guides you to:

• Gain courage to take early retirement; in fact, the earlier the better.
• Put money in proper perspective so that you don't need a million dollars to retire.
• Generate purpose in your retirement life with meaningful creative pursuits.
• Follow your dreams instead of someone else's.
• Take charge of your mental, physical, and spiritual health.
• Better envision you retirement goals—including where you want to live.
• Above all, make you retirement years the best time of your life.

What sets this retirement audiobook apart from all the others is its holistic approach to the fears, hopes, and dreams that people have about retirement.

There are many ingredients of a happy retirement and several retirement planning tools that help retirees plan for their retirement in new and more meaningful ways. One of the most powerful tools is The Get-a-Life Tree that you won't find in any other retirement books.

In short, the retirement wisdom in this audiobook will prove to be much more important than how much money you have saved.

If you're still unsure of what you want to do when you grow up, then read this book ASAP!

It's not a technical book, but a book that gets you excited about retiring. It helps you realize that there's a lot more to life than just work and makes you think about what's best for you in the next chapter of your life. Your identity should not be tied to your job in the workplace.
This book is designed to change your perspective of what's most important in life.
If you need a book about the financial technicalities to retirement, this is not your book.

90% of the content is hodgepodge of nauseating amount of quotes from others, which includes tombstones and “anonymous wise person”s.

Got into about an hour of it and had to shut it down. Take any retirement advice that you ever heard - budgeting, net worth, taking advantage of 401(k) plans, etc. and it’s all regurgitated in a monotone basic level. If you’ve never read anything about retirement, this may be helpful. If you are on your way to retirement and looking to fine turn, look elsewhere.

What this book says is that one must also be emotionally prepared to retire -- and not just financially ready. Some of the lessons here you may find quite instructive so that your retirement will not just be an interminable wait to tip over and die.

This is a 229-page repetitive word salad of mostly obvious aspects of retirement: that you might consider beginning it earlier than later; that you can (and should) pursue myriad interests; that you might want to relocate; that you should optimize your health and relationships. It does not touch on financial-planning aspects. The only memorable take-away is his “Get-a-Life Tree” -- a template for creating a visual mind-map of one’s interests.

I was expecting more from this. The information is mostly interesting but the writing is treacle like and was sending me off to sleep. Best chapter is the planning activities one. Bit disappointing.

Great read on preparing to retire. Informative, easy to read and entertaining. I loved the listing of hobbies for retirees.
