About this audiobook

The Women's Club prides itself on the success of its annual White Elephant Sale, but this year's sale is marred by a bizarre turn. A blackmailer coerces five of the town's citizens into donating valuable artifacts. When a volunteer fails to show up on time, Henny Brawley drives off to find the missing woman, just as a powerful squall hits the island. Hours later, a worried Annie Darling goes off in search of Henny, only to find the corpse of the missing volunteer. The victim turns out to be the blackmailer, and the police chief suspects Henny of the murder. Convinced of Henny's innocence, Annie and her husband, Max, set off to determine who has a secret they would go to any length to protect.

I do not think there is a mystery author or series author Carolyn Hart and book store owner Annie Darling are not intimately familiar with. Just learning about those was interesting as each was used to fill in details about this book's murder mystery. This book took me a while to read as you can not rush through the twists and turns in this plot. There are SO MANY details for the reader to pay attention to. A good story but do not pick this up as a quick read.To get the most out of it you must dedicate time and brain power

This series is fun for mystery readers due to all the references to classic and modern writers but this particular episode had a really annoying character taking centre stage and a few too many clunky plot devices. Only ever meant to be a light read I know, but this one was not as much fun as usual.
