About this audiobook
Wall Street Journal bestselling author Melinda Leigh returns with a follow-up thriller that USA Today called “an impeccable, unpredictable package of suspense, mystery, romance, and passion.”
One by one, people are mysteriously disappearing from a small Maine town. Four months ago, a ruthless murderer killed two people and kidnapped three more, including Danny Sullivan’s sister, who barely escaped. Unfortunately so did the killer, vanishing without a trace into the vast wilderness. When the police fail to find his sister's captor, Danny returns to Maine to hunt him down.
He begins his search with another survivor, bed and breakfast owner Mandy Brown, but her refusal to cooperate raises Danny’s suspicions. What is the beautiful innkeeper hiding?
Mandy Brown has a secret. But sexy Danny Sullivan, his relentless questions, and the feelings that grow between them threaten to expose the truth. A revelation that puts her family in danger. As more people disappear, it becomes clear the killer is planning another ritual…and that he’s circling in on Mandy.

Wall Street Journal bestselling author Melinda Leigh is a fully recovered banker. A lifelong lover of books, she started writing as a way to preserve her sanity when her youngest child entered first grade. During the next few years, she joined Romance Writers of America, learned a few things about writing a book, and decided the process was way more fun than analyzing financial statements. Melinda’s debut novel, She Can Run, was nominated for Best First Novel by the International Thriller Writers. Melinda’s bestselling books have garnered three Daphne du Maurier Award nominations and a Golden Leaf Award. When she isn’t writing, she is an avid martial artist: she holds a second-degree black belt in Kenpo karate and teaches women’s self-defense. - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I just really love all of her books! All of them!
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5This book returns to the setting of the first book in the series but this time focusing on the owner of the local B&B, Mandy, and the brother of the victim of the first book, Danny Sullivan. We also have the same villain, who escaped justice at the end of the first book. Danny has come looking for said villain and hopes that Mandy can help him. Of course hormones get in the mix as well as a group of missing persons.I really liked this book. The characters were well defined and I felt that their motivations were believable. You have to be able to accept that the villain is a "Druid" planning a ritual sacrifice, but if that is not a stumbling point you should enjoy the story. There is some spicy sex but it is not too much and it is nice that the don't actually have sex until late in the book. That makes it more believable, even though they are craving each other from the start. There is some nice action and despite the crazy man in the woods, the descriptions sort of made me want to go to Maine. So I am looking forward to the next book in the series.
