About this audiobook

Something sinuous in the water brushed against Paige’s knee. She jerked her leg away. What was that? She rose to a sitting position, groped around with her left hand. Fine wisps wound themselves around her fingers. Hair? She yanked backward, but the tendrils clung. Something solid bumped her wrist. Paige gasped. With one frantic motion she shook her arm free, grabbed the side of the hot tub, and heaved herself out.Paige Williams slips into her hot tub in the blackness of night—and finds herself face to face with death.Alone, terrified, fleeing a dark past, Paige must make an unthinkable choice. In Violet Dawn, hurtling events and richly drawn characters collide in a breathless story of murder, the need to belong, and faith’s first glimmer. One woman’s secrets unleash an entire town’s pursuit, and the truth proves as elusive as the killer in their midst.

This story follows Paige who is new to town and doesnt know really how to connect with people. There is a secret in her past she wishes to stay hidden but it seems that God hates her. For one night she finds a dead body in her jacuzzi and in an effort to remain hidden and be able to continue her current life she removes the body and hides it. However with some very helpful anonymous tips the police keep finding their investigation to lead to her. So we follow her through this crisis to watch her face down some old demons.

The story is decently written with some very good twists and turns. The character development is good and although there were some events that I thought could have been elaborated on. The chapter change usually means a change of perspective to another character. Where this usually easy to follow what I didnt like was that there was one perspective throughout that was on a different time clock than the rest of the storyline. This made it quite confusing for me to follow and is my complaint about the book. All the other perspectives added to the story as a progression. However this out of synced one made it confusing to understand why it as placed where it was. In the end the details fit in with the plot but I think it could have been handled through the line better. All in all a good page turner that kept you guessing and anxiously awaiting the next twist.

Brandilyn Collins' books are riveting. The Kanner Lake Series was wonderful and suspenseful! Loved all four books in the series!

You know you are in for a fast moving suspense novel when the opening scene has a woman slipping into her hot tub for a late night soak--and discovering a dead body. The woman is Paige--a new resident of the Kanner Lake community, and someone with a lot of past secrets that she wants to keep hidden. The body is Edna San--a semi-celebrity and Kanner Lake's most famous resident.I like books that suck you in right from the beginning, and the opening scene of this one did just that.
