About this audiobook
Janet Evanovich and Lee Goldberg have teamed up for a dynamic new series featuring an FBI agent who's on the hunt-and a master con artist who's enjoying the chase. The con is on in this audiobook short story that's a triumphant prequel to The Heist.
FBI special agent Kate O'Hare has made it her mission to nail international con artist Nicolas Fox. When she discovers his plot to plunder a venture capitalist's twentieth-story Chicago penthouse of all its cash and treasures while the self-proclaimed "King of Hostile Takeovers" is getting married, Kate is 85 percent-okay maybe 92 percent-sure that she's finally going to bag Nick Fox.
Problem is, first Kate has to convince her boss, building security, and maybe even herself, that wedding planner Merrill Stubing is actually Nicolas Fox. Second, she has to figure out how to corner and capture him without disrupting the event of the year. And third, what's going to happen once O'Hare finally gets her hands on Fox? It's going take a pro to catch a con before the fireworks over Lake Michigan go off.

- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5This is a short story and easily read in one short sitting. I love reading the Stephanie Plum series, and the Lizzy and Diesel series by Janet Evanovich. Unfortunately, when the author teems up with other authors, her books lose a lot of their charm. The Fox and O'Hare series is ok, but nothing special. There is less humor in this series, and I miss that. I am sill not sure what the attraction is between Fox and O'Hare. They do not have an obvious chemistry. The story is a solid heist story, but not my favorits.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Cute and light, just what I want from Fox and O'Hare.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5This one was also a lot of fun :) I'm glad to have gotten this preview for the series - which I plan to read soon.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Short intro to Evanovich's new series with Lee Goldberg. A quick short story (20min reading)I got as a free ebook. Looks like a promising series that will appeal to fans of the Stephanie Plum books. Quick fun read.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5much as love Janet's books normally.. this one didn't really entertain the way I expected.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5I was a little bummed to find out that this was just a short story -- I'd put a hold on it at the library and it became available this morning, and that's when I realized there were only 39 pages... I started reading it on the bus ride to work and was done well before the bus got into the city. LOL!
That said, I definitely enjoyed this. :) These are fun characters and it was nice to be able to read about them some more. I'd read the novel before; I didn't know this short story even existed until I went browsing new additions on the library website. It doesn't really make any difference if you have or haven't read this story before you read the novel, honestly. And finding it just gave me a few more pages to enjoy characters that I like, so it's all good. :) - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Great, fun, and frivolous. Brings lightness to a good story
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I like the interchange
between Nick & Kate & the polar opposites of both. - Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Pros and Cons: A Short Story is a good O'Hare and Fox book. Once again the thief is cunning, clever and perfect while the FBi agent is messy, klutzy and intelligent. Enjoyable and deserving the four stars that were awarded to it.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I wasn't convinced this series would be my thing after reading the first minibook but come on, Janet Evanovich and Lee Goldberg? I owed it to myself to give it a second shot an I'm glad I did. I can't wait to start on the actual series.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Short but a wonderful introduction to these characters. A fun read of what happened before 'The Heist'. Can't wait for more!
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Great short story, I wanted more! Can't wait for The Heist, to continue on with the adventure!
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Cute series
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Aww...the criminal you just can't help but love. ❤️ His precision only makes Kate's agitation worse. Totally fun read!
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Special Agent Kate O’Hare of the FBI is on a manhunt for con artist/thief Nick Fox who uses old TV character names as his aliases. This very short story is told from both characters that have an interest in the other, and I found that I like them both. Fox is just too charming and it’s amazing what con he’ll pull in order to fleece the very rich. I didn’t feel too bad for his target. And Kate has to play by rules and doesn’t let her attraction to him try to stop him. Capturing him has become her goal in life.Janet Evanovich is known for her humor and over the top, often slap-stick situations, but her books now all feel like the same ole, same ole and although I continue reading, last year I finally stopped buying. This story, while short, feels fresh and gives me some hope. Is she juicing up Lee Goldberg’s writings, or is he putting a calmer, more mature tone on hers? I don’t know. But I will be getting The Heist.Expect to get through this story in about ½ hour. Not bad for the price.
