      We written. Interesting characters and story line. Brad has proven profanity and vulgarity is not required to write a great story.

      I don't know how Brad does it, but he delivered another master piece... Why Hollywood is not knocking his door to put Americas number 1 asset on the silver screen is a head scratcher... Now on to The Act of War...

      Meaning no disrespect, but this is politico-patriot-porn for HS-level adult readers.It reads like the transcript of a direct-to-video movie with an embedded arms catalog.I understand the genre is very popular, but I like a bit more subtlety in my mayhem; and, although I support the unabashed American patriotism, I don't subscribe to the radical whatever-we-do-is-right-cause-we're-the-good-guys stance of Horvath and his associates.However, I'm reluctant to paint all of the plot as unfounded fiction anymore; had I read it in 2013 maybe so, but after the recent reveals on the machinations of the CIA, DOJ, FBI, et al. -- not so much. What seems too incredible to credit apparently is business as usual.One particular point of bad tradecraft, aside from the genre-typical last-minute-saves and odd coincidences: there is no plausible scenario in which Sal would have been on the Fed's private plane himself to receive the souvenier toy, nor would a legitimate passenger have any reason to give him one; I suppose Durkin is assumed, but he would not bother with them. However, salting the plot with the attendant's phone number was a good gad, thought I doubt she would have given away private info to a one-meeting stud-muffin.

      I have to say this is one damn good book. I could barely put it down. I will be definitely reading some more of Mr.Thors books. He reads easy and uses current events in his stories and he must know something about firearms. There is no over the top BS just good sound writing and his characters could easily be real people.I would recommend this book to anyone who likes thrillers or mysteries.

      Fast paced and shallow. The attempt to bring in the Federal Reserve as an aspect of the overall "Plot" was different. All-in-all not a very good book.

      This book, as with many Brad Thor books, is apparently designed for the young male. The men are all handsome, highly intelligent and stone cold killers as trained by the government. The women are the same just change the word "handsome" to "gorgeous". There are two stories that slowly meld into one but are difficult to maintain an interest in at the beginning.

      There is a plot against the US FED, Scott Horvath is asked to investigate after the head of the FED died and the people he selected as possible successors, have disappeared, possibly kidnapped.On the CIA side, Lydia Ryan and Bob McGee try to find out who is behind the plot and stop them.They meet the head of National Intelligence and learn more about the plot itself and how it could affect the FED and change monetary systems in the US and the world.Not to give too many plot details just that it moves along intelligently and with enough facts about the Federal Reserve to make the plot believable and worthy of our interest. We also learn of the powers of the FED and the activities of the leaders of the American Revolution and its connection to the FED. This makes the story even more interesting.

      Brad Thor is the master of "true to life" thrillers. You will be hooked from page 1 and lucky if you take a breath in the first chapter. Hidden Order shows us a "behind the scenes" look at the Federal Bank and its relationship to the US Government and the citizens of our country. Enjoy!

      One of the more unusual entries in the Scot Harvath series. In many ways, Hidden Order is more murder mystery than anti-terrorism thriller. And that came as a pleasant surprise, as did scenes where Harvath recognizes that his expertise lies elsewhere and allows "the pros" to take the lead (at least until his expertise comes into play). I even liked the bit of Revolutionary War history that Thor threw into the mix. My two complaints? First (and again, no spoilers), both "twists" were easy to spot, long before they were revealed. Second, though this book was far less political than many of Thor's recent efforts, he still couldn't resist staking out his position on the far right (perhaps even the Ron Paul right) of the American political spectrum. The book would have been no less entertaining had Thor kept his own political views out of the story. Oh, well.(Also, from my review of the free prequel story Free Fall : My criticism is not of the story itself, but rather of the decision to pull it out of the beginning of Hidden Order where it clearly belonged and "sell" it separately (yes, I know it was free). Many readers may not realize that this story was published or, if they don't have an eBook, may not have had access to it, and will thus, I think, be a bit cheated by the way Hidden Order begins (with the clear assumption that the reader has read Free Fall.

      Hidden Order by Brad Thor is another excellent thriller. The story is about 5 nominees to be the next Federal Reserve chairman that are kidnapped on the same night all across the US. Scot Harvath, a former Seal and Secret Service agent, now working for a private agency with contacts to the President is brought into find the nominees. There are two other parallel story lines about a former CIA group stirring up trouble in the Middle East that may be linked to the Arab Spring and an ex-CIA agent that gets killed in her house. The stories eventually unite at the end of the book.A good, quick, interesting read for the summer. The Federal Reserve story line is interesting and historical references to the beginning of the colonial revolution against the British makes for a good story.

      Thor has written a novel that takes Scot Harvath a little off the beaten path from international terrorism expert to something a little closer to home as he ends up more in the role of police detective to solve and/or prevent the murder of candidates for the head of the Federal Reserve. The back story and history that Thor provides for the Federal Reserve is fascinating, and really makes this book go, even through the awkward slow parts that I really haven't experienced much in Thor novels. The ending is somewhat frightening in its prophetic views of what this country, and ultimately the world could experience financially...it also sets up, I hope, fairly well for the next Harvath novel.
