      Very weak mystery, and weak on atmosphere and character development. Big sections of the book were just re-hashings of the crime. Lucy's kids made cameo appearances...really, most of the regulars from Tinker's Cove, aside from Miss Tilley, only made cameos. And I think Meier has covered the big social issue in this book--elder abuse--better in another mystery.

      My daughter seen this on the top of my to read pile and couldn't wait to read it so she got a chance to read & review it first. I thought I would share her review with you that she posted on her blog.... This book was on the top of my mom's to read pile. I just couldn't wait to read so I got to read it first. I love Leslie Meier and her Lucy Stone mysteries. She has a way of writing a wonderful mystery with humor thrown in as well. I've been reading Ms. Meier's work for a couple of years and I always enjoy her wonderful stories. What started out as a normal day that Lucy and her daughter-in-law expected to be a fun Easter Egg Hunt for Patrick, suddenly took a turn for the worse when the Easter bunny collapses in front of everyone. Traumatized Children and parents are left watching a scene of the ambulance taking away Van Vorst Duff. Van doesn't make it to the hospital. From there lots of mysterious things happen, another death in the family, and VV who has been forced to be bed ridden, VV's staff is slowly being fired, and valuables are disappearing. Some bad is happening but who is behind it all? Lucy Stone is a reporter for the local newspaper. She has a way of really getting involved in everything that is happening. She is one of my favorite characters of all time. I love Lucy, she finds herself in some really interesting situations. I always love reading how she gets herself out of them.There is just so much drama and mystery in this book that it certainly kept me turning pages. Easter Bunny Murder is one of those books that had me on the edge of my seat wondering who committed the crimes. If you enjoy a good mystery with fun characters I think you will enjoy Easter Bunny Murder.

      A few books ago I thought it might be time for Lucy Stone to put away her deerstalker hat and calabash pipe and concentrate on writing obits for The Pennysaver. Now I am glad she didn't. Although this book is generally the same as all of Meier's Lucy Stone books, I still found myself reaching for this book in order to see what happened next. The annual Easter egg hunt at the mansion of a multi-millionaire has been canceled but someone forgot to let the town of Tinkers Cove know about it. Lucy, her daughter-in-law, and grandson are among the crowd standing outside the closed gates when the mansion's front door opens and the Easter Bunny hops out. Lucy thinks he must be drunk because of his erratic 'hopping' but realizes that something worse is going on when the bunny (Van, grandson of Vivian Van Vorst) reaches the gate and falls over dead. Lucy fears there is something more than a drunken bunny happening at the Van Vorst Estate and, as usual, she is determined to find out exactly what that something is, even if it kills her.

      Easter Bunny Murder by Leslie MeierI like reading this type of mystery/holiday book and have read others by the author so when I saw she had this new one coming up, I asked the publisher to send me an ARC.Love the traditions they have because they resemble the ones I grew up with also.This one starts out where Lucy and other locals are heading to the annual Easter egg hunt at VV's, the McMansion house on the hill. In the plastic eggs are usually certificates for money or schooling or day care.Community service is done by all age groups, love the ideas. Lucy Stone is there to get a story for the Pennysaver newspaper as she writes for them. What happens next is not your typical annual event. The man wearing the Easter bunny suit has a heart attack. Turns out it's VV's grandson and afterwards Lucy is confronted with his ex wife, but he never married her, just had a child together. She's got some information that would prove he had just been to the doctor and somebody murdered him.Lucy gets a friend Sue to help out at the mansion for the funeral service and buffet and she is able to go around the house to find any clues. She thinks a few things are not as they should be and with others help from the community she is able to piece together things.Seems when she finds one clue and solves it two other clues need solving...Light reading and love the community and the holiday and yes there are recipes in the back of the book. Love catching up with the ongoings of the town...The call from the hospital in Florida changes her plans to follow up but she will get back to it...That leads to a real PI coming from NY to their town and she finds all kinds of clues and it leads to a court trial.Just when that is solved the mystery is NOT over as we find out the past details of events and the real killer...
